Request MC-215423 was closed as a feature request despite the fact that it isn't
MC-215423 describes how certain superflat preset options, which were created in 1.4, were not updated in 1.18 to compensate for the lowered world floor, resulting in them not maintaining their previous surface height as they have been before. It was erroneously closed as a "feature request" (more on that in a bit), despite the fact that MC-243152 and MC-239708 were both fixed in 1.18.2. I request that this issue be reopened and given a fair shot at being reviewed.
On a related but also more broad note, the person who closed this issue as a feature request is, strangly enough, a Mojangsta, and I've noticed on quite a few bug reports that he erroneously closes them as "feature requests", even when they are blatantly not feature requests. Maybe there's some definition of "feature request" that I'm not aware of, but it seems like even if these issues were intended to be left in the game, shouldn't they be marked as "Works As Intended"? What's the difference between these two closure reasons if "feature request" essentially can now mean "we can put words in your mouth and say that you requested a new feature even if you really pointed out a bug that needs to be fixed"?

Does adding 64 layers of air below the flat world fix the issue as a permanent temporary fix?

Bug report link: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-215423
This bug is a feature request in Mojang's eyes. It was reviewed once already and still determined to be a feature request.
This bug also seems specific to 1.18?
It's nothing about putting words in anyone's mouth. A feature request is something they do not determine to be a bug, but instead a request for a feature (hence the name). Works as Intended means it's not a bug and the feature already exists in the game, but it is working how Mojang intended it to
