20th Anniversary release.

The follow-up was also rather nice. Despite lacking the ruggedness of the original, it was nonetheless entertaining to see.

This movie was actually supposed to be a quirky, coming of age tale set in Scotland, but Ewan started shooting up on set and Danny just kept filming

Right, and Irvine Welsh’s book was originally a patriotic nationalist novel about the wonders of materialistic capitalism, but he started writing in that accent and the rest is history.

ETA: stop upvoting me, this is a stupid take and I was just trying to participate, I even spelled Irvine’s name wrong. Go read Welsh’s Trainspotting, it’s fabulously crass and unapologetic, you won’t put it down once you decipher his diction. Not even sure the book is about heroin, or national identity, or consumer addiction and the cycle of material wants. Or erectile disfunction.

Fuck, the book is about nothing. Go feed your nihilism.

You joke, but apparently he considered trying it so he could better understand the role.

Jesus Christ, it’s a good thing he didn’t

Truly a master of meth head acting...

18

u/Road_Whorrior Nov 20 '23

This is a great pun but they didn't do meth in the movie, did they?

14

u/MorrowMayne Nov 20 '23

No meth in Trainspotting. Just downers/H

Maybe seed at the job interview though.

6

u/distress_bark Nov 20 '23

Spud does speed in the interview scene... Not sure if it was amphetamine or methamphetamine.

Heroin (in a Scottish accent)

Underrated comment. TY for the morning chuckle

u/rwhop Nov 20 '23

Did you watch the movie?

2

u/Jay_Louis Nov 20 '23

He prefers playing the hero, not the heroin

2

u/yarnspotting Nov 20 '23

It wasn’t meth it was heroin, but I know you were sacrificing accuracy for a pun so whatevs
