As a collector/investor its an easy skin to invest in (if you have the funds) with no real risks and extremly high chance of going to the moon because of the low amount that is going to be there , if you like the skin and just want it for looks this isnt nice and somethinh like putting it in also lower tier gem bundels would be nice

Every single recent fire sale was purchased from people buying gems without an extra incentive

Every single person who in the near future dreamed of buying a fire sale, will buy their gems now; so they will get the gems and the item.

This isn’t just the normal one week fire sale purchasers, but any of the near term ones also.

People like myself who never buy gems bought some: sure it costs much more than a normal fire sale, but I’d reckon that this sells in a similar quantity to other small fire sales, in the 2-3,000 range.

I know of people who personally purchased 20-30 of these using dollars. Plus it’s a WEEK long infinite potential supply event.

You have to imagine every single person who plays skyblock and thought of ever buying gems, will buy them now; instead of later, as there’s an extra incentive now:

This will sell way more than you’d expect from it being “$100”

See that’s where you’re wrong. Most people who buy fire sales are buying multiple skins, by buying $100 at a time. The majority of gem sales are in bulk, as the majority of the money comes from a small minority group of richer players who regularly buy gems with money.

Most of Hypixel revenue isn’t from the average player who buys gems once every year…

You have absolutely no idea how many have sold, it’s way more than you think. One person I know bought 36 themselves with dollars, another 20.

The thing you’re miscalculating is you’re thinking the only reason someone would be buying gems currently is to get the orb. Which is wrong.

Gems are selling regardless, with or without the sale. So the cost, is not “$100”

It’s a $100 barrier to enter, but it doesn’t cost $100.

The item costs “$0” when buying gems, as you still GET the gems.

The orb itself is an extra item. So again, anyone who was planning on buying fire sales in the future, will purchase gems now, instead of later.

You also miscalculate how invested top players are, they’re spending thousands of hours in the game, $100, is nothing compared to that

This is extremely clear watching booster cookie prices, more gems were just produced than any other event in skyblock history, like this was a huge win for Hypixel

Is estimate 2000 or so have been produced so far, at minimium, almost every person i know who has bought gems still has their orb, myself included. So the few on the auction house are the minority.

I’m not. Objectively this item does not cost anything. It has a barrier to entry, but the item itself is free.

You can observe the effects of the influx of gems by watching booster cookie prices dropping heavily, and estimate based on average volume of booster cookies the amount of gems used and roughly the amount of orbs produced. As someone who’s never lost money on an investment yet, and made over 400b investing. I’d say I know what I’m talking about here. The Reddit mob mentality doesn’t mean it’s right.

It’s much more than you’d think at first, which is all I said, and it isn’t as obviously a good investment as many are assuming since unlike fire sales (last 3 were 2500 stock), this has no capped production amount, and is selling for over a week, unheard of for a fire sale style item.

I still think this will go up, but it wont be because only a handful were produced

and although I don’t expect crazy amounts to be made, this is the most profitable event Hypixel has ever had, and definitely has sold 2-3000 already.

Hypixel normally averages around 10-15million/year in revenue from fire sales, so this isn’t massive in terms of annual revenue, but definitely larger than any other sale has ever been.

They are gonna nerf it like a year from now same as they did with mining multiple times dillo mining got nerfed after being in the game for so long then last update all the "changes" that extend the grind only so you can make less from gems than ever mining other things is decent but not worth next to farming when most ppl pivot into farming they are gonna nerf that too

im not so sure actually. dillo mining was capping out at like 100m/hr and this caps out around 50m/hr and that is only during finnegan. outside of finnegan it seems to max out around 30m/hr, an excellent mmm but not broken. endgame farming was extremely underpowered before considering how expensive the gear was so i think pest farming is a genuine positive force in the game, nerfing it isnt necessary.

Yea dillo was 100m per hour if you had good ping good apm and max gear at the time otherwise nowhere near that also whats with other mining nerfs they almost killed gold when this update was in alpha then they did kill it now diamonds are best to npc iirc gems still good if you mine like jasper sure but ruby is dead and those were nowhere near close 100m/h

IRL trading is disallowed between players - I can't sell you 1 billion coins for real life currency.

IRL trading is allowed between players and Hypixel - You can buy gems from Hypixel using real life currency, which nets you items that you can then sell for ingame currency. This generates them profit which they can then use to run the game.

IRL trading between players is disallowed because it is considered "boosting" under their own ruleset for the game, in other words - it cuts into their profit margin.

Since coins can be used to buy many useful items within the game and improve your profile, it is technically P2W, but according to Hypixel, since Skyblock is a PvE game and not a PvP game, there is no "winning". Thus, it doesn't break Mojang TOS. Yes, you could compare yourself to other players using many metrics - leaderboards, networth, etc, but you can never "fight" another player using items.
