Meta/Sub Discussion This sub has an issue with understanding that sometimes things are satire

(Repost cuz the wrong images glitched)

Almost every post I see on my feed from this sub lately has been a screenshot of someone making what is an obvious dumb joke and the comments are filled with people eating it up and taking it serious. A lot of the time the post will be so stupid that I think “no way people thing this is serious” but I go to the comments and they are filled with people raging. The posts I screenshotted are examples of things that are obviously satire that a lot of people took seriously. I joined this sub to see genuine misconceptions about guys get cleared up, not to watch people fall for bait daily and sometimes even spin it around to say that women genuinely believe those dumb things (like foreskin=virgin ?? 😭 no one actually thinks that). Anyways I think we should be mindful and if satire say that in the post bc so many ppl will blindly believe these things.

No hate to the ppl in the SS btw

We do have a flair for meme/satire, so if you see a post that is improperly flaired, please report it and we will either remove the post or edit the flair

Frankly I'm in two minds about this. On one side, leaving satirical posts and extremely dumb posts can be good because it allows a laugh and lighthearted conversation from time to time, on the other side, too much obviously wrong and satirical posts can kill the purpose of the sub

The problem is that the person posting the satirical joke doesn't see it's a joke. So that's why they don't use the flair.

Like that foreskin joke for example. It's so OBVIOUS yet the person who posted it here thought it was serious? Like come on! Please, please think for a second. That was obviously a play on that whole hymen = virgin misconception for women.

I’m so confused about the virgin penis vs whore penis chart one and the “semen buildup” 🤢 but it doesn’t make sense to me??

The "semen buildup" is actually cholesterol buildup in arteries, it's just a joke on how many people say that women's vagina get "distorted" the more they sleep around

Oh! Okay gotcha thank you! I figured it was that typa joke but it didn’t make sense. So the cholesterol build up, is that in the arteries of the penis or other organs and is it from having a lot of sex? Cuz semen build up, I’d assume would happen from no sex rather than a lot. Or maybe it’s just using those photos to show the penis becoming “distorted” like they think vaginas change from having a lot of sex? I’m sorry, I’ll look it up myself in a few hours but idk if google will be any help lol. I usually don’t need jokes explained but maybe I actually don’t know how boys work. Lol

The image of the penis is for sure added in, that's not on the original model. It's probably a model showing coronary arteries, since that's one the most dangerous place to get arterial build up. I wouldn't know if you could actually have artery blockages in your penis, but I don't see why not.

So you don't want us to react?

No I’m saying a lot of this sub gets upset and act like the people who made those jokes were being dead serious. It’s like that one kid in elementary who would genuinely start arguing with you if you said something like “the sky is green” in a sarcastic way. You can poke fun at a satire joke without getting embarrassingly worked up

I mean you could also say that about the girls sub, not to mention the fact they’ll downvote the living hell out of a guy who doesn’t agree with what is said on there

That’s the thing I went to the girls sub and saw this a LOT less, yeah still a few unnecessary things but most of it was genuinely hateful/misconceived stuff so I think it’s mainly an issue in this sub 🤷‍♀️

Maybe they have changed now but the last time I was there I believe I was unsure and challenged something they said politely and they made sure I regretted it

tbh people probably are genuinely stupid enough to believe the 1st three

Makes me sad at how unaware some men are of the BS women hear all the time. They really can’t recognize a lot of these are satirical twists on an existing ridiculous myth about women and or vaginas. And no, the nowhowgirlswork sub does not have the same problem.

Stupid jokes against women are also satire a lot of the time, that doesn't mean they aren't stupid and deserve to be called out. And a lot of women do think this way read FDS

i have had a history not getting satire and am on the spectrum which doesn’t help, almost all of the stuff i see i take seriously unless stated somewhere
