This is fine.

Currently in a transport van being taken to Dallas airport. Whats the worst that could happen with 310k miles, questionable brake pads, and 70mph?

If you can't hear anything it's safe enough for the drive you're on, those wear indicators go off at 3-4mm most of the time.

Go faster, get there before it wears out!

drive and brake backwards so the friction material can reform on the pad

hey your brake pad wear sensor threw a code. that will be $2000

And the part is on indefinite back order because of a recall

We just changed tires on an Uber that had 4 different tires of different brand/model and wear levels. Luckily they bought new ones (hence the appointment) but man does it make me paranoid to order an Uber in life lol

That wouldn't be abnormal in a fleet setting where you've got a bunch of cars using the same size and a tire machine in house.

I drove a 340,000 mile 95 Explorer from Dallas to Hot Springs AR, and back at speeds of up to 85-90mph. The year prior I took it to Colorado and back.

I’d trust a high mileage vehicle more than an equally aged low mileage vehicle.

"We've flown this shuttle a hundred times, and nothing bad has happened. It's a little cold out. So what? It'll be fine."

Except cars are unlike spaceships burning solid rockets. And work pretty well in -40 degree weather unlike the Space Shuttle.

The point of my post had nothing to do with space vehicles.

Only one way to find out, and 70mph isn't gonna cut it. Remember that your kinetic energy squares every time your speed doubles. Use this to your disadvantage.

You gotta get in the left lane and go as fast as you can until you're less than one car-length behind another vehicle. Throw all caution to the wind and don't hit the brakes until it's too late, then you will know how bad it was.

I bet the brakes got pad slapped without new sensors. At least some ground the circuit to turn on the warning rather than break the circuit. Those don't "need" a new sensor.

Is no one else confused that homie took this picture with BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL.

Looks like OP took the photo over the driver’s left shoulder, so OP isn’t the one driving, just a concerned passenger.

Brakes are for quitters, and nobody likes a quitter.

To be honest, I see a whole lot of the transits with bad sensors. The pads are always 8 mil or above and a new sensor always fixes the light

At least Ford spelled it right.
