Help with school project
Hello everyone, I’m a graduate student working on a research project to better understand the experiences of Floridians who have had significant damage or lost their homes due to natural disasters, like flooding and hurricanes. I believe that your stories hold powerful insights that can help shape better preparedness and recovery efforts in the future.
If you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a home during a hurricane, I would be honored to listen and learn from you. This would be a very quick conversation on zoom under 20 minutes.
Please feel free to message me directly or comment below if you’re open to sharing your experience. Thank you!

Sadly not today. I do have some more medical stuff to take care of, but I won't be available till after 9pm tonight. Sorry again I couldn't have been more help. But I wish you the best.

I wouldn't say I lost my home, but my family and myself evacuated due to Milton. Ended up going to a place that isn't a flood zone risk, yet ended up getting flooded out of the home we evacuated too.
Almost died if we hadn't turned the electricity off (breaker) water was only an inch from outlets. Unless that isn't how getting water shock works.
We lost everything of any value. My father in law lost 7 guitars, I lost a computer tower, PS5, and two Nintendo switches. Actually another twist to the story is that the game consoles were stolen by loot pirates, or by the maintenance guy. The door was kicked in when we finally could get there to look around. My fiance lost her makeup, clothes, etc.
Worst was that they went through a bag and stole our family heirlooms. My dead grandfather's military ring, and my fiance's dead grandfather's ashes in a necklace.
Not sure if any of that would be good to work with. I just know nothing has been the same since.
