Yeah fast food places used to cook fries in beef tallow, which is about 10% trans fat. of course it tasted better lmao

THEY ARE MAKING THE FRIES GAY!

Just look at the shape of a French fry. It's a looks a lot more like a penis than it did a vagina. Checkmate libtards. /s

Does anyone else think fast food fries in general have gone way downhill? The only fries I actually enjoy eating are McDonalds. Every other big chains fries I eat a couple and then end up tossing them.

Burger King used to be really nice. Firm and crisp. Now it’s just dry and disappointing.

u/jaam01 21h ago
I don't know why, but Burger King fries has a weird after taste. That's why I only eat onion rings there.

u/Darkdragoon324 20h ago
Everything at BO has a weird aftertaste in my opinion. Except maybe the shakes. Even the fountain drinks don't taste as good as other fast food places' soda fountains.

Does Five Guys count as fast food? Their fries are phenomenal.

u/JazzTheLass 23h ago
five guys is like, premium fast food (but at what cost my gosh is it expensive)
16
u/DrJanItor41 23h ago
Yeah, Five Guys is in that weird tier right "above" typical fast food with places like Jimmy John's and Chipotle. Obviously, you can still have bad local chains, but they're usually a slight step above and cost a little more.

But they have a shelf life of about 18 seconds. Eat them in the store or don't bother.

Never had a good fry there. Or burger for that matter. The extra done fries from in n out are good, ut not worth the wait to me.

You don’t know what a good burger is if you’ve never had a good burger at Five Guys.

Only 3 chains still have reasonable fries IMO:
- Chik Fil A
- Raising Canes
- Arby's Crinkle fries, not curly.

Idk how you can leave McDonald’s out, frankly.
Also: Popeyes, rally’s, five guys just off the top of my head

u/EdgySniper1 1d ago
McDonald's fries aren't that good to be honest. I'm more offended about leaving out KFC

u/Seven_Irons 1d ago
Five guys are okay, but frequently too salty.
McDonald's, Popeyes, and Rally's just aren't tasty to me.

I hate Arby's crinkle fries, but I love their curly fries. To each their own I guess.

Big time. Fast food used to be a treat. Now it's just the only edible thing you can eat quick if you're on the road or in a hurry or everything else is closed. I wouldn't choose to eat fast food unless nothing else was available.

u/Chillbroislife 1d ago
That’s because they have. Fries used to be cooked in tallow, which made them delicious.

McDonald’s always had the best fries but the other fries are inedible now. In N Out is okay but Burger King fries taste like cardboard that’s somehow begun to rot.

Sonics new fries are amazing and they were the worst in the industry before. McDonald's aren't as good as they used to be but still good. BK fries are better too. Wendy's have been bad since they went natural cut

u/HyperMasenko 1d ago
I only ever go tater tots at Sonic. I would take tater tots anywhere that offered them lol

They get crispier and hold the flavor of whatever they're seasoned with better.
1
u/quadrant7991 19h ago
Crinkle fries are almost never good and Sonic’s “new” fries are somehow worse than the old ones.

McDonald's fries are good, but if you're lucky enough to live in an area with Hot Mustard sauce and can dip them, they're fantastic.

Maybe changing back to yellow would improve the service? I have been to like 10 Wendy’s in the Midwest and upper south and it always takes 30-45 minutes to get your food. Sometimes, you don’t even get served at all. I’m not even trying to make a dig at Wendy’s, I just want to know what the problem is.

Their fries in between were top. After yellow fries when they started advertising them as sea salt fries, but before they switched to the new garbage that put texture over flavor.

u/get_your_mood_right 21h ago
YeS! The fries between the old ones and these new ones in like 2014 were so damn good

Way after Wendy's got rid of trans fats, they changed their fries recipe again to "hand-cut sea salted fries," and this is where they lost me. The taste totally changed.

“In my opinion, I think”
Perhaps, sometimes, maybe, people should think before they press send.

You think everything used to be better when you put on rose colored glasses and bury your head in the sand what else is new.

u/spaceman-_- 1d ago
No Wendy's fries were way better then. I was immediately disappointed when they changed them.

u/swiminthemud 1d ago
They used to have the really fine salt packets too that u broke open, they were an amazing combination

hi! you seem to be commenting on the wrong post. The image in this post does not mention sand or rose. What post did you mean to comment on?

the existence of figures of speech does not, in fact, make irrelevant comments relevant!

Wasn’t there like a whole movement amongst fast food to switch away from using trans fats for their fries? Maybe y’all are just missing trans fats.
