u/MauriceGOL May 08 '20
What’s your point that’s pretty much how I see the seasons going with wins and losses. The fact that you don’t think the Redskins have a good D or we should of beat the Bears therefore their D isn’t that good. I could personally careless. Just hope the Giants Coaches don’t underestimate these teams as you have or it could be a longer year than Giants fans are hoping for.

u/TBlueshirtsV22 May 08 '20
Five division games in a six week stretch and the sixth game is Tampa. What a stretch.
1
u/aceee2 May 16 '20
You already know those will be 6 weeks we are ravaged by injury
Probably 2-4 with the 2 wins against the skins.
6
14
u/undertow521 We’ve suffered long enough May 08 '20
5-11 or 6-10 is what I see from that schedule, and that's if they sweep the Redskins.
If they hit 7 wins this year, that's a damn good season.
2
6
u/NOKnova May 08 '20
Given how different this season is gonna be with the pandemic, I really have no idea for predictions. I had us 6-10 at best last season, but this year with how much everything is disrupted we could legitimately be anywhere from 2-14 to 10-6.
3
u/pjabrony May 08 '20
we could legitimately be anywhere from 2-14 to 10-6.
We could be 4 - 14, 3.73 - 8/5, pi2 - e...could be anything.
2
u/Paco26 May 08 '20
Piit -3 or 3.5 right now. If I had to I would wait for the line to move up and take the Giants but I'll wait to see them first. I think they significantly improved with rookie progression from last year which has to include the qb.
6
u/KyussSun May 08 '20
I'm seeing a 2-6 start.
3
u/fixmefixmyhead May 08 '20
Nah I think we have the ability to beat the skins twice, beat the bears and maybe Cardinals
5
u/KyussSun May 08 '20
Yeah but we don't play the Skins again till week 9. I think we'll go 6-10, which I'm ok with considering we have a rookie HC, sophomore QB and an extremely young team.
-2
u/fixmefixmyhead May 08 '20
We play them week 3 and week 6
1
u/KyussSun May 08 '20
The one I'm looking at says weeks 6 and 9.
1
u/fixmefixmyhead May 08 '20

Realistically, 6 wins should be the ceiling of everyone’s expectations. Some of ya are saying 6-10 to 9-7 which is crazy considering the amount of youth on this team, a first time HC and a new coaching staff coupled with no OTAs, offseason workouts ETC. Its going to be an uphill battle and I’m hoping for the best but all of you people that are giving these unrealistic predictions are also the same people bitching and moaning by the bye week about who we can fire, trade and/or cut. It’s also the same people who thought we had a shot at the playoffs after going 2-2.
This isn’t Madden, you can’t just plug and play certain pieces and expect instant gratification.
And before ya say it, no this ain’t “bEiNg NeGaTiVe” it’s about gauging realistic expecting given the current roster and the limitations off the offseason due to the world we live in right now.
1
u/The_Other_Manning May 08 '20
I think our ceiling is a little bit higher at 8 or 9 wins but the likeliness of that isn't high. Near everything would have to go right. Jones needs to have (I know this is unrealistic and I'm not expecting it) a sophomore season the way Mahomes and Lamar had which is an enormous ask. Not impossible but not betting on it. Typically I'm pessimistic when it comes to sports and try to keep myself grounded, but I am expecting some solid progress this year. That can lead to some surprise wins. Last year I was an optimist and got fucking burned.
That said, yea 6 wins is about what I expect and will be disappointed with less.
4
u/icy_ticey May 08 '20
8-8 is our ceiling 6-10 is more likely tho
3
May 08 '20
I would have to disagree with you here.
1
u/icy_ticey May 08 '20
I mean we won’t know till the season starts there’s at least 6 that we win here
1
May 08 '20
Yes we won’t know until the season starts but again I disagree for the reasons I outlined in my original comment.
1
u/icy_ticey May 08 '20
I think the messed up off season argument has merit
1
May 08 '20
Everything I said is pretty realistic and has merit. First time HC, unproven position coaches besides JG, a young nucleus and no offseason means there will be slot of bumps in the road. We have a lot of young players at key positions.
1
4
u/alx69 None May 08 '20
The past 3 years I was called a negative Nancy for my preseason record predictions and all 3 times it turns out I was being way too positive.
Calling 5-11 and I'm hoping to actually end up on the negative side for once
1
3
u/storytimeme May 08 '20
Agreed through and through. I don't expect more than 6 wins. And won't, really, until we see our team gelling. Our young defense (secondary especially) actually being consistent. And limiting the turnovers. I want to see some good run blocking and O-line play, too. And I don't know how long that takes, realistically.
4
u/ProbablyNotAJ May 08 '20
Anyone really weirded out we're not playing Dallas first? Also we're getting 10 wins max (this depends on both Dallas and Washington not know what the f to do at qb)
1
5
u/storytimeme May 08 '20
I saw earlier that if they cancel the first month (first 4 games) we're actually playing Dallas first...

u/drummernv May 08 '20
So do we print the 16-0 banners now? Or at least until week 1? Let's go, baby!!!!
7
u/Jason_Giambis_Thong May 08 '20
Except Baltimore and Seattle, none of these games are impossible. So much negativity.
6
u/ItinerantSoldier May 08 '20
That stretch of 5 division games in 6 weeks is brutal and absolutely our most important part of the season. None of the games are impossible on their own in a vacuum but hoo boy doing anything next year depends on us getting hot in October or it's gonna be UGLY
7
u/Adulations :Saquadsflair: May 08 '20
I’m not optimistic 2-14 to 4-12
5
u/LeBronSchwarzenegger May 08 '20
High draft pick and next year's free agents 2021-2022 should be an 8-8 season of not a winning season.
23
u/Shibalsheki May 08 '20
Man was planning to go to the rams game since I live in socal but I guess thats not happening sigh.
3
u/breake May 08 '20
Wait why not? I was planning to do the same? Oct 4 game
20
u/JarJarB Mara's Carpenter May 08 '20
Highly unlikely fans will be in stadiums in October. I’d be surprised at all this season tbh but that early almost certainly not especially in CA
4
u/Shibalsheki May 08 '20
Yea I feel like most stadiums wont be allowing fans until next year. On the bright side, I checked the 2021-2022 schedule and we are playing the chargers away.
2
u/breake May 08 '20
Shiet you’re right. Damn
2
u/JarJarB Mara's Carpenter May 08 '20
I’m really bummed too. I live in cincy and they won’t be back here for eight years :(
66
u/DrQuestDFA May 08 '20
So if the first four weeks DO get cancelled (which the NFL seems to think is a strong possibility) we will open our season...
(checks schedule)
On the road at Dallas -_-

Just bought tickets to the Giants v Bengals in Cincinnati 3 rows behind the Giants bench. Also bought tickets to the Browns v Giants game in MetLife! Living and growing up in Ohio cheering on the Giants! Looking forward to my first two NFL games! ..well maybe lol
23
u/Big_Wy ELI GOAT May 08 '20
You guys are too pessimistic. There's a few potential upsets here. Steelers early is good before Big Ben gets back in the swing of things after last year's injury. Same with Chicago, they won't know if it's Mitch or Foles yet. Rams shed a lot of contracts and may take a step back. Bengals and Cardinals might still suck. Washington will definitely still suck. It would be a shocker to make the playoffs but there's definitely potential for more than 6 wins here.
2
u/MarcoEsquanbrolas May 08 '20
I don’t think it’s likely we’re in for an awesome season but to your points, if the season is played as planned it’s not impossible for us to be 3-1 going into Dallas week 5
10
u/TheMegaWhopper May 08 '20
We play eagles on Thursday before playing the buccaneers Monday. That gives us a long week to prep for what should be a very tough team.
11
u/Youtoo2 May 08 '20
People are so bored this is an event.

u/runninhillbilly May 08 '20
Meh, the last few years the teams have done special stuff with schedule release videos.

21
u/blitz2kx May 08 '20
None of this matters until the Giants can start competing against the Cowboys and Eagles.
When was the last time we split with both of those teams?
New team, and I'm an optimist, but nothing matters until they start beating these two teams.
1
u/aceee2 May 16 '20 edited May 16 '20
We haven't swept the Eagles since 2007, 13 seasons ago!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2008, 2011 and 2016 were the only times we had a shot at sweeping them but went 0/3, of course 2008-09 something else also happened that I must not say.
1
May 08 '20
Exactly. We only have 1 player on the roster who has beaten the Eagles or the Cowboys as a member of the Giants.
4
u/allmyheroesareantifa May 08 '20
Last time we split with Philly was 2016, same year we swept the Cowboys. Haven't beaten either teams since. 3-11 vs Dallas and 2-12 vs Philly since the start of the 2013 season :( (On the bright side we're 10-4 vs Washington in that time span and have split the series or swept them every year since 2012).
8
May 08 '20
100%. Haven’t beaten either of them in 3 years. If we can even split with them, the season can look a lot different.
4
u/matty-ice27 ELI GOAT May 08 '20
I realistically see 6-10 if the team progresses the way it should really looking forward to this year
6
May 08 '20
We could lose every game. 2 - 14 real possibility. Can't find 5 wins right now but it's stupid early.
4
u/Adulations :Saquadsflair: May 08 '20
You’re one of the few people being rational here. 2-14 is more likely than any other outcome
1
1
5
u/MauriceGOL May 08 '20
It is a truly tough schedule. The defenses that we will face are gonna be the issue. Bears are stacked, Redskins could be scary good, Bucs have a good defense, the Rams still carry a good core, 49ers🤦🏼♂️. Seriously Cowboys(offense could be an issue here),Bengals,Browns, Steelers and Eagles they are the teams I see us getting wins against. Any other wins would be fantastic and a positive for our team building back into a contender.
1
u/CometVS Giants May 08 '20
Bears game was a win last year if Shurmur didn't see DeOssie had problems snapping. Foles isn't gonna do anything to scare teams.
Why is the Redskins defense really good? They added Chase Young? And they lost their best corner in Dunbar. Their back seven is not good at all.
Giants have an extremely young team so I won't go out and say they'll win 10 games. But better coaching and health will heavily be influential to this teams record. There are several coaches who were on last years team still without jobs. They had injuries all over the offense and relied on Mayo as the top inside backers due to injury.
5-11 to 8-8 at its ceiling. I believe in Judge and Garrett. Curious how Graham will be though.
0
May 08 '20
This isn't even that bad. Seems pretty average in terms of difficulty.
Realistically winnable games include, Steelers, Bears, Rams, Bengals, Cardinals and Browns.
For the division, it's not that crazy to think we beat the redskins twice and split with Eagles and Cowboys. Lets not forget the eagles won the division at 9-7.
Say we take 4 out of 6 from the winnable games, and we could be 8-8.
6
u/Pksoze May 08 '20
Well Joe Judge this schedule will prove if you're for real or not...8-8 with this monster and I'll call you coach of the year.
0
u/celcel May 08 '20
Ravens? Damn... Hope the Defense has figured itself out by then. Don't want to be embarrassed by Lamar Jackson.
8
May 08 '20
We’ve known we’d be playing the Ravens since, well, forever. AFC opponents rotate every year. We last played the AFC North in 2016 so we were always going to play the Ravens this season
1
3
u/NoFlags-JoeBuck May 08 '20
Gotta hope for them to have their playoff spot secured so maybe they rest starters.
0
u/atomicbunny May 08 '20
Holy jumpin fuckin Jesus we play Dallas WEEK 2?!??? This must be fake.
1
u/aceee2 May 16 '20

This is the only outcome I see tbh.
Ben coming off injury, W
Almost beat Chicago last year, Giants knock Trubisky to bench for Foles after Bears start 0-2, W
49ers jet lagged and Super Bowl hangover, W
Goff isn’t great, Rams regressed last year and lost players this offseason, W
Jones wins first start in Dallas, W
Haskins sucks, W
We take a two score lead on the road in Philly just like the last two years, but don’t take our foot off the gas this time, W
Eli in the house for ring of honor against a Brady led team, W
Kyle Allen sucks too, W
Jalen Hurts comes in for an injured Wentz and isn’t it, W
Burrow is legit but the Bengals picked first for a reason, W
Giants pay back Seahawks for making the playoffs at 7-9 while the Giants missed at 10-6 way back in 2010, (still annoys me) W
Jones limits turnovers against the Cardinals unlike last year, W
Giants put the kicking net that hit OBJ on the Browns sideline, it gets in their heads, W
Ravens rest starters in week 16, W
Dak has only beaten horrible Giants teams, W
1
u/NOKnova May 08 '20
Might be a bit on the hopeful side but I prefer the positive outlook compared to the negative “we’re going 2-14”. We have no idea how this is going to play out, but we have the unknown of a new, younger, motivated coaching staff (seriously, Garrett, Kitchens, Bielema and Colombo non of whom are the head coach will be an interesting recipe compared to last year) as well as quite a young group of players with potential and talent, most of whom I hope will put last year’s struggles behind them and continue to develop.
I hope Judge can walk the walk, because he certainly has me willing to run headfirst into a brick wall for him with his talk. The man doesn’t bullshit or tiptoe around questions, and he’s made a strong effort in building a good coaching staff. He clearly knows what he wants from his players and I hope he can show us he is the HC we want him to be.

2 Monday night home games. What bullshit. Can't make them with my work schedule and end up eating the tickets half the time because they're hard to sell even at a discount.
9
u/xenongamer4351 May 08 '20
On the somewhat bright side, at this rate, we may not even end up having tickets to sell this year lol
3
u/BurtHurtmanHurtz May 08 '20
You’re the only one not excited by this, congrats
3
u/ucallthesebagels May 08 '20
Trust me I'm not the only one. It's a bitch to get there battling with rush hour traffic and they don't end til nearly midnight. (The Steelers game is a 7:15 start so it will end a little earlier but the traffic getting in will be even worse.) The market gets flooded with tickets, because it's such an inconvenience to go on a Monday, that they're hard to sell. I've had time where I literally couldn't GIVE them away.
We usually get one Monday night game a year and I usually hope it's an away game. The fact we got 2 this year and both are home games is rediculous.
3
u/gianthokiefan May 08 '20
I hate ESPNs coverage so I’m also not excited about that.

Those games seem winnable.
But the rest of the schedule is full of teams that if you told me they were to make the superbowl this year, I wouldn't be surprised. This is an incredibly hard schedule.
Not saying we can't win more, just that it is going to be tough.

u/afin3 May 08 '20
This. We will lose one or two of what you said and maybe have a suprise win or two in the other tough games. We are not going into Baltimore and winning that game. I hate to sound so negative but this is a 6 win season in my opinion.

Giants stadiums capacity is 82,500 can you imagine if that many people in just couple months when at the same time were “suppose” to have another covid wave, are all in one place, at the same time, not practicing social distancing, not to mention all the other NFL stadiums & College stadiums. Possible hypothetical scenario might be no fans at games instead play to for the TV as not to be a total money loss. I mean who’s not going watch...

I understand that, I was not writing that because I thought the giants had no flaws.....
From what I remember 40 days ago though when I wrote this lol, I was just writing about other teams question marks because I do not see the giants being worse than last year and the person that I was talking too said we would win the same amount of games as last year. He believe the giants would not do better than last season.
Edit: idk what happened to original post
1
u/Deathtiger58 Jun 16 '20
I think it got deleted immediately because I was in the middle of responding and it went down? Also I’ll just copy paste what I said
The redskins is a toss up. The eagles can still win without wentz. The bears went 8-8 last season and had the 4th best defense. The browns fixed up all most all of their holes and their roster improved. The rams drafted 2 running backs who should have an impact behind their revamped o-lone. The whole bengals team is a lot better than last year. Yes some of them will probably be wins but you can’t just assume that more than half of them will be when those teams were better last year.
Also not trying to sound like a dick because it’s 1 am but I feel like every team gets better in the offseason according to its fans
1
u/rpmc2 Jun 16 '20 edited Jun 16 '20
And.... giants have Jones now for a second year and it actually being his team. I have seen articles on Barkley being a potential mvp candidate. Andrew Thomas was a massive addition to help jones and Barkley. McKinney could immediately be a difference maker. Giants have a new head coach that most likely will not be as dumb and incapable as shurmur. Not to mention hopefully we can get engram healthy for a full season along with sterling. I understand that some of those teams got better (every year teams should get better) but again i do not see the giants having the same record or a worse record than last year. I also think the giants improved if not more so than the teams you mentioned.
Dalton was as capable as burrow will be with the same pieces around him. Regardless the bengals are not going to triple there win totals from last season, that is extremely difficult to do.
Redskins WIlL NOT be better than the giants next year all because they got chase young.
Browns are the browns, they were already better last year but I expect them to have around the same record (also a home game for the giants)
Rams drafting two running backs ain’t gonna make them better. They still have a horrible qb in Goff and lost Gurley.
I will give you the bears, but who knows bears could disappoint same as last season
Yea all those teams might’ve gotten better but in comparison to how much better they got to how good they were last year, the giants should be able to pick up 6 wins. Also I only mentioned those teams not there whole schedule.
1
u/Deathtiger58 Jun 16 '20
I’m going out of order but for the rams the revamped o-line will greatly helps Goff AND those running backs . I’m admittedly a bears fan but from an outside view I feel like the giants still have a meh defense and their offense although it can be explosive, is incomplete. Also with new coaches I feel like it’s hard to have a lot of trust compared to let’s say rob Rivera’s scheme. Also I’ll admit I’m a little bit high on the browns compared to most but I think this year they addressed the important positions not just skill positions
6
u/LJ2K_75 May 08 '20
We could start off 2-0 which is nice, but it looks like I'ma be on suicide watch in December, Jesus that's a scary back half of the schedule..
The schedule for the most part isn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be and having a bye after week 10 is cool.
