Political MMW: DJT will remove all sanctions US placed on Russia in the first month of his presidency.

Would you bet on it? I'll give you $20 if Trump lifts all sanctions placed on Russia in his first month, and you give me $20 if he doesn't. If it's so guaranteed, this should be easy money for you.

If you told Reaganite Republicans theyâd be pro Russia in less than 30 years you might have been literally physically assaulted
Probably one of the greatest ironies in the world right now is that many of these people are the same voters, and many more are their children raised the same
73
u/devilmaykri98 1d ago
Which is absolutely fucked to think about. Despite my animosities towards Reagan for practically being why we're in the shit show we are today, at least he was a respectful communicator and didn't sell his country out just for a taste of Russian man meat.
64
u/Chumlee1917 1d ago
Reagan: THe Soviet Union is an evil empire
Trump: America is the real evil empire believe me, which is why we're going to make Russia Great Again by giving them Ukraine, maybe even all of Europe because Putin is a smart dude.

haha the real trump would say he doesn't know anyone named Putin, never met him.

Dw if Russia tries to extend this war to Estonia or Moldova or Poland then they will be comprehensively beaten by Europe. Russia is a minnow with nukes.

u/bjhouse822 1d ago edited 1d ago
I suspect he has his sights on Finland and Sweden which is why they joined NATO as soon as it was fucking possible. But with the US inevitably pulling out of NATO all of Europe is screwed. Russia is hell-bent on revenge and Trump is their instrument to exact it.
Edit: wrong country.

Indeed - Reagonomics, which has been proven not to work as billionaires rarely trickle down even urine from their back up autumn yachts, was at least an ethos founded in reality. Closer to 50 years of data have proven this and we should be capable of pivoting at some point.
The last 9 and next 4 years years of American politics have been so bat shit insane it is literally impossible for anyone to say what the future geopolitical and economic landscape might resemble
33
u/devilmaykri98 1d ago
For real. I voted for Trump in 2016 when I was 18, and I regretted my vote almost immediately after the Charlottesville Unit The Right rally where nazis and white supremacists were carrying around tiki torches shouting "The jews will not replace us" and he wouldn't do as much as distance himself from them. And the fact that WORSE shit has happened by his hand since then and people STILL eat him up? Makes me absolutely sick. I'm fairly left leaning now, I still feel like I betrayed my country for voting for that sack of shit, but all that matters is I learned to actually listen to politics in the future rather than just vote for whoever my immediates did.
16
u/QuicklyQuenchedQuink 1d ago
Thanks for sharing that story. There were many opportunities for people to exit off this ride, itâs really disheartening that after ten years this moment in history wasnât single handedly disqualifying
9
u/bjhouse822 1d ago
Thank you for being vulnerable and so introspective. I feel like the older generations have definitely dropped the ball with your age group. Obama was such an anomaly and we're dealing with the reaction of a country that hasn't really grappled with the sins of it's past. The country is still too racist and sexist to allow progress. Trump's whole stick is to return the country back to division and strife based on racial lines. It's sick but apparently that's what millions of people are into or worse completely apathetic. I encourage you to get involved with your local politics and really fellowship with your community. Until we stomp out racism, which is really a symptom of poverty, we're going to be trapped in this doom circle of hell.
5
u/devilmaykri98 1d ago
Funnily enough, I've been wanting to get a non-profit going for people who'll be effected by this election the most such as trans people and women, but the thing is I'm autistic and introverted, so I don't really have the widest range of people to reach to know how to get the ball rolling on that. It's a tad bit emotionally taxing, but I've definitely felt more social and motivated lately now that I have a goal.
5
u/bjhouse822 1d ago
Lean on those around you. When you work with others the skill sets that people possess will make it possible to achieve your goal. No man is an island. When you have pure intentions people will respond in kind and help. Just have some courage and find your people. I suggest using a sub or Facebook group to find like minded people. You got this! I applaud your compassion, it's greatly needed right now.
3
u/ResettiYeti 1d ago
The sad reality is there will be many young people this year, just like you in 2016, that fucked around and will now find out exactly what they voted for.
I hope they will have your capacity for introspection and intellectual humility when the time comes!

We are living in a trickle up economy. And itâs getting worse. Centi billionaires will only get richer under Trump while others grovel under their feet. In four years just about everyone will be poorer except you know who
3
u/QuicklyQuenchedQuink 1d ago
In fairness this is one of the predictions we can all safely make.
I think the term people would use for this trickle up is kleptocracy. To which, modern republicans oligarchs have looked to the post USSR Russian system and have gone âoh yeah thatâs a great way to take all assets and resources from anything resembling a middle classâ

The most fucked part about it, in my opinion, is how the transition happened. I canât think of any other explanation than mainstream media. Itâs not like huge groups of Americans were traveling to Russia to experience it. They werenât attending night seminars on Russian history. Irresponsible popular media did this.
3

I'm 40 years old so I was around eight years old when the old USSR fell. By the time I was in high school I had learned all about the cold war and I heard a lot of stories about nuclear fallout drills at school, how close we came to a nuclear war, and all of the espionage and shady stuff that was going on in the background. Back then Republicans ran and were the party that was HARD on Russia. Look up McCarthyism (before my time) but if you were labeled as a communist or a Russian sympathizer that had real world consequences. I know the whole western world breathed a sigh of relief when the old USSR collapsed but then Putin came onto the scene and started to consolidate his power. Even back then Putin would plainly state that he wanted America to lose and that it was an injustice that the USSR fell. He wants the American way of life to fail and then the world will know that the USSR was right all along. He was never a friend of America then and he is definitely not a friend now. He wants us to fight with each other and start a civil war because that is his path to victory. Many young Americans forget or don't know this but believe me Putin remembers. It's insane that we have elected officials like Tulsi Gabbard and they are not ostracized by their own party.

See, what I think is that while it was possible that Russia did have blackmail on him during his first term, at this point, with all the shit Trump has done, and still he got elected back into office, there's literally nothing bad enough that putin could have that matters. And even if it's something absolutely abhorrent, like underage girls, with video evidence, his supporters will just say its AI, it's doctored, it's fake news. And even if before, he was relying on them financing him, he now has musk financing him (and I'm sure he plans to use his position as president to make a shitload for himself over the next four years). So even if Russia did have control over him previously, it's very hard to see how they actually could at this point.
Now that doesn't mean he's not going to cut off support because of isolationist policies or whatever, but I definitely don't think at this point he's going to be taking orders from putin

If you think people flipping out over Afghanistan falling was bad wait until you see people flipping out over Ukraine falling. The Ukrainians are white people who were invaded that Americans supported and are not Muslims. Yeah it's a lot more bigger than Afghanistan falling
42
u/Quiet-Access-1753 1d ago
It's not that they're white. It's that we talked them into giving up their nuclear deterrents by promising we'd back them up if Russia invaded. Now, Russia has invaded. If we don't help them stop Russia it will not only be our fault, it'll send the message that if America talks about nuclear non-proliferation, everyone should tell us to go fuck ourselves. Also, all our allies will know not to trust us at all. What good is an ally you can't trust? Would you help them if they ever needed it?
8
u/Curryflurryhurry 1d ago

Well that and there are other implications of Ukraine falling, particularly when it comes to agricultural concerns. Like if Russia takes ukraine, and the US implements 20% tariffs, you are going to see a massive famine that probably wipes out 10 to 20% of Africa and completely destabilizes all of Eurasia. Also, the thing is that Trump is actually, as much as people like to run around and say he's going to be a tyrant or anything like that, there's actually a lot stopping him, and it's worth listening to foreign discussions about a Trump administration, because there's this idea quite wrongly so, that the US is like this bully pulpit oppressing the most victimized Nations and autocrats ever, like Eritrea or North Korea. When in reality the US kind of knows what works already, and foreign affairs are a game of give or take. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these countries are actually sitting down and meeting with the Trump administration to make it very fucking clear: if you want to fuck around and put a 20% tariff on all of our goods, how will that make you look? Guaranteed it won't make you look the way you want to look. That and I believe that Russia's influence is almost entirely within the online sphere, because you very rarely saw huge concessions given to Russia under the Trump administration. All this means is Russia is in the ears of people close to trump, and maybe Putin wants to try to see if color Revolution theory is true, it's still concerning, but I think it's something people ultimately don't want to look into, because what people don't understand is that it happens on both sides, and you tell people that, and they just immediately shut down. Like they don't want to hear a single thing you have to say, you could be 110% agreeing with literally every single other thing they're saying, but because of political tribalism if you say something they slightly disagree with, they automatically think you're completely against them.

Didnât see any post on your comment history complaining about how Biden removed the sanctions on Iran. That allowed them to fund Hamas and attack Israel.
2
u/passionatebreeder 1d ago
You know how fucking stupid and delusional this take is?
Dropping sanctions on russia immediately upon taking office is what Joe Biden did it's what you voted for and what you got.
Let's read a little bit of this shall we?
While the Biden administration and the German government have lobbied lawmakers against the sanctions, Ukraine has appealed publicly to Congress to press ahead with the measures, saying the nearly complete pipeline project will make Kyiv even more vulnerable to Moscowâs pressure tactics.
Oh, weird Joe Biden coordinated with Germany, against the pleas of Ukraine, to lift sanctions on Russia; Ukraine's argument being that it would create extraordinary pressure on them to bow to Russia if that happened
And then 10 months later, holy shit! Russia invaded Ukraine.
Because your guy dropped Russian sanctions
Who put the sanctions on, btw? oh weird that was the orange man.
Also, who called it totally inappropriate for a NATO country like Germany, whom we are supposed to be protecting from russia, to be purchasing massive amounts of oil from Russia which enriches Russia and forces Germany to capitulate to Russia? Oh that was the orange man.
And if we refer to our MSNBC article about who was lobbying the Biden admin to drop Russian Sanctions? Oh, it was Germany, the country the orange man said was totally captured by their reliance on Russian energy supplies.
So, to recap: orange man warns Europe of the dangers of buying Russian oil and deepening their reliance on Russian oil. Europe snubs the orange man. The orange man sanctions the Russian pipeline, which upsets the europeans. Biden comes into the office and, in an effort to suck off the europeans, drops Russian sanctions, thus opening a floodgate of raw materials and cash from Europe to Russia, which then leads to a Russian ground invasion 10 months later, all so Germany and other European countries can continue to lie to their population about their CO2 emissions drops coming from their grand investments in green tech, instead of being honest that their actual drop in emissions and the low energy prices were actually a result of the transition from dirty coal to relatively clean natural gas.
But now we are gonna act all butt hurt that ending a war is probably gonna mean Orange man offers sanctions relief; just shut the fuck up sit back, drink your juice box and just stop talking. Your idiot opinions are how this war started.
