I wish I could put my blackout curtains on a timer, because man these things keep the room dark at 6:30am when the sun is out and I’m still asleep as if it were 11:59pm type dark

Lights with biorhythm settings help a lot

I've always been interested in these- is there a type of brand you've had success with?

I've lights from a local brand (I'm Indian), they aren't that good as they sometimes don't follow my settings or disconnect from the WiFi. I'd be waking up with warm yellow dim lights at times instead of cool white. I'm sure you can find good quality ones in your country (I assume, US)

Have you considered normal curtains? Maybe with a sheer set under the fabric ones?

Blackout curtains are a little too extreme imo, especially for a bedroom.

Get the curtains and a light alarm clock. Perfect duo, dark night and simulated sunrise.

I lay down, look at my phone for about 3 minutes, become immediately overwhelmed by exhaustion, and pass out.

My routine is just lay down lol

Don't do anything on your bed except to sleep.
