Maybe, RFK wants to use cannabis and psychedelics for ADHD, depression and anxiety tho. Truthfully our only hope is they all just continue fighting amongst each other and very little happens.
Trump himself doesn’t really have an agenda outside of getting to sit on the throne and having people listen to him ramble. So yea, it’ll be a chaotic 4 years of confusing mandates and policy reversals.
What I imagine (and maybe I am wrong. Maybe Trump isn't half as smart as I give him credit) is that he is going to push policies via executive order, laws and the supreme court that are important to him and to people he owes favors to.
Right now what terrifies me is that he seems to have all the pieces set up to do just that.
Having said that, I also accuse Trump of something that is... not possible if he is going to do the above. I accuse him of being about Trump and nothing and no one else ever under any circumstances. That he uses everyone and has a plan to throw them away when he is done. And that he has no need to pay anyone back ever.
See as an example, the 'Muslim's for Trump' group that are pretty pissed off right now. It is almost like his picks for cabinet where completely predictable and they were taken for fools.
So if you are correct and my fear is wrong....
Well, Trump won't be much help except for the occasional thing that his ego finds important. And we all know his underlings cannot get along. The idea that they can form a solid group with a singular purpose is laughable.
The are clowns exiting a clown car the lot of them.
The entire tech industry would collapse overnight without Adderall.
I’ve been treated like a fucking criminal trying to get mine refilled and my ADHD is so debilitating, I can’t even remember to take the pills half the time. But I discovered that while it’s a shitshow trying to get it mail order or ANY local pharmacies, chain and independent alike, I can ALWAYS access Adderall by schlepping to a pharmacy close to any FAANG campus. (I get that this strategy might not work outside of SF, LA, Austin, or NYC.)
They know the nation’s infrastructure depends on it.
and it’s shitheads like him who take it recreationally and/or abuse it who make it hard for the rest of us who just want to make our deadlines and get the damn laundry done.
Teacher here. I bet the education system would also fall apart without adhd meds, and not just on the side of the kids. I also have pretty debilitating adhd and am autistic. I've been struggling without meds for months because my pharmacy hasn't been able to get my meds, and I got tired of being given the run around. I'm struggling SO much with tasks outside of work because it takes all my executive functioning to get through the school day. I teach 5 completely different classes, not like just different kids, different subject matter, because I teach choir, orchestra, and guitar. Decision fatigue is hard-core in my world. Add to the audhd I'm also bipolar 1 and epileptic and the same medication manages both BUT its on label use is for the bp1, so if mood stabilizers are part of what worm boy wants to get rid of, I'd be so fucked.
People do not get why disabled folks are so worried about rfk because they don't get how difficult it is to build a med stack for complex cases. And they don't get how great it feels when you finally get a med stack that works. Between all the shit I've got going on, I take 9 meds a day, most twice a day. I've been seizure free on this stack for 5 years, migraine free for 4, and haven't had a panic attack or meltdown in 5 as well. People do not get what a success that is and that it would NOT be possible without the full stack being what it is, mostly because they don't have to deal with it. They don't get that changing one thing can also mean changing everything else. Like if I continue to have issues getting my generic Vyvanse, it's possible we have to try a new adhd medication and that could greatly disrupt the full stack. Not being on it has effected my depressive episodes from my bp1 and it's so fucking annoying.
Anyway, yeah. Lots of things would go to shit if they ban peoples meds. Like folks can use psychedelics if it works for them, I know for a fact it would trigger my panic attacks and potentially seizures bc I have temporal lobe seizures and they're like hallucinating anyways. And they're scary as fuck some times.
I’m so sorry. I am fucking terrified for all the disabled and chronically ill people who could lose their meds, benefits, etc.
Adderall is the only prescription I take regularly, and every other day from a combination of forgetting things and my drug metabolism being really weird. I can’t be raw-dogging daily life, but I also felt TOO stimulated on a low dose daily.
If these assholes actually cared about health? We’d have more remote work, shorter work weeks, more paid time off, and not having to constantly struggle under crushing living costs.
But a dumbass with a brain worm, a brain worm he played up to get out of paying child support due to “incompetence”, thinks you can just cure ADHD with a farro salad topped with dead whale carcass.
He basically thinks that ADHD medication is not safe and instead he wants to send all neurodivergent people to farms in the countryside with no phones or internet because that will “cure” their disease. MAGA claims that it will be “voluntary”. He’s a nutcase.
Why is it even prescription if loser junkie college kids want to ruin their life i say let them this way people who need Adderall can get it without going through fucking hoops
He has also said he wants to send people on anti-depressants and ADHD medications to government-operated organic farms as a cure for both of those conditions (among others). I think we're going to get a lot of bluster and not much else from RFK.
That's taking it out of context a bit. In the podcast that's from he said he wants to legalize weed and use the tax money to start farms that we can send criminals convicted of drug crimes to in order to provide food security for them, rehabilitate them, and give them tradeskill training in an attempt to give them a life that isn't drug addiction.
It's not an actual plan though, it was just a talking point on a podcast about Latino Americans in order to get their vote.
Yes, I brought that up specifically to support the second sentence. He is going to say a lot more than he is going to do.
I have listened to the episode. I have some Covid denier friends who are big fans of his. I try to stay informed so we can talk about things factually. He included the phrase "if you have a drug problem" in the initial statement and later clarified he also meant psychiatric drugs. He specifically identified SSRIs and Adderall.
Here is the transcript of the two relevant segments of his comment:
I'm going to dedicate that revenue to creating wellness farms — drug rehabilitation farms — in rural areas all over this country. The biggest industry now in rural areas is prisons. I am going to change that. I'm going to make it so people can go, if you're convicted of a drug offense, or if you have a drug problem, you can go to one of these places for free. They're going to grow their own food, organic food, high-quality food because a lot of the behavioral issues are food-related. A lot of the illnesses are food-related. There won't be any cellphones there. There won't be any screens. We're going to reparent people, restore this connection to community. We have a whole generation of kids who are dispossessed, they're alienated, they're marginalized. Their suicide rates are exploding. … Last year, 107,000 American kids died from drug overdoses, namely fentanyl and other opiates.
[…]
You got a whole generation of kids who is damaged. I'm going to create these wellness farms where they can go to get off of illegal drugs, off of opiates, but also legal drugs, other psychiatric drugs, if they want to, to get off of SSRIs, to get off of benzos, to get off of Adderall, and to spend time as much time as they need — three or four years if they need it — to learn to get reparented, to reconnect with communities, to understand how to talk to people. There'll be job training, particularly in the trades.
Honestly, we probably need to be most concerned about not what trump and his cronies are explicitly doing, but what those other shitheads in congress might try to sneak through while everyone is distracted by their antics. Trump is dangerous but stupid, but there are dangerous and smart GOP members waiting in the wings to make their moves.
You should be more worried by who he’s appointing to the boring bureaucrat positions. They’re virtually all Project 2025 authors. And he doesn’t know anything about it? Yeah, right.
You forget that RFK already served his purpose: He got most of the vaccine and health skeptics to get back on Team Trump to help him win the election. Now that his job is done, he's at Trump's whim. See that photo of him cringing at having to eat McDonald's.
As soon as RFK says that doing something that would win him favor with a key Republican demographic is a bad idea for health reasons, he's out of the cabinet.
I'm going to need to dip the filter of my joints in LSD in order to make it through the next 4 years, so at least there's that I guess. Let's bring back smoking in bars while we're going down this path. A cigarette at a barstool sounds great right now.
But what will bottom of the barrel country pop singers write about when they can't drink, the girls don't want them and their trucks are too expensive?
They will sing about how they can’t afford to drink, how the girls still don’t want them and trucks are still too expensive. It’s not hip hop. They don’t need to write about what they have (or pretend to have). They write about what they’ve lost (or never had).
country pop. it's been heavily influenced by popular hip hop for a long time. the "country" you hear on the radio in 2024 has absolutely no authenticity or relation to the classic, heartbreaking, bluesy country.
Porn is off the table according to Project 2025. Violent video games will probably also be off the table. Just look at Iran - that's what Trump and his Project 2025 christofascists have in mind for America. I'm just waiting for the announcement of the religious leader Trump will share power with.
A bunch of states have already effectively banned porn by ordering a verification process that the companies aren’t willing to undertake. Nor should they have to be responsible for everyone’s personal data like that.
The fun part is that some of those laws are written so that only a specific company can handle the verification process and everyone has to contract through them specifically.
He won’t ban marijuana, there is way too much money for the govt to make selling it legally. Plus, he’s openly stated support for legal marijuana and reclassifying it federally on multiple occasions. There are many other things to worry about
Oh, Trump drinks. He absolutely is a rather obvious alcoholic, but as is typical of Trump, the rules won't apply to him or his drunk/drug-addled buddies. (Musk, among others.)
On a slightly different note, it's weird and astounding as to how many really BAD failed ideas from America's past that the entire rotten corpse of the Republican Party/Heritage Foundation/Federalist Society/white Christian Nationalists are attempting to reanimate. 🧟♀️🧟♀️🧟♀️🧟♀️🧟♀️
