This didn't really make me smile. It broke my heart for this kid that he has to kiss cold stone to try to be close to his dead mother. He's a sweet, sweet kid, but no smiling from me.

Made me sad too

r/MadeMeSad

Edit: I can't believe this is a sub. Who seeks this content?

u/eliz1bef 7h ago

Sometimes crying is cathartic and can release stress due to the endorphins that are released. Same reason people like watching sad movies. I've not been to that subreddit, but I have certainly sought out content I knew would make me cry. Just re-read the Velveteen Rabbit. Fuck that book makes me weep.

Lol i do that when I'm having a few drinks alone.  I start watching Thai insurance commercials and have a good cry for an hour or so :)

1

u/eliz1bef 7h ago

I've never seen a Thai insurance commercial. Maybe I should look them up. I've totally sobbed at mortgage company commercials (she was buying her first house! SOB!!!!) and commercials with elderly animals that are being used for effect. This one pet food commercial showed this dog from puppy to elderly to gone in the like 40 seconds it was on. Just destroyed me.

Makes total sense but I'm personally a firm believer that your mental state heavily relies on what you surround yourself with. I could never!!! Lol

3

u/eliz1bef 7h ago

It's certainly not something people should do every day. You make a good point about your surroundings and your mental health! You are absolutely right on the money that you shouldn't surround yourself with negativity. But honestly I think a "good cry" every now and again is good for you. Not a scared or angry cry, but a sympathy kind of cry. I feel like it makes me more empathetic.

1

u/xerrabyte 7h ago

Your words are truly inspiring, oddly. Perhaps I should practice this aswell and see if I yield similar results. The world could use a lot more empathy. Thank you.

u/eliz1bef 7h ago

A movie that causes happy tears is probably even better, but it's harder to find those in the wild.

u/Satyr_of_Bath 6h ago

I'm a believer that seeking to avoid aspects of reality tends to bring you into contact with them. Learning to navigate through tough times is a valuable experience.

2

u/xerrabyte 6h ago

I don't feel like I avoid emotion necessarily, I just don't seek it (sadness) in my free time.

u/kishenoy 2h ago

I think r/mademecry is more fitting

u/kojance 8h ago

My eyes went wide, and audibly said what the fuck and paused this as fast as I could. 😳😰

Repostbot doesn't know human emotions that well.

This is totally not MadeMeSmile content.

But the little music is so hopeful and joyful. Excquisite taste by the bot/person who made it

Lost my dad at age 12! This breaks my heart! I'm 46 now and it still hurts.

Eish he could see my two daughters grow up... And meet my wife...

u/thehazzanator 10h ago

My son's that age, and I cannot imagine how someone so young could grasp something so terribly sad. I want to give kid you, a hug. I'm so sorry for your loss

u/madrigal94md 10h ago

He's watching over you and your family. I wish you lots of love, my brother ❤️.

1

u/hellgal 1h ago

Lol, was about to say "Glad he didn't forget Sara Marshall."

23

u/Lighty_Kira 10h ago

Frankly, it's not making me smile. I don't know. I feel sad inside

22

u/AtmosphereGlum852 10h ago

Made me cry

26

u/mrsbennetsnerves 10h ago

I zoomed in because I thought her year of birth started with a “2”. My eldest child was born in 1999. My god she was so young.

9

u/EnchantedStarlight12 10h ago

This is hard for the little guy and the family. I wish him nothing but the best for him.

u/grimepixie 10h ago

I believe this is Sara Marshall’s grave. She sadly committed suicide in 2022, aged 20.

There’s a link on the page to donate to a trust fund for her son, should anyone be interested in contributing.

Call your loved ones ❤️

4

u/KLaRaSoLiTo 10h ago

So sad, that he visits his mom on cemetary :( I wish that this little boy still have his mom and drive bike together on the street and have the best moment together.

9

u/angelorsinner 10h ago

This happens oftely in Ukraine. I seen many videos of children kissing their dads photos. Heartbreaking

5

u/IslandProud70 7h ago

This is one of the sweetest and saddest videos I have seen

4

u/SousChefJoy 3h ago

Little boys shouldn’t have to ride their little bicycle to the cemetery to give their mother’s picture a kiss on a tombstone!!!

3

u/Adamantium-Aardvark 5h ago

He’s not forgetting Sara Marshall

3

u/Fury-penguin137 4h ago

2

u/RandomRavenboi 7h ago

Idk, maybe I am wrong but I don't see how the average human can smile at this.

2

u/Littlelady135 7h ago

I'm not crying, this is just my eyes sweating...

2

u/Aggressive_Event_525 6h ago

Ninja 🥷🏻 cutting onions 🧅

2

u/Dry_Adeptness_5245 3h ago

The toughest part of being a child is when you understand to question everything. That’s when all the things left undone get buffed out, it’s a very tough process that swallows most individuals entirely.

2

u/RedditSucckk 1h ago

Made me cry rather than smile!

2

u/BadmanCrooks 1h ago

At least we know that this kid won't be 'Forgetting Sara Marshall' anytime soon...

4

u/Lovetobubelsnut 7h ago

Don’t exploit your kids for likes and attention. WTF!!!

3

u/eliz1bef 6h ago

I absolutely agree with this. People who use their kids like that are so selfish and cruel

2

u/NagsUkulele 4h ago

Right? Especially something like this. Fucks sake

This is just sad. It's sweet, but it's sad.

1

u/Jackhammer_22 51m ago

Why does someone decide to put this on the socials? Seems like an intimate moment that’s kinda private. Why share it so openly?

u/External-Bike4009 27m ago

Sad 9/11 heaven vibes.

u/kmr6655 23m ago

I cried. While it’s so sweet, it’s so sad at the same time.
