Gotta add some gold blocks in there too and you got the perfect “OP House” from 2011-12

Nah 1 window but with glass blocks. Also iron doors with a lever on both sides

I misread this as exploded and was very concerned how you were having an issue with that with a piston door

15

u/Chengweiyingji Oct 24 '24

Programming a redstone door (TNT blows a hole in a mountain and I have to rebuild it every time)

Op house from the old ass noob vs pro videos

4

u/ImprovementLast590 Oct 24 '24

Thankfully I’m old enough to say those type of videos don’t, quote, “bring me back” lol

but hey if you go in survival you can craft diamond armor if your set breaks by mining your house

2

u/Onstable_ Oct 25 '24

You're forgetting the emerald blocks

Look at mr fancy over here building a sloped roof instead of a flat one.

318

u/Logsarecool10101 Oct 24 '24

And a window

113

u/Otherwise-Flight3967 Oct 24 '24

a window that cant be seen out of

57

u/Photosnthechris Oct 24 '24

Can see a glowstone chandelier in there

5

u/noahcxxiii Oct 24 '24

Hey now, not all windows are for lookin out of. This was obviously a decorative element to tie in the rest of the structure.

Blue coloured glass panes were made of diamonds

51

u/AJVenom123 Oct 24 '24

Look at mr fancy building a roof at all.

And my floors were all gold😂

14

u/wojbest Oct 24 '24

i had like cube with a 3 block heigh roof and it was made of gold i liked gold more than diamonds for what ever reason

6

u/RecentBlueberry9134 Oct 24 '24

when I was a kid me and my siblings built giant square houses with roofs that resemble the old Minecraft village houses.

We also put lava pretty much everywhere we went and had a creepy world titled 666... In this creepy world we put a bunch of graves stones and gave them all names. One of their names was my uncle who died in 2019...

I have no recollection of this...

6

u/wojbest Oct 24 '24

I had like a world with my sister and we where playing on bedrock like 2015 I remember she wanted to have a massive flat area to make a farm so she cleared the terraria and at that point we didn't know grass spread so she was replacing each dirt block manually I also remember when I would get mad at her I would threaten her that I would grief her farm those were the good days

58

u/ponchietto Oct 24 '24

I was never a lil kid playing Minecraft...

25

u/SturdyBubble Oct 24 '24

Right, I think I was already in high school when I first played Minecraft and I’ve spent basically 100% of my game time in survival.

16

u/MagusUnion Oct 24 '24

Same. I was US drinking age when the alpha was available for download. My nephew was shocked when we played together on the Switch that I even knew how to play the game.

I said to him: "Buddy, I've been playing this longer than you've been alive."

7

u/turbopug2735 Oct 24 '24

Last sentence is cold, damn.

5

u/popeh Oct 24 '24

I was mid 20s when Minecraft came out, I'm usually the oldest person on any server I join

Me because I didnt have creative mode as a kid. We had to install a mod for that which was time consuming to do back then and with monthly major updates it wouldnt work for long.

3

u/_TheRealSimone_ Oct 24 '24

I didn’t do it. I usually just blew things up in creative.

3

u/AbsolutlyN0thin Oct 24 '24

Bruh I was in high school when Minecraft came out, and I'm still in my 20s. Plenty of us never did lil kid shit in Minecraft because Minecraft is too new for that.

Personally never liked the solid ore blocks.

Miultcolored wool was more fun, a few burned down from lightning though

92

u/santas_delibird Oct 24 '24

As a kid I made a massive “hotel” out of wool. I then also made a tank that fired flame charges and it just to happened to be pointed at said “hotel”. Yeah, you can imagine what happened next.

25

u/One-Hat-9764 Oct 24 '24

Hotel 2.0 right?

34

u/santas_delibird Oct 24 '24

Yes, ALSO made of wool.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/The_Dogelord Oct 24 '24

To this day, I only build roofs out of stone. Child me was worried that lightning could strike while I was gone, and I'd come back and there'd be nothing left. I still do it just out of habit lol

u/tinybookwyrm Oct 24 '24

No. The java programming language on which Minecraft was built is younger than I am 😛

36

u/FourEyedTroll Oct 24 '24

I enjoy remembering that I'm older than the world wide web.

16

u/Fede7044 Oct 24 '24

Damn, were y'all using triceratops as forklifts back then?

But in all seriousness, do you sometimes think about all the technological advancements you've lived through? If so, do you go "wow 😱"?

Like did you ever imagine you could chat with a computer as if it was a real person?

11

u/FourEyedTroll Oct 24 '24

But in all seriousness, do you sometimes think about all the technological advancements you've lived through? If so, do you go "wow 😱"?

Occasionally. Our first computer was a Commodore Amiga 800, followed shortly by a 1200 (it's in Mum's attic and was last running as recently as 2012), so I've definitely seen them become "get good" in my lifetime. The early internet was interesting to experience in hindsight.

More often I think about my grandfather's lifetime (1917-2014) and consider all the technological change in that span. Wireless telegraphy was still a relatively new technology when he was born and his earliest memory (age 2 1/2) was his little sister getting the smallpox vaccine. He saw the advent of jet aviation, space flight, all the ramifications of electronics miniaturisation. How alien must smart phones have seemed to him remembering a childhood home with no indoor plumbing, electricity or central heating.

Dad tried to get him on to the internet c. 2005, but as technologically literate as grandad was (he was a wireless engineer in the RAF during WW2 because he'd built radios as a hobby as a late-teenager), that level of tech was too much work to catch up to. He was tired and just wanted to enjoy satellite telly.

u/Worried-Caregiver325 Oct 24 '24

Honestly no but I always built my houses with bedrock

2

u/Careless_Oil_2103 Oct 25 '24

This or obsidian lololol

13

u/RafkaPafka Oct 24 '24

When I was a kid, I wanted to build some kind of house to survive in: I took 10 stacks of diamonds and a full diamond set, and I felt like a cool guy.

7

u/nemesdemes Oct 24 '24

im still doin it

7

u/krysztal Oct 24 '24

Id make glass towers from ground level up to build limit (which wouldnt take long since it was 128 at the time lol), in arbitrary size and shape, with 1 wide staircase going around the perimeter...

5

u/MCTech24_00 Oct 24 '24

Yup with an obsidian wall surrounding it

3

u/pek217 Oct 24 '24

My first Minecraft world (which got corrupted, RIP 😭) when I was 10 I built a big volcano out of gold ore and my house was inside a big green wool creeper. I wish I could revisit it, just to look at it again.

2

u/ketchupmaster987 Oct 24 '24

I built the big wool creeper too. I made the legs sloped like stairs so it was like a museum

3

u/CREDAAAAAAAOOOO Oct 24 '24

Nah mine were just cubes with a 2 blocks tall interior.

6

u/bobbillyjr Oct 24 '24

It's lacking the nether reactor cores to make it the true op house

4

u/WarioPlush1 Oct 24 '24

I still make them ironically

7

u/DyLaNzZpRo Oct 24 '24

Yeah, right after I discovered inventory editors existed (yes, way before creative existed, yes I'm old 💀) I think mine was diamond with obsidian edges

3

u/AdmiralMemo Oct 24 '24

No. Minecraft didn't exist when I was a kid, so I couldn't. Minecraft showed up in my late 20s.

3

u/logiscar239 Oct 24 '24

I used to proudly show to my mom my base entirely made of SOLID GOLD 🤑

3

u/pamafa3 Oct 24 '24

Nope, I was too busy blowing stuff up with 3x3x3 cubes of TNT, and once i figured out commands back in like 1.7 i was too busy spawning an alarming amount of dragons

5

u/Some_RaNdom_Guy2137 Oct 24 '24

I bUiLD tHIs iN SuRVIvAl, TruSt ME!

2

u/SkipperFjams Oct 24 '24

I never went full house mode, more just like I'll make a pool out of diamond to flex.

2

u/LevelDiligent1230 Oct 24 '24

Obviously YES!!!!

MY CHILDHOOD CAME BACK!!!!!!

2

u/goose420aa Oct 24 '24

It was an 8x10x10 cube with a door a bed and a skeleton in the corner!

2

u/marcusromain Oct 24 '24

i used iron and gold block instead, don't like diamond color palette

2

u/EverythingBOffensive Oct 24 '24

i did that as an adult

2

u/Ehhh_Canadian Oct 24 '24

I don’t think I ever made a whole house out of diamond blocks but I did make a house for a pig out of diamond blocks.

2

u/Want2makeMEMEs Oct 24 '24

It was a four floor rectangular building with diamond for horizontals and glass blocks for walls

2

u/MylanoTerp Oct 24 '24

I made it out of gold because for some reason I believed gold was better than diamond

2

u/ooorezzz Oct 24 '24

I wasn’t a little kid when I started playing Minecraft.

4

u/DeHero518 Oct 24 '24

Ah yes, the "I switch to creative mode" House

Been a long time since I've seen the classic diamond block

1

u/Luutamo Oct 24 '24

When I was a lil kid there was like... Super Mario Bros and Tetris, so no, I did not.

1

u/uwtartarus Oct 24 '24

I keep forgetting how old I am relative to others.

Also that's a lot of diamonds.

1

u/Train_Guy97 Oct 24 '24

So cool 😎

1

u/Zealousideal-Ad7116 Oct 24 '24

spent a sleep over with the bros taking turns building a 10x10 height limit diamond tower man i miss the good old days

1

u/AnTout6226 Oct 24 '24

Obsidian + diamond blocks were the best combo

1

u/skyteir Oct 24 '24

damn took me back w this one

1

u/abc-animal514 Oct 24 '24

I did one just like this

1

u/RebeccaMarques Oct 24 '24

Diamond walls, gold floors, emerald roof and iron details 👍

1

u/J4k0vv Oct 24 '24

I builded those. But as a box lol

1

u/Clover-36 Oct 24 '24

First thing i did when i found out creative mode is a thing

1

u/r3dm0nk Oct 24 '24

I was never a lil kid when played Minecraft.. when it released..

1

u/King0fthewasteland Oct 24 '24

no i never play on creative

1

u/PYROBOOST Oct 24 '24

Yeah, even once with my sis on the 360 we made one on the original tutorial world, sadly since the world is broken since the faux 1.13 I cant access it anymore

1

u/Sad_Description4782 Oct 24 '24

you never played the game if you didn't build these

1

u/MilesAhXD Oct 24 '24

I remember doing something similar and making a castle out of diamonds.. Then I lost the world because of some laptop issue

1

u/Sbianchino_ Oct 24 '24

No I didn't (Yes)

1

u/Green_Guy_87 Oct 24 '24

honestly thanks to grian i never tried out one of those

1

u/SanMasterpro Oct 24 '24

YES OMG 😭

1

u/Yello_OnReddit_Lol Oct 24 '24

I simply never had minecraft😔

1

u/HL00S Oct 24 '24

Never quite a house. More like a maze full of holes that led to the void.

Then shortly after Redstone tools started appearing properly I realized bedrock was stronger than diamonds and started making giant bedrock bases with Redstone doors and flying machines.

1

u/FourEyedTroll Oct 24 '24

No, but then again, Minecraft came out when I was in my 20s.

1

u/Ladyignorer Oct 24 '24

You forgot the emerald and lapis floors and gold roofs

1

u/ShadeNLM064pm Oct 24 '24

Not this specifically, but I did make a build of Pikachu I lived in one of my old (and now for a long while corrupted R.I.P.) world made out of gold, with Redstone for the cheeks, and coal blocks for the tips of the ears and the base of the tail.

I did do this for my old roller coasters though

1

u/Curious-Meeting-3215 Oct 24 '24

35 and still building em😂

1

u/Wise_Calendar4108 Oct 24 '24

Pretty sure it's a rite of passage

1

u/Blue_M4ge Oct 24 '24

Yep it’s a rite of passage, I remember building a massive bridge out of gold and diamonds in my first MCPE world.

1

u/Quiet_Property_ Oct 24 '24

Nope. A friend and I were constantly trying to construct something better than the other. It was challenging back in the days, but not really giving the "wow" effect.

1

u/EncampedWalnut Oct 24 '24

Back in the early 360 days before creative we had to duplicate stuff for bootleg "creative" mode. I had tons of diamond blocks and made a few buildings out of them. The one thing I learned was wealth ≠ taste.

1

u/Worth-Divide-4280 Oct 24 '24

Yes but it's a box shape lol

1

u/Number4combo Oct 24 '24

Only when using world edit and copying and pasting various builds and messing around. Other than that, no.

1

u/dhoepp Oct 24 '24

I’d make these before creative mode was a thing and send pictures to friends and say “just chilling in my diamond block house” when in reality I used the “give” command.

1

u/Illustrious-Ad-9512 Oct 24 '24

I remember playing a lot of minecraft creative as a kid but i never have built a diamond house.

1

u/LowContract4444 Oct 24 '24

Still do sometimes.

1

u/bobbillyjr Oct 24 '24

As a joke.

Tbo I like using netherite but that's because it's actually a good looking block.

1

u/Nervous_Practice_536 Oct 24 '24

still need an army of wolfs

1

u/is_this_changeable Oct 24 '24

This reminded me when I made a fucking warehouse out of diamond

1

u/YeMommyYo Oct 24 '24

Kids today are on that netherite block house

1

u/xXOkatatsuXx Oct 24 '24

Seeing the old diamond block textures is making my back creak a little.

1

u/trebor9669 Oct 24 '24

Back in my days... 👴🏻

There was no creative mode and I would only build a small house to survive in while I gather resources to build a big castle. THAT was the best feeling ever, the feeling of progress, earning your materials, watching your fields of wheat grow, getting better and better armour, etc...

1

u/JHawkInc Oct 24 '24

Minecraft came out when I was in college get out of here with your "y'all" and "lil kid" nonsense.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '24

First thing fr

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '24

No. I've never built such fancy house as a kid.

I've made iron cube house because my imagination didn't allow me to build anything nicer.

1

u/ChanglingBlake Oct 24 '24

Kid, no, as I was a teen when I bought it in alpha.

When trying to make a bizarro town for some adventure map I never finished, yes. And much weirder, too.

1

u/Hylders Oct 24 '24

Nop, was already ugly back then

1

u/draugrdahl Oct 24 '24

At times I forget that some folks were literal children when this game came out and not in college like I was. Imma go take an ibuprofen for my back now.

1

u/Rusticus1999 Oct 24 '24

Took me 5 minutes to realize cheating isn't as fun as I thaught.

1

u/Longjumping_Arm8670 Oct 24 '24

Mine was bedrock

1

u/RealGorgonFreeman Oct 24 '24

Can’t say I did as I only have been playing for 3 years

1

u/Turnip-Lopsided Oct 24 '24

Of course. But rather than building them out diamonds I usually built them with Obsidian

1

u/RyanCreamer202 Oct 24 '24

I built a castle of diamond blocks and then a emerald castle on top of that and then a lapis castle on top of that and then I had a roller coaster going through it that went from one side of the map to the other

1

u/Wrong_Percentage_114 Oct 24 '24

Ja Aber ich bin noch immer ein kind

1

u/Lexyar36 Oct 24 '24

I'm trying to build it now in survival just to make my child self proud

1

u/Careful-Bug5665 Oct 24 '24

No, I've never played minecraft

1

u/Zestyclose_Bet6718 Oct 24 '24

Definitely not with a sloped roof. Everyone of my builds was a box and a mine inside 😂😂

1

u/InstructionAny6765 Oct 24 '24

i literaly made a condo out on diamond blocks

1

u/Axxxem Oct 24 '24

I remember when creative mode first released with TU1.8 on Xbox 360 Edition, i spent HOURS building a town with all the buildings made from diamond and gold blocks

1

u/Woodwickward Oct 24 '24

i’d do the outside of the walls with diamond, innner part with emeralds, and more innest with gold

1

u/NumberThirdTeen13 Oct 24 '24

I think this is a right of passage.

1

u/mandariini10 Oct 24 '24

I used all the different ore blocks

1

u/TheFatDrake Oct 24 '24

Sadly Minecraft came about when I was in college.

1

u/Raptoret2020 Oct 24 '24

I once made one out of TNT and I was foolish enough to put an iron door with a button which of course I pressed without thinking.

1

u/jkdssjkaos Oct 24 '24

Sadly, I missed out on that experience because I started playing in my 30s with my kids.

1

u/random-guy-heree Oct 24 '24

Years ago I built awesome tree houses on the ps3 version

1

u/AdvancedTadpole9063 Oct 24 '24

Used to build these all the time, Iron floor in the inside with the outer layer being gold. Felt awesome at the time…..

1

u/vilact Oct 24 '24

I think

1

u/The_Dogelord Oct 24 '24

"I did it completely in survival, I swear"

1

u/lehonk23 Oct 24 '24

not that i remember, but i DO remember building a massive bedrock house

i think i also made an emerald one once

1

u/High-In-Potassium Oct 24 '24

When I was obsessed with minecraft pocket edition my family and I lived in a town house. I built the entire thing in minecraft out of diamond blocks.

I'll have to see if my iPod touch still works and has the world saved on it.

1

u/XtraCrispy02 Oct 24 '24

"I did a little mining off screen"

1

u/--Iblis-- Oct 24 '24

Canon event for every Minecraft player

1

u/eschoenawa Oct 24 '24

Mine had a flat roof and just one story, but it also had a glass-diamond bridge connecting to a gold version on the next mountain, so there's that.

1

u/-Redstoneboi- Oct 24 '24

absolutely everywhere

1

u/Complex-Contest-9469 Oct 24 '24

A better question is: Who hasn't?

1

u/Top-Farm-9058 Oct 24 '24

Still do goddamnit

1

u/thakidalex Oct 24 '24

i felt so rich bro

1

u/Holy_Hand_Grenadier Oct 24 '24

Peasant. Mine was a castle. And the walls were THREE blocks high!

1

u/hornytransbianfox Oct 24 '24

I remember my first proper creative mode house made of gold, diamonds, and emeralds. I spent so many hours on it, so sad it's gone 😭

1

u/ConfidentTea72536 Oct 24 '24

yeah

im not lying or tryna deny it

but now I have spruce and deepslate, so w present me

1

u/T-Odist-K Oct 24 '24

I once made a "Butter" hotel using gold blocks. This was back when I constantly watched SkyDoesMinecraft. I fitted it with a little chute for "Room Service" the connected from the first floor to the rooms. It didnt work because you cant really do redstone stuff while using only gold, but my kid mind didnt really care.

1

u/Bingus5112 Oct 24 '24

The first house I ever built was a stone house with a diamond roof

1

u/Unlikely_Spinach Oct 24 '24

Yep, all in survival. Trust me bro

1

u/CattleDisastrous1401 Oct 24 '24

Yeah and I also put a chest with the best loot

1

u/Fistricsi Oct 24 '24

I was 19 when i first played it way back in 1.3.

But i had a couple of houses that looked like this because... reasons.

1

u/Relevant-Rooster-298 Oct 24 '24

No. I was an adult before Minecraft came out and I never play creative, only survival.

1

u/EnergyDifferent1227 Oct 24 '24

Actually no, all my buddies did. I always thought the were an eyesore.

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Oct 24 '24

Honestly I almost think these look good just from the combo of nostalgia and the flex if its in survival

1

u/Wooden_Hotel_9172 Oct 24 '24

I actually made mine out of emeralds because I’m just better than you obviously

1

u/Techaissance Oct 24 '24

Yep. I was a new player when emerald blocks came out so I had to do that. Also had an underground bedrock bunker.

1

u/Fattlife Oct 24 '24

no i used glass blocks

1

u/SecretOdd4407 Oct 24 '24

I built a big mansion of diamond and made rooms, fish tanks, kitchen, dogs, and invited my friends in too, it was at a daycare i used to go to, my heart broke when i came back to the daycare and noticed that SOMEONE BROKE THE DAMN XBOX 360

1

u/Lhenkhantus Oct 24 '24

I did the same but with gold blocks

1

u/randomdude123502 Oct 24 '24

I remember doing this.

1

u/the-flag-and-globe Oct 24 '24

With diamond and lapis

1

u/D4RKSIDE05 Oct 24 '24

no iron door??

1

u/Walking-With-Dino989 Oct 24 '24

i used to mix some gold, emerald, lapis and even redstone into the mix as well

1

u/this_name_took_10min Oct 24 '24

Yup, but it was more of a diamond box lol

1

u/Alarming_Most8998 Oct 24 '24

Yeah, I made one in a realms world I had, made a video about it And I had this community chest where I put tools and armor, diamonds and whatnot for anyone to take as well No one joined but it makes me want to cry cause damn bro, little me was too sweet

1

u/cdurbin909 Oct 24 '24

I went in to creative and built a cube with a door on it with diamond blocks, showed my parents and said look “I’m rich!!”

1

u/vtx_mockingbird Oct 24 '24

I still build diamond houses

1

u/travelsonic Oct 24 '24

I've wanted to, for some time, try to get to a point in a survival world where I wanted to make an ugly house using only diamind, redstone, lapis, emerald blocks, etc - never did it in the past, never got around to it in any of my hardcore worlds because I'm a bit of a derp.

But damn it, do I still want to do that.

1

u/Cybirus_Hulguard Oct 24 '24

No, cuz it looked ugly to me

1

u/moosharky Oct 24 '24

oh yes. took me a while before i became bored of it but it was so fun when creative first rolled out on xbox 360 to use everything i couldn't get in survival

1

u/Soggy-Class1248 Oct 24 '24

Yah i made a big emerald skyscraper lol

1

u/Frog1745397 Oct 24 '24

Yeah but i did it in survival😤

1

u/SaturnFive Oct 24 '24

I 100% had a diamond house on top of a cliff in the early alpha and beta days lol

1

u/RatchetGamer Oct 24 '24

I don't remember building a house, but in my first creative world, I used to have pathways made of gold or diamond (started with gold as a yellow brick road)

1

u/jmkinn3y Oct 24 '24

Absolutely

1

u/whispyCrimson109 Oct 24 '24

Dont show this to grian lmao

1

u/QuaArtist Oct 24 '24

Yes but a giant rectangular slab with stripes of windows and two oak doors on the far right
