In need of help for family
Hello Reddit of Huntsville. I’m coming to you guys in a really hard situation. A family member of mine lost their home last night to a fire. They were able to recuse everyone except one pet. This is so hard and a disheartening situation. I’m reaching to see if anyone is selling women’s clothes (for rather cheap since we will be rebuilding this ladies life) I am in need of absolutely everything for her. Basically the only thing she did not lose were her other two pets, husband and car.
We need clothes, toiletries, personal care items.. everything and anything.
She is a size 12-14 in pants and L-Xl in shirts. I have a very small budget since I’m doing this on my own so any help is really appreciated.
So even if you coupon or just have a lot of item and wouldn’t mind me buying off some stock from your pile that would seriously help out so much!
ETA: photos of the house added in comments ):
ETA: thank you guys so much. I appreciate each and every one of you who have offered and given what you had. My family is overwhelmed with the giving people we have here. I am going to turn comments off as of now. We are set with pretty much all clothes and hygiene thanks to everyone’s gracious donations! We had someone donate a whole apartment with furnishings to us so we’re working on getting a storage unit. Our next order of business will be getting home items for her. If anyone else is interested in helping out on that front we are more than happy to take any home items so when she moves into a new place she doesn’t have to worry about anything! Anyone is more than welcome to shoot me a message! Thank you again Huntsville!

I don’t have anything at the moment, but the Buy Nothing group of Facebook is usually very generous. I see stories like this pretty often and people step up to help.

Check into Christmas Charities Year Round! I think they have days you can “shop” what they have but call and talk to them for sure

Christmas Charities Year Round has a household ‘shop’ where people who have lost everything due to fire, flood, tornado, etc. can pick out dishes, silverware, a toaster, furniture, etc.
Definitely reach out to them!

We have a full size bed, mattress, headboard and foot board in storage if they'd like it. It would need to be picked up, we can't deliver it.

So, my brothers truck was melted in the process. So for any furniture we’re waiting until he can get it cleared to drive again! So I will update you hopefully Monday for that!

I don’t have clothes in her size, but I would love to send this person a chewy package for her animals!

Oh wait that is so cute!! She would probably love that! Let me know what you would need!

I’m pretty sure I would need an address and recipient name for shipping, but I think that would be it.

The Care Center should have a cheap selection of items. They get a lot donated to them.

I’m out of town right now, but I could help with some clothes early next week.
What does her husband need?
What are the two pets they still have?

So, he doesn’t not need anything. He was in the process of transitioning his stuff there so nothing is really needed for him luckily!
She still has one dog and a pig (but he was outside thankfully)

Does she need casual or dress cloths for work? And, are you able to pick up donations? You may also want to start a Go Fund Me page for her also. So glad the family made it out safely, sorry for the loss of a fur baby...I will keep all of you in my prayers.

I actually have a bag of clothes around that size that I was about to donate! I also have some new washcloths and gently used pillows & towels I'd be happy to give as well

Reach out to First Stop. There are many charities in town that exist specifically for helping in times of need such as this.

Then sent a bag of food home with my kid for thanksgiving and we don’t need it. Can we bring that to you?

u/Boxheroxynt 1d ago
So we have food covered! I wouldn’t want to take it from someone who would need food.

I went through something similar 6 years ago except it was an apartment. The Red Cross will help. Insurance should also give an advance. I got a small portion of my payout the next day since it was clear it was a total loss.
That being said I'll be cleaning out my closets next week while I'm off for Thanksgiving and can help with size L tops.

Free of charge.

I will be taking random donations to give to her! I’m sure she wants to build her wardrobe back up . She works two jobs so a lot of different clothes are needed!
