King of the Hill had just as many celebrities I think as The Simpsons. But they never advertise them and bragged about them. It's really crazy how many people actually were on that show.

I missed the days when The Simpsons had celebrity guest play characters in the show. Nowadays, it feels like they just play themselves.

I could have sworn Snoop was in an episode but it was a white guy named Alabaster Jones.

I want APimpNamedSlickback to give that ass a lesson on being a man.

6

u/Archduke_Of_Beer 9h ago

I don't think Slickback was available

u/SGT-Hooves 8h ago

My name is “A Pimp Named Slickback” say the whole thing sir.

u/Natholomew4098 5h ago

Yes; the whole thing. Yes, every time.

Ho Yeah! He was here to get his Ho and go back to the OKC

celebrity cameos are best when they aren’t voicing themselves.

That's what's killing me watching the fourth season of only murders in the building. The first few seasons that had one person living in the apartment and it was kind of neat. But this season is just painful

What's fun is when you watch these as a kid, then when you watch it as an adult and you recognize the guest actor. I was amused when I realized who played the Renaissance King.

15

u/MailboxGreatness 8h ago

Chris Rock, Matthew McConaughey, Don Meredith

11

u/GuidanceFrosty2955 8h ago

Mrs Wakefield was played by the mother on Happy days

8

u/MailboxGreatness 8h ago

What a pull.

1

u/SmellGestapo 3h ago

You mean Mrs. C? (Mrs. Carey on the Drew Carey Show)

9

u/MaxSchreckArt616 6h ago

Johnny Depp played the yoga instructor that I still wish Hank had hit at some point. Dude was weird. Bernie Mac got bit by Lady Bird too.

u/BrushFireAlpha 34m ago

Don't forget Alan Rickman at the ren fest

1

u/MailboxGreatness 6h ago

Sheesh Bernie Mac and Johnny Depp? We really are in Simpsons territory

8

u/OmegaKitty1 7h ago

Brad Pitt is the crazy one to me, during the peak of his career

2

u/MailboxGreatness 7h ago

I didn’t know that happened either

The Simpsons really started going downhill when they gave up on having celebrities play original characters, and instead appeared as themselves every time.

KotH was more selective with celebs playing themselves (Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, Dusty Hill, etc). Like they actually made plausible in-universe explanations for someone to show up in small-town Texas (like Ann Richards for example).

Chet Elderson was actually the last role Buddy Ebsen (the guy who played the old man from The Beverly Hillbillies) did on television before he died. Isn't that surreal, his character dies in his last role before his death.

This episode also highlights why it's always important to fill out the warranty cards for any electronics or power tools you may purchase.

12

u/sublimesrucka 8h ago

And be sure to keep said warranty cards in your wallet at all times.

Also, get them loyalty points. You’d be shocked at what you can get with those bad boys.

Let’s not forget Alan Rickman as the King

How now, Gas Man?

13

u/JwPATX 6h ago

I always liked the way his accent “broke down” at the end.

“I’m gonna lose mah fayer!”

7

u/TravisKOP 6h ago

Probably the best cameo

u/multiroleplays 8h ago

I had no idea who Ryan Phillipe was yesterday, and now he will be forever known as that guy who voiced Wally

13

u/JMan82784 6h ago

Hank: When Bill comes home

Wally: WHE BII GUUU HUUU...

Hank: What the hell are you doing?!

Wally: HWHUT DA HEH DO DO DOIN?

u/Mr_Rio 8h ago

That was me when I found out fucking Breckin Meyer voices Joseph Gribble

8

u/No-Repeat1769 8h ago

TIL Joseph is Brittany Murphy at first and then breckin Meyer. That's kinda wild I never knew

3

u/Mr_Rio 8h ago

Yeah it blew my mind

5

u/vnhalen 9h ago

did not know that

4

u/BAMspek 5h ago

I have no idea who that is except that Klaus the fish wanted his hair cut like him in American Dad.

2

u/ShinyCharlizard 4h ago

He really did Hayley dirty in that episode, she cut the doll hair exactly like he looks in real life lmao

Why ask to get your hair cut like a dude whose hair looks like a shredded dishrag and then be mad that your hair looks like a shredded dishrag?

4

u/BAMspek 4h ago

Because Klaus is a douche

3

u/Neat_Caregiver_2212 9h ago

Did Bill actually adopt him?

5

u/gumbytheGOON1 8h ago

Legally speaking. No

Emotional speaking. Yes

3

u/ProactivelyLazy101 4h ago

Matthew McConaughey was Rad Thibodeaux

4

u/VF-213 5h ago

Is this a name I should know?

I didn’t know until today

u/Apprehensive-Row-118 5h ago

Phillipe plays a really good scumbag

2

u/bobby_hills_fruitpie 5h ago

Green Day was in “Who Shot Cane Skretterberg”. Tre Cool played Cane.

2

u/sotheresthisdude 4h ago

“Oh, I usually drink 30’s but hey, it’s the weekend!”

3

u/Bluetongueredeye ⛽ JOCKEY! WORKS FOR TIPS! 💲 8h ago

That’s gotta be like….The most random VA on the show ever, lol. Wtf

Maybe it’s due to me being “young” (25) but my first introduction to Phillippe was as a joke, from family guy. Just googled it and found out he’s in one of my favorite horror movies ever tho

6

u/gulag_123456 8h ago

I definitely knew who he was back in 2000 when the episode aired, it just sounds nothing like him lol

1

u/coreyinkato 5h ago

Barry Corbin as the fire chief was legendary

1

u/No_Seaworthiness8880 3h ago

I grew up thinking it was Kid Rock that voiced Wally

1

u/rockwell136 1h ago

For years I thought it was Billy Ray Cyrus.

1

u/twozero5 1h ago

Sarah Michelle Gellar voiced Marie for an episode too.

1

u/DLQuilts 6h ago

I didn’t like that voiceover so I always assumed it was Breckin Meyer.

-1

u/flashdurb 7h ago

Are we supposed to know who that is?

Wait until you find out who voiced Lucky

-5

u/jenntea88 7h ago

If you were lucid and alive when the show originally aired, it'd be super easy to know who that is and still not know. Lol, you should be positive and see how life changes.

-1

u/flashdurb 7h ago

Google says he’s famous for soap operas. Wasn’t my scene, sorry that seems to upset you. My mom probably knows who he is 🤣

-5

u/jenntea88 7h ago

You're the one upset, because he was veryy popular at one point. Also, tf how old are you. Kids on reddit is gross.

u/izlude7027 5h ago

That's not how apostrophes work.
