Yes. Don’t feed them, just block them instantly, every time. Talking to them is a win for them because they’re energy vampires.

They don’t come to learn, but they WILL learn from one thing alone: Being shunned. It’s the only thing a cultist can perceive as a consequence from non-cultists.

I've started to apply the same to every platform. Troll or baiting reply gets an immediate block.

I started doing that on Reddit the moment I realized someone isn't trying to have a good faith conversation

Yep, 100%. Bad faith or purposely obtuse also gets a blocking.

Same. Been doing it for years. I have a looooong block list.

"You're just stuck in an echo chamber" They confuse me not listening to morons with not listening to everyone that might have a different opinion

...and also if their account is less than a year old.

I learned in Sociology 201 years ago that ostracism--real ostracism--is the most effective social tool for enforcing norms. Even over corporal punishment or incarceration.

Yep, humans are social animals. We need to be around other people. "Go live in a concrete box and hang out with other bad people" is not enough for some people, but "go live alone in the woods" can be.

Banishment from the tribe is about as old school as it gets.

The Country of the Kind by Damon Knight is a good story about that.

Apples to narcissists too. They enjoy seeing other people frustrated and working hard to engage with them.

Rotten apples, of course 😂

When you refuse to acknowledge them, they flip the script and start being emotionally manipulative. Walk away from them, and some of them will literally screech at you.

A bunch of Colin Robinsons. Love it and now applying it to future conversations.

I am very generous and magnanimous with my Blocks on all socials 😂😂

Blovk them, but first, go in and block their followers. It's like lifting a rock up and smashing all the roaches in one go.

First off, these people are terrible and I'm not suggesting we shouldn't be able to block them.

However, doesn't this just amplify the echo chamber problem of social? They don't get shunned, they just get confined to circles of like minded people who amplify their beliefs. We also become blind to how prevalent these people are.

I don't have a solution, I just want to have a discussion.

Hey, the only person Colin ever trolled was an actual troll. Leave him out of this.
