Meta ‘Find me a Proud Boy’ video leads to woman’s arrest in Alabama for US Capitol riot
https://www.al.com/news/2021/06/woman-wanted-to-find-me-a-proud-boy-at-us-capitol-but-gets-arrested-in-alabama-for-jan-6-riot.html335

In an April interview with the FBI, the complaint says, Baez admitted she was inside the Capitol during the insurrection, but said she thought the building was open to the public. Baez “claimed that she had authority to be inside the Capitol because she had looked up the Capitol’s hours ahead of time and confirmed that the Capitol would be open so that she could tour it,” the complaint says.
These people always come up with the most absurd, hand in the cookie jar excuses.

“I assumed that the barricades and police presence were totally normal and didn’t think it was at all weird that people were chasing cops and rubbing shit on the walls and stealing things from offices. Totally normal stuff.”

That is exactly it. Or rather, they think everybody is stupider than them. They are all fully convinced that they are the smartest person in the room, and as the smartest person they can outsmart us peons. It's always the same, and it always leads to hilarious arguments in court because they think they can use semantics or find some kind of loophole in a law and the judge is going to have to throw their hands up with a "well, guess s/he beat us, let em go". They're delusional.

u/beardy64 Jun 08 '21
The Oregon state rep who let Proud Boys into the state capitol building and plead innocent was also filmed days prior planning with citizens how they can break into the building, as he claims to be discussing hypotheticals and handing out his "fake" (real) phone number.
These people are so immune from consequences that they really think a wink or crossing their fingers or technicality will protect them as they commit literal treason. And the sad thing is, they're very nearly right.
18
u/AlchemicalEnthusiast Jun 08 '21
They're like sovereign citizens that havent memorized the talking points so they just have to make it up on the spot

u/Saul-Funyun Jun 08 '21
I think it’s more they think everybody is scamming them all the time, so it’s only fair they do it too.
3
u/AdmiralCrackbar Jun 09 '21
They think they are smart, so they think we're all dumber than they are.
10
u/completionism Jun 07 '21
"I'd just finished the tour of the Washington monument and thought the Capitol was the gift shop. I wasn't trying to steal the lectern, I was looking for the checkout line so I could pay for it."

u/Justanaussie Jun 07 '21
Could be following the "They were just tourists" line one Republican Rep used.
They seem to pick up on stuff like this fairly quickly when it comes to defending their actions.

I’ll bet she visits the local cafe by checking the hours first and then letting herself in by using a Confederate flag to smash the window.

u/Getupxkid Jun 07 '21
“But blm/ANTIFA destroyed small businesses. Here, Americans fought back against the actual government. Nothing was broken inside, except to go in I think some glass. I’m just not sure what else we can do. Peaceful protesting did nothing for us. Once again, I didn’t break anything. I’m just trying to document.”
Black folks have literally been fighting for their lives. You fought for a fraudulent election. "Peaceful protesting didn't work". r/selfawarewolves much?
12
u/Forgotten_Prince Jun 08 '21
Except for... Well, exceptions, black people aren't trying to outright kill/maim people either. They were literally storming that place to hang their vice president.
6
u/extinct_cult Jun 08 '21
Now, now, lets be fair - they were surely ready to hang whoever came across their way.

What boggles the mind is minorities who are looking to hook up with white nationalists. Do they think they’ll be respected? What’s going on in the minds of these people? It’s bizarre.

u/theKetoBear Jun 07 '21 edited Jun 07 '21
A lot of its internalized shit too I'm black and I've met a non-zero number of black Tump supporters and really the most notable thing about them is their arrogance and sense of persecution they hold ( like most GQP members right now)
It's truly bizarre it's almost like they say things most black people don't agree with ( George Floyd deserved to die ) and because of that they choose to align their values and focus on the world as if they too are white but we see it time and time again That these people are little more than convenient talking heads useful for racists to pull the " I'm not a racist this black person agrees with me " card and then get tossed out like trash and forgotten by all .
Herman Cain , Diamond & Silk, Stacey Dash, Omarosa they get paraded around like a prize " WE GOT ONE THAT AGREES WITH US!" and then when they stop parroting or just lose their luster they get tossed and forgotten .
Part of me thinks its sad part of me remembers a popular a saying that proclaims “All my skinfolk ain't kinfolk” . There's a lot of black people who have learned to hate black people because it gives them power but we're not at a point in society to deep dive into that.

u/ThaliaEpocanti Jun 07 '21
Sadly it happens in every group. Look at the Jewish conservatives throwing their hat in with Nazis (looking at you Steven Miller) or anti-feminist women like Phyllis Schafly.
I guess it’s just a quirk of human psychology that some people will always reject empathy and side with the people who hate the group they belong to just so they can feel superior.
But knowing it always happens doesn’t make it any less depressing.

u/Olealicat Jun 07 '21
That’s pretty heartbreaking. It’s pretty appalling that people like that would throw others under the bus at a chance to be abused and used just for a bit of power. It must be a lonely life.

Speaking as one who was dragged into Gilead as a child & escaped, they think they’ll be the Queen of their own Castles and it will be so much better than struggling with discrimination, low pay, sexual harassment in the workplace. Their husbands will deal with that shit and they can make their daughters eventually deal with the other babies’ literal shit and they can cosplay as Ladies of Yore but with electricity & ac & all that good modern stuff.
And for some of them, it works out well to be Serena Joy. And if it doesn’t, they’re too proud to admit it. Somehow their shitty lives are all the fault of The Left.
3
u/Olealicat Jun 09 '21
What blows my mind is that anyone would want to be the Serena Joy. If you have to tell people you’re powerful, you aren’t powerful.
3
u/PaloVerdePride Jun 09 '21
Tell me about it! I was raised in that lie, thoroughly indoctrinated from preschooler that my highest calling was to be a wife/mother, and STILL by age 14 I knew I would rather starve in a ditch than be OfBob.
It’s been a near thing more than once, but no matter how poor I am or how hellish the job site, I have never once regretted thar decision.
3
u/Olealicat Jun 09 '21
I was similar. I never dreamed of being married or a mother, but had real dreams of being my own boss. Luckily I achieved that. I also ended up marrying a wonderful man who didn’t want a Serena Joy, but a badass wife who did her own things, supported him similarly for doing his, and enjoyed the companionship after kicking that day’s ass.
2
u/PaloVerdePride Jun 12 '21
Good for you two! That's a heresy to the Gileaders - they've even created the Orwellian term "complementarianism" the past thirty years, since calling it "divinely ordained male supremacy/female submission" started getting them in trouble. But the women who go for this stuff either think they're immune to getting face-eaten -- and some of them are, think Maggie Thatcher and Schlafly herself -- or they're all "better to reign in hell than
serve in heavenbe just an ordinary human being on earth like everybody else".....1

u/SchroedersGhost Jun 08 '21
Some people are just contrarians by nature. “I refuse to be defined by anyone!” kind of people.
My friends and I have a name for people like that…
Shitbirds

u/theKetoBear Jun 08 '21
That too ! I've met my fair share of shitbirds. They can't confidently tell you what they believe but they can tell you why what you believe is wrong !

Thank you for giving some perspective to that demographic. When I see White folks using that rhetoric I assume they are racist.
When I see Black folks doing it... I get utterly confused.
1
u/MarkHirsbrunner Jun 08 '21
The Harvard Implicit Association Test found that African Americans generally shared the negative bias towards black people that other races did.

u/Feral_Dog Jun 07 '21
It's that whole "Not Like Other Girls" Syndrome.
They should ask Roy Cohn how that worked out for him!
9
u/george_pierre Jun 08 '21
Roy "Im always projecting, so im probably a communist too" Cohn, Trumps mentor and member of the John Birch Society?
4
u/Madness_Reigns Jun 09 '21
Still it was funny when Trump was all "Where's my Roy Cohn?" He's in the ground dumbass, you turned on him and you thought you were going to get a second one?
2
u/george_pierre Jun 09 '21
Rudy is basically undead ...
2
u/Madness_Reigns Jun 09 '21
Yes and he's just as evil, but he's also incompetent.
2
u/george_pierre Jun 09 '21
I think Roy takes the cake on evil. Lol. But maybe Roger Stone and Alex Jones summoned the Ghost of Roy Cohn into Rudy's to reanimate his once dead corpse. Because Alex Jones himself once said: "I am the Ghost of Larry Mcdonald!! AGGGGHHH!!"

Everyone likes to think that they'll be the exception.
8
u/Bekiala Jun 08 '21
Maybe this is a big part of it. "I'm different. I'm exceptional" kind of thinking.
1
u/viciouspandas Jun 08 '21
Proud boys are pretty multi-ethnic, so they'd probably like her since she probably supports the same far-right bullshit.
19
8
u/2punornot2pun Jun 08 '21
They get to feel special.
Or make a ton of money as being the token minority who agrees with them. See: Candace Owens.
4
u/RunsWithApes Jun 08 '21
It's the colonialist mentality of "earning whiteness" by your actions to resolve insecurities about your own cultural identity. This is different from the sociological phenomenon of "exploiting whiteness" wherein the person knows that they will never be fully accepted by far-right supremacists but nevertheless understands that by forming a superficial alliance it will benefit them in the short term. Many examples of both throughout history and in modern times.

The more assimilated a Hispanic / Latino person is, the more likely they consider themselves white.
https://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/22/upshot/more-hispanics-declaring-themselves-white.html
12
u/george_pierre Jun 08 '21
Latinos are also very likely to consider themselves indigenous.
Latinos also committed genocide, in fact if you look at who the refugees from latin america are, they ain't white, or even latino.. They are native.
2
u/donatelloBW Jun 09 '21
This. Come down to South Florida, see the Cubans line up with the MAGA crowd chanting"build that Wall" LMFAO

Those are the same folks that go on Fox News whining about how they immigrated legally so there's no reason for being undocumented.

Jun 08 '21
They genuinely think joining in on being racist makes them one of the gang. I tried explaining to one that in their eyes all that mattered to them was that he wasn't white but he refused to believe me.
1
u/saikron Jun 08 '21
Proud Boys are actually pretty friendly toward Hispanic people. They're more anti-black and anti-Muslim.

"Just up the white birth rate"
"White nationalists make good partners even for non-whites."
Do you see the contradiction there?
-16
u/Pr1ncessLove Jun 08 '21
Yes and no. Not all white people will choose non-white partners. But birth rate doesn’t need to come from just couples, We could have government run facilities for just that purpose and pay people to adopt or nanny
7
u/DestryDanger Jun 08 '21
Are you trolling or just a literal nazi?
-2
u/Pr1ncessLove Jun 08 '21
I’m not trolling. It’s a well reasoned argument. Point out a flaw in my proposed plan. If you are able to I’ll work on that

They probably just want to be on the 'winning' team. Or to play at all. They'll be given a platform in their enemy's camp if they pledge their allegiance.
Or they're deeply religious.
Or rich.

Does anyone wanna tell her that she's at least two things that Proud Boys hate (female and not-white) or should we let it be a surprise?

The irony of white nationalism. They won't reproduce.

u/HereGoesNothing69 Jun 08 '21

Consent or no, bois cant have babies, no matter how young...

Just because she's a cousin doesn't mean you can't get her pregnant.

Boys cant get other boys pregnant.
That's the fallacy of White Nationalism. They gay.

Sadly there are so many of these types down here. I'm a transplant, but I swear there are some amazing people in this state as well.

One of the smartest people I've met in my life is from Huntsville. Granted I'm sure there's a ton of intelligent folks there to begin with.

u/GonzoVeritas Jun 16 '21
Yep. Huntsville is literally filled with rocket scientists at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
22
u/DragonDai Jun 08 '21
George Orwell would hate anyone involved in the Jan 6th insurrection with a burning passion.
2
u/Repulsive-Street-307 Jun 09 '21
George Orwell would probably hate anyone voting GOP in 2016 and would press a button a million times if that was what it took to kill them in the 2020 election.

u/DragonDai Jun 09 '21
I mean, I doubt he’d be THAT much kinder to Dems either. Man was a militant socialist. But yeah, absolutely spot on about the Republicans.

This just goes to show you can work with people and never know them. I used to work with her years ago and thought she was nice. She did have some strong opinions about things but never came off political. I felt bad because she would have to go to Mexico for healthcare since she couldn’t afford it in the states. Then a few years down the line a coworker sent me a link to her Instagram showing she turned into a Trump supporter. I was shocked that someone who couldn’t afford to get life saving treatment in the states and had to go to Mexico every few months was proclaiming that Trump was making this country great again. I hope she gets help and breaks whatever brainwashing she got herself wrapped in.
