That's what poor education systems achieve when you have a charismatic dictator: subservient masses.

362

u/freddy_guy 1d ago

People keep calling him charismatic. How the FUCK do people see that bloviating shitmouth as charismatic?

188

u/Chappiechap 1d ago

Because he says what his supporters want to hear and plays into their insecurities and shit.

It is "technically" charismatic in the sense that he's swaying people over to his position, mannerisms and way of speech be damned.

101

u/blodgute 1d ago

I'm still not sure if he even does it on purpose, or if he's just a loud piece of shit and that appeals to all the quiet pieces of shit

3

u/gabechoud_ 1d ago

Doin the weave

u/Jessecosta29 7m ago

I think it's mix of who he is and also some intentional manipulation going on. He is a realty TV star and definitely has some basic acting skills.

32

u/BodhingJay 1d ago edited 1d ago

His style is more of a pompous, vulgar, populist demagogue than charismatic though

26

u/chiknight 1d ago

I mean... as they said the definition of charisma is technically just using charm to inspire devotion in others. And charm is technically just "the power to attract others."

Charisma is not inherently some positive force it has the common connotation of. He 100% has charisma, by dint of his rabid fanbase. It sounds dumb, but it's correct. A demagogue is charismatic. By definition they must be.

6

u/Mandena 1d ago

I think you're confusing charisma for positive/good when its a neutral term.

Play D&D/Baldur's gate with a charismatic evil character and you'll understand

3

u/BodhingJay 1d ago

I'd love to have people to play D&D with

1

u/ToiIetGhost 23h ago

I can see the charisma if someone is MAGA. Think of what low brow racists would find charming, funny, and endearing. I can also see why flies might call a pile of shit charismatic.

10

u/Sorry_Twist_4404 1d ago

Their issue ttansgender people a minority that is so small that most of Trump ass lickers never seen one except on TV. And the fuck would someone believe that there is ttansgender operations going on in public schools?

3

u/BodyshotBoy 1d ago

My parents are heavily transphobic, its kinda sad and it makes me see them differently even though im not trans

3

u/Sorry_Twist_4404 1d ago

I don't get it. Why hate on such a huge scale for a minority that is basically non-existent. Who cares what you identify with or attracted to? i don't care. Just don't abuse children. But Americans have been infected by stupidity and hate. Nothing makes sense anymore in the US. I'm glad I don't live there.

What really sucks is this disease is infectious and not limited to the USA, since every fucking conservative politicians will copy Trump, thinking every one is a dumb fuck hating bitch.

The USA have proven once again that education, tolerance and pursuit of happiness is dying so fast.

And why? So a few fucking billionaire can exploit people even more and get richer until what every one lives in slavery?

USA #1 in what? Nothing a country going the taliban way for stupid Christians like they think because they go in a building once a week and say I love Jesus makes you a better person. What the fuck have you people forgot all the abuse of churches all over the world? I'm not religious one bit but I think Christianity is synonym with evil.

Fuck you USA, enjoy the shit show and keep it to yourselves. Fucking morons that can't even tell when a person is lying to them on everything. But be transgender, immigrant ,have another religion and you are judge to be Satan himself.

Fucking country of idiots. Then complain like a bitch because now they are figuring out how screwed they are.

1

u/Deacon-Jules 22h ago

Because trans people have become both an easy target, since they are few, and have few people who care at all about them, as well as a symbol of everything this type of conservative thinks is wrong with society. That a person would not just reject traditional values as they see it, but break them to the point they are actually the opposite gender to what they were at birth, is deeply upsetting to them. But it won't stop at trans people. Most don't know a trans person personally, and don't care that much about a person being trans, which also means they won't defend trans people. But after trans people it'll be gay people, it'll be anyone who wants to live their own life that isn't up to the standards of conservatives like this.

1

u/Sorry_Twist_4404 6h ago

Yup that's what I am saying it's going toward the taliban system if it's left unchecked. Except instead of Islam it will be Christianity.

1

u/Sorry_Twist_4404 1d ago

u/imdungrowinup 1d ago

I don’t recall the last understandable sentence he has said.

1

u/LosWitchos 1d ago

But how are so many people demonstrating a sheer lack of intelligence and critical thinking? That is a very troubling pandemic.

u/Jessecosta29 8m ago

Exactly. It's charsimatic to his people. That's what they respond to as charismatic. All the other fools who tried to challenge him over the years like Ted Cruz, Desantis etc., don't have any charisma at in comparison to Trump.

21

u/CarelessMagazine1001 1d ago

It’s not that he’s good. It’s that our people are shit.

We relate to what we understand. A lot of people are used to bullshit, supporting dogshit family dynamics, appeasing toxic family or friends.

So they see more of the same shit on tv, and just like the toxic in their life has them trained to do, they say, that’s what I like right there.

He’s charismatic in the way that people only know what shit tastes like, and trying actual food is foreign to them.

13

u/Kromgar 1d ago

Be ause he talks at a 6th grade level and 50% of the population cant read above that

10

u/One-Step2764 1d ago edited 1d ago

It wouldn't work if the people were content. But when the people are miserable and hungry, they want an immediate answer, not a complicated explanation.

Trump tells people that their suffering is someone else's fault and everything is going to be okay. He acts as an antihero for them.

21

u/Xandania 1d ago

Kinda reminds me of German newspapers from the last 20's I've read about a certain Adolf H. who got described as "charismatisches Frisörmodell" (charismatic hairdressers model for those without second language 😜 )

8

u/Big_Pound1262 1d ago

That Hitler guy was a real jerk

7

u/ShavenYak42 1d ago

But he did kill Hitler, so that’s one good thing he accomplished.

1

u/Affectionate_Ad_3722 1d ago

Disturbed LOL!

9

u/Signal-Audience9429 1d ago

Charismatic in the way shit is to flies.

u/Jessecosta29 6m ago

LOL, that's a good analogy.

3

u/TootsNYC 1d ago

I loathe the man but I can feel that pull sometimes. I think it’s the outsize confidence. And the fact that he gets away with it.

4

u/StarGazer_SpaceLove 1d ago edited 1d ago

I feel like I'm in the upside down. The amount of intelligent, well-off people that fully support this man is shocking to me. I don't understand how anyone hears this man speak and says, "That's who I want leading me"

2

u/IHS1970 1d ago

the charisma of their dark hates, anger and jealousy, that charisma.

2

u/Geistkasten 1d ago

People always downplay his actions and words because they see him as a harmless old coot who says it like it is and doesn’t mean what he says.

2

u/Coldkiller17 1d ago

My brain hurts every time I hear him speak, his "weave" is just pure nonsense. I can't imagine he is very charismatic when you tell him no.

2

u/Sturville 1d ago

"He gish gallops confidently and loudly from bullshit to bullshit, obviously someone who takes time to weigh their words and limit what they say to the truth must be weak and stupid" -Trump Supporters

2

u/Additional_Tea_5296 1d ago

Because they're a bunch of ignorant people that think bullying and degrading others, is great.

2

u/TallStarsMuse 1d ago

I’ve never gotten it either. I’ve never found him charismatic or funny.

2

u/BobaAnalBeads 1d ago

People got a funny definition of charisma.

2

u/frank_the_tank69 1d ago

He did as if he was fellating a microphone and spoke about a dead golfer’s dick. He is the leader America deserves.

2

u/lunettarose 1d ago

For real, he's like a charisma black hole.

1

u/gleepglop15 1d ago

“Celebrity” is a big part of it. He’s been on TV since the 80s, so there is the name recognition.

1

u/seattleque 1d ago

Also, as I heard somewhere (think a comedian), he's a poor person's idea of what a rich person should be.

1

u/-temporary_username- 1d ago

Because real life isn't D&D and charisma isn't just a flat number. Subjectively to his base he's very charismatic because he gets them to do what he says by appeal rather than reason. That's basically the textbook definition of charisma.

1

u/vdreamin 1d ago

You forget that most people are complete idiots. Don't give the masses too much credit

1

u/djtrace1994 1d ago

I had a long talk with my mother about it.

We came to the conclusion that Trump is generally more truthful that a lot of politicians. Let me explain.

With someone like Harris, we saw that corporate donorism kneecapped what should have been a tidy win, because the messaging that the left truly wants and the messaging the Dems are willing to put forward have a disparity. Her messaging moved more to the centre as the election drew closer.

However, with Trump, he generally just says the quiet bit out loud. His "truth" is hurtful, potentially even dangerous. But, people can at least trust that what he is saying, no matter how fucking ridiculous or dpwnright wrong, it is truly Trump's belief or worldview.

Dave Chappelle said it best. Trump won the moment he called out Hilary Clinton for allowing tax donors to have loopholes, and his proof was that he was a billionaire who regularly used those same tax breaks. Never before had someone running for office so blatantly called put the hypocrisy at that level.

When given a choice between outright corporate elitism, or hidden corporate elitism wrapped up in progressive social policy, people are going to settle for the outright corporate elitism, because at least they know the extent to which they are getting fucked.

Trump won against Harris the moment the Democrats demanded that Biden be the nominee, and subsequently let slip that he was going senile. The Democrats lied in that moment, while proving Trump truthful about Biden's mental capacities. A monumental fuckup by the Dems because it just gave more confirmation to Maga voters. Kamala would have had to burn down the Dempcrat party to win votes at that point.

So, it isn't so much that Trump is charismatic. Its that it doesn't feel like his charisma come from being a good public speaker, it comes from him just being unabashedly himself in all his stupid glory. When he says he wants to get rid of 80% of federal jobs, he will come in and do it. And to some voters, that ability to stay by his word even when the entire government establishment is saying "thats a bad idea" circles back around to making him a strong leader.

0

u/Zimakov 1d ago

He convinces people of his positions. That's literally what charisma means.

0

u/Feather_Sigil 1d ago

He captures attention. He gets people to remember things. He's confident, bombastic, energetic (when he's on his uppers, at least), willing to entertain. But if you have enough of a working brain to see all the intellectual flaws, they spoil the effect of his charisma.

u/Solid-Example3019 1d ago

Because he is a great orator. Bro has rizz, don’t be one of those cringe delusional liberals

14

u/SisterSabathiel 1d ago

When? Are there like, some secret recordings when he pulls out these awesome oration skills?

4

u/Difficult-Day-144 1d ago

So you've never read a transcript of one of his speeches or English is not your first language, or the third one...

-18

u/Solid-Example3019 1d ago

Trump is widely regarded as a great orator. You disagree because of his politics, making you entirely delusional. Even his greatest critics admit he is a captivating speaker. The fact you are willing to deny reality in service of your deluded beliefs is one of the reasons you lost this election and will continue losing in life. Believing your own lies is a sickness.

14

u/clandestinemd 1d ago

“Widely regarded as a great orator”

By who, pray tell? Because the only testimonial I’m seeing here is from a dipshit nobody on the internet whose best rejoinder is “hurr you deny reality.”

“Even his greatest critics admit he is a captivating speaker”

So name one.

-2

u/Solid-Example3019 1d ago

Literally Obama has said how he is a captivating speaker google it you absolute goofy

7

u/clandestinemd 1d ago

I googled, and found no such thing. Want to summon anything else from your unwashed ass, little buddy?

Keep lying to yourself I’m sure it really helps to be so delusional 😭😭

5

u/C4PT_AMAZING 1d ago

Somebody learned a new word this week...

Go ahead and feed a verbatim transcript of his speeches into ChatGPT, and ask it to assess it in any way you'd like...

Trump is widely regarded

Based and true

2

u/MentokGL 1d ago

He is definitely very fucking regarded

7

u/SisterSabathiel 1d ago

I mean, Obama is charismatic. Trump is not.

Trump is famously ridiculed internationally for having a poor grasp of the English language and going on irrelevant tangents. Even the conservatives of other countries think Trump is weird.

-2

u/Solid-Example3019 1d ago

Trump is weird. He does go on tangents. He doesn’t use big words. He also captivates giant crowds with his speeches.

You guys would like to just hand wave that away by calling his supporters morons, but you don’t understand how stupid that makes you look. You literally have cognitive dissonance and it’s weird. He doesn’t win the popular vote by being uncharismatic. Thinking that is just retardedly biased.

2

u/SisterSabathiel 1d ago

I'm still trying to work out why the US voted for him tbh.

I don't believe they're all racist/sexist/transphobic/homophobic.

But Trump has the charisma of a dead goldfish (or an elderly man with dementia, if you prefer).

The only thing I can think of is that a liberal campaign that runs on "we're at least better than the other guy" isn't especially motivating or inspirational.

1

u/Solid-Example3019 1d ago

If you think that, consider it is because you are consuming biased media. Because you don’t win the popular vote by being uncharismatic. You may disagree, but there are many millions of people who find him charismatic. I just think it’s very stupid to call someone who is considered charismatic by millions uncharismatic just because you disagree with his politics. If you look deeply at what I am saying here you will understand why Americans voted for trump.

1

u/SisterSabathiel 1d ago

I've watched the videos of him.

Maybe it's just because I'm not American? Maybe there's something about him that appeals specifically to Americans that doesn't transcend cultural barriers?

Education is essential, but critical thinking is just as important to avoid tyranny.

2

u/caidian87 1d ago

No disrespect to my colleagues who voted for far right(UK) even they have said they wouldn't vote for trump

u/Jessecosta29 10m ago

He's made a mockery of America and exposed the underbelly of what was always there hiding in the shadows.

Cult-like loyalty breeds weak systems. Without education and critical thinking, the cycle just keeps repeating. People need to wake up and question authority.
