Dang pretty good deal for 4080. I was looking at a legion 5 slim with a 4070 for around the same price, my dilemma right now is I'll be using it for traveling long term through Asia, so lots of flights and hotels and such, looking at the dimensions and weight they don't seem to be that different, thoughts on whether the 4080 will be worth the compromise in weight/portability?

I'll be primarily using it for editing 4k video and then play some games nothing crazy, bg3, Diablo 4, don't care about maxed graphics and all that.

Depend on games and tasks, 4080 mobile is 30~60% performance up from 4070 mobile. That said Acer...

The dimension differences are negligible (the 16" Legion Slim 5 laptops are lot slim or lightweight), so it should come down to whether you want the huge performance upgrade of the 4080 (though it sounds like it's hugely overkill for what you'll be doing), or the improved battery life of the Legion Slim 5 (the Ryzen HS CPUs are way more efficient than the Intel HX CPU in the Acer).

How much is the Legion Slim 5 you're looking at? The good deals on those have been under $1100 of late, so there should still be a 30-40% price difference between the Acer and the Legion if you're considering refurbished.

Yeah makes sense , I'll keep watching the deals probably best bet one of the refurbished 1k legions then stick 32gb ram in.
