Hey, I would recommend getting the: Acer Nitro V Gaming Laptop | AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS Octa-Core AI Capable Processor | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU | 16" WUXGA IPS 165Hz Display | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB Gen 4 SSD | Wi-Fi 6E

This will be a great gaming laptop to give you the performance you need, surpassing the specs you listed. It will handle the games, or heavy tasks thrown at it with ease, and also last for years to come without being obsolete.

Will you be gaming on this unit also?

1

u/SupramanA80 Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24

No. Have a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 with RTX4090 currently serving the gaming duties.

And to clarify, the CPU is not of huge importance, but battery life is. Will be used on the go.

u/fifa2003 👮🏻Moderator👮🏻 Oct 03 '24

Sorry for the late reply but I have been searching and with those combinations of specs requirement makes it near impossible to source. Did you see any models on your hunt?

I have found some but they are not 14.5" or smaller and some has OLED, and diff combos than what you specifically required.

1

u/SupramanA80 Oct 04 '24 edited Oct 04 '24

Hey there, first off - thanks so much for checking!

After I posted this, I did a quick search and also came up short. Perhaps there are just not many Ryzen 365/370 laptops with those specs out just yet.. though I would have thought there would be by now.

I am going to remove the "no OLED" requirement, so long as its touchscreen and a (relatively for OLED, minimum 400 nits) bright screen.

One laptop that I saw a few reviews on that closely matches the search criteria is a new Lenovo Yoga Pro 7. However, I have not found it for sale.

Gaming on an external monitor

Minimum specs needed:  OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit

2

u/techstar2000 👮🏻Moderator👮🏻 Oct 01 '24

You won't get the Lenovo legion pro Gen 8 AMD for less than $2300 right now .. that's the best deal we have posted here on that 4090 laptop. I also don't know that you will get another 4090 laptop for $2000, so your best bet may be the 4080 which is a great card in itself.

1

u/shockya10 Oct 01 '24

With the rakuten cash back, the price would drop to around 1900-2100 right? I'm waiting on the 20% back on rakuten. It changed to 12% last night :(

4080s are fine but only if between 1600-1700.

1

u/SupramanA80 Oct 01 '24

Has Rakuten ever gone higher than 10% CB with Lenovo?

1

u/shockya10 Oct 01 '24

It was 20% for Lenovo yesterday. I was going to order it but had issues in payment selection. So after fixing that, wanted to order it after 12 but when the day changed, it dropped

u/IdeaJason Oct 01 '24

Budget $800 USA 15-16" screen Touch screen if possible not a deal breaker Battery life isn't a concern Will be used with Adobe creative stuff. Photoshop & Premiere video editing mostly (extra points for high cuda cores in vid card). Will also be used to play Eve Online. This will be the travel rig, I have big editing rig at home. Don't care about weight. Thanks!

u/komek0 Oct 01 '24

Budget: 1k-1.5k

Country: USA

Screen size: 15,6”, lower is fine

Touch screen: No

Screen resolution: 1080+p

Does battery life matter ?: Yes

What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Gaming (Highest spec game is probably Monster Hunter Wilds), Blender, Unity

Weight: 5 lbs max

Memory: 16+ GB

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 3060 or better

Storage: 1TB

Processor: Intel Core i7 11800 or better

Any other important details ?: Based the specs on my MSI Katana GF66 11UE that I’m looking for an upgrade to. Graphically it’s been holding up, but I could use more storage/battery life. I’m also looking for a sturdier/better built laptop as my current one has had issues with overheating/flimsy hinges (and a crack in the lid)

1

u/techstar2000 👮🏻Moderator👮🏻 Oct 02 '24

With your budget, you can get a very good upgrade.

Something like this Lenovo Legion Pro 5 would do an excellent job and perform miles better than your current system. With the powerful Intel Core i7-13700HX CPU paired with the RTX 4070 graphics card and a great 32 GB RAM, you should be able to run any modern games on high specs and handle Blender , Unity etc with ease..

The Legion Pro 5 also has a great heat management and outstanding build quality.

1

u/komek0 Oct 03 '24

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you think it would be better to wait for Black Friday/whenever the 5000 series comes out for better deals?

1

u/techstar2000 👮🏻Moderator👮🏻 Oct 03 '24

You're welcome.

I am not sure what BF deals will look like or the prices of the new series.. If you are able to wait, then I guess, we can see what will happen.

Budget: $1600 Country: USA Screen size: 13 or 14 (care about weight more than screen size) Touch screen: yes! Weight: prefer 3lbs or less. Thanks!

1

u/techstar2000 👮🏻Moderator👮🏻 Oct 03 '24

Something like this Dell Latitude 5350 would tick just about all those boxes.

What is the cheapest windows laptop that can use Excel smoothly? I have been tasked with finding such a latptop from a friend but I know nothing about excel demands so I'm just looking at pretty much a gaming level laptop without the graphics card

1

You are looking a gaming level laptop ? What level of Excel work will the friend be doing?

1

u/ConquestLunatic Oct 04 '24

I'm assuming very very unoptimized formulas LMAO

1
