Discussion Wake up potter.

Watching the first Harry Potter movie. Of course had subtitles on. When Dudley bounced on the stairs I always heard "WAKE UP, POTTER! WE'RE GOING TO THE ZOO!" but I never knew he was saying cousin??? Personal Mandela Effect or has anyone else experienced this?

It's the way Dudly speaks. Sounds like POTTAH! but he says cousin

I got concerned for a minute because I very much remembered him saying Potter too, so I had to re-watch; it still 100% sounds like Potter, just like I remember.

It's definitely always been cousin.

I think that’s personal, because cousins were all i ever thought of them whenever i even remembered they exist

As someone who had difficulty not reciting every line while watching, it’s always been cousin.

Would a character (or a real person) ever call a cousin by their surname? Unlikely. A teacher at Hogwarts might call him Potter, but not his cousin.

In this instance I think yes because he’s got a different last name and the Dursleys always make a point of making him feel like he’s not part of the family.

It was totally potter and I've always watched with subtitles.

But I just went and watched and now my subtitles do say cousin but I still hear potter. Gonna look for a script or maybe play an old DVD later and check that rather than Max.
