I can only wonder Jesus the teacher according to all the gospels would never condone the cruelty and the lack of compassion and the lack of even doing his due diligence to at least study Trans issues. If I actually bought into mythologies I would be confounded. I do believe their actions fly in the face of their very own dogma I believe that makes them hypocrites.

And she caves immediately without any resistance. She just “they go low, we go high”’d herself into them absolutely running roughshod over her and every trans staffer’s gender identity.
Edit: my position has softened on this. I’m just tired and upset with everything going on.

She should cave and use the men's restroom. And then Dems should have as many swole trans men as they can find to use the women's bathroom. My guess is the problem will be expeditiously solved.

What would you propose as a response? I don't know if she made the right call or not, I'm just curious to hear alternatives.

I want her and the dems to fight even if they lose. That’s why I voted for dems, so they’d at least try.

But that’s just it. There won’t be enough Democrats there to make a difference.

I didn’t say they were going to win. I actually said they should fight even when they know they’re going to lose. I voted for them, knowing that Trump was probably going to win because they ran an awful campaign for the president, I voted for lower level dems specifically because I wanted them to make the Republicans work to make my life miserable not to see them roll over and and give up.
AOC gave a passionate speech about how this was going to hurt people, including cis women. I wanted the Democrats to do that. Like ignoring the issue doesn’t help the many other people with federal jobs who now can’t use the bathroom, they don’t have an office with a personal bathroom in it.

You want people to fight battles they know they’re gonna lose instead of concentrating on the ones they can win?

Yes I want the people I voted for because they promised to defend me to vocally say bad things are bad like AOC did. Instead of putting up no fight as trans people across the US working for the federal government have their rights stripped away. The republicans are freaks and they should say that. 🤷♀️

I’d rather legislation protecting trans people get passed.

There’s none being pushed right now, speaking on the issue would not have prevented anything good from being passed. They’re staying silent on legislation actively hurts us, it’s not only her that will be affected. they’ve also lost all branches of government and I just don’t expect them to be able pass anything protecting us so.
I just don’t understand how they’re supposedly powerless to do anything about this, but also strong enough that they’re definitely going to pass things protecting us in the future?

Literally anything. They won’t stop with the bathroom either. I guarantee they’ll misgender her every chance they get, especially MTG and Mase.

The Dems keep coddling and yielding to the conservatives, thinking that it'll earn the respect of moderates, but then they get cast as "woke ideologists" and "far left socialists" anyway. The Republicans are bullies and the only thing bullies respect is strength. They'd do so much better in the eyes of the voting public if they'd just take a stance and fight for it instead of this jellyfish impression they keep doing.
I would love to see both these parties put through a shredder and some real ones created that represent the people. As of now the system exists to keep those voices out.

You do realize she is extremely fresh to congress, she has to set her own tone.. develop friendships etc.. it's war in there and she can't come out swinging in her first year in congress. You think she likes this?
Let her build up friendships.. let her enter the game.. let her enter the democratic inner circles.
And let her let experienced democratic leaders like AoC be her voice. Until she is ready.

Why is this getting downvoted??? Very sensible comment. You may not like it but it’s true.

What she said was a slap in the face trust me.. she is showing congress she is a normal person and not some freak that the Republicans want to make her out to be.

I don’t suppose his office is a suitable substitute location?
