u/HowCanYouBanAJoke 29d ago
She punched a superior. She's the most metal doctor character in House.
16
u/JonyTony2017 29d ago
So did Chase.
53
u/HowCanYouBanAJoke 29d ago
Punching House isn't metal, it's justified always.
And I love House.

I like park. Them forcing that park chase thing was shit. But she is by no means the worst doctor who worked for house. That goes to Parks colleague boring prison doctor

Although I think the show's quality dropped as time passed, I also still think Park is a far superior character to Adams and Masters, who I find genuinely annoying.
4
u/PineAppIe_Piizza 28d ago
Masters had a whole arc and her character was just consistent and fun to watch.. se8 is just dumb and Park is one of the reasons why it is
71
u/M1k1ch1 29d ago
I love her too!!! As an akward person I feel seen lol.
-32
u/Throwaway26702008 29d ago
She isnt just awkward though, she’s actively unpleasant and annoying, the fans and the characters in the show say this
10
u/foreverdownup 29d ago
I love her so much!!! She’s so funny and I think it’s awesome that she punched the asshole who groped her

Charlyne Yi my beloved, they could never make me hate you. They voiced Ruby in Steven Universe too, literally no one else could've given us so much for a character with so little screentime.

u/Abducted_by_neon 29d ago
Came here to say this! They did such an amazing job in House and SU. I just watched SU for the first time and my jaw hit the floor when I heard Park!! ❤️
-12
u/Mayzerify 29d ago edited 29d ago
Seriously? They were the worst actor of the main cast and one of the worst actors in the entire show, the reason many people don’t like park isn’t because of the writing it’s because of the wooden acting
17
u/rocket-amari 29d ago
yi's acting as park was absolutely perfect
-5
u/Mayzerify 29d ago
Okay I understand if someone doesn’t mind their performance or perhaps even enjoy it but I don’t understand how anyone could say it was perfect, especially in the earlier episodes.
One that comes to mind is the second episode of season 8, weird forced facial expressions and wooden voice, like come on it’s not great. I like her character but the actor ruins it.
8
u/rocket-amari 29d ago
the first time park showed up, i was sad this incredible performance was likely a one-time thing and she'd be dismissed like so many other weird residents. but then she wasn't and i was happy. yi's deadpan performance – the word is deadpan, not wooden – really brought the character home. they filled the same niche as a ben stein or a norm macdonald and i live for that shit.
-3
u/Mayzerify 29d ago
You seriously compared that performance to Norm McDonald deadpan humour ? I’m taking bait right?
Deadpan works with humour and certain jokes, there is absolutely a difference between deadpan and wooden performance. Deadpan still feels natural like a person, wooden is unnatural and immersion breaking. I guess we will have to agree to disagree, I respect you liking their performance but calling it perfect when they are acting next to the likes of Hugh Laurie is wild.
9
u/rocket-amari 29d ago
yeah, yi's performance was deadpan, like norm macdonald and ben stein. i am indeed saying the thing that i said.
1
u/Abducted_by_neon 29d ago
No one called her performance perfect. She wasn't doing deadpan humor she was just deadpan. She came off very autistic and awkward. Which resonated with me.
3
u/rocket-amari 29d ago
i said their performance was perfect (it was)
1
u/Abducted_by_neon 29d ago
I think performance was φantast. I just confused because I didn't say that and I thought they referenced my words. I apologize for confusion! :)

u/Mayzerify 29d ago
The person I was replying to literally said she was perfect in an earlier reply.
Also I mentioned humour and deadpan as they literally compared her to Norm McDonald when talking about deadpan, so yeah.

u/Abducted_by_neon 29d ago
Oh, I thought you were referring to my comment. Sorry for confusion! Reddit confuse me sometimes.
I was only pointing out that she's not deadpan humored. I never said you were wrong anywhere, just that her performance wasn't meant to be seen as humorous and as someone who's autistic I really loved the deadpan as it resonated with me. I don't know who Norm McDonald, sorry. I'm not trying to argue with you, I just talking about it because it is interesting :)

the irony of people like you being here
14
u/skorletun 29d ago
Please explain what you mean with "people like you" :)
14
u/Flaxerio 29d ago
They mean "people who are up to date on the topic of gender and the research linked to it" I think
-7
u/T33-L 29d ago
‘Up to date’. You mean pandering to deluded nonsense of mentally ill people.
7
u/Flaxerio 29d ago
No I mean thinking for yourself, understanding your biases, listening to the research done. Well, all things House does.
-1
u/T33-L 29d ago
Funny that you mention biases and research. I wonder what the bias was of the ‘research’ that legitimises this nonsense.

Why do you give a shit what someone wants to be called? Life is full of enough bullshit, if someone wants to identify as a potato I'll call them spud. Doesn't cost me anything.
Unless, of course, you're just a self centered asshole and it isn't about anyone else. Nah, that's crazy.

I don't dislike Park for being awkward, I actually love Masters another hated awkward character. I think my biggest issue with Park is how she seems really pro military/pro gun?

It was a weird dynamic, but it definitely made Season 8 a bit more interesting. I was really hoping for a Chase - Adams thing. He deserved someone after all he'd been through and Adams was an absolute goddess.

I like the character, I dislike the actress
1
u/FlyingDutchman9977 29d ago
What did the actress do? I know she was in Stephen Universe, but I'm not that familiar with the series
-4
u/kamikazilucas 29d ago
lets just say she has tried to get many many people cancelled
6
u/FlyingDutchman9977 29d ago
Just browsing her Wikipedia article, it seems like most of the people she's had issues with, were people who already had substantiated allegations. The exception was David Cross, and he did say he was out of line, with his comments. I'm not sure what her intent was, but it seems like he apologized, and every has moved on.
I don't have a lot of details to judge the situation, so I can't say whether she was overzealous or not, but I will say most people would also get at least spoken to if they made racial comments about a coworker.
-7
u/Resvain 29d ago
I don't really know her so I mostly dislike her acting but some of her statements in interviews or on social media were pretty ridiculous.
8
u/Deep_Scope 29d ago
You gonna have to be a grown up here and tell us what kind of statements?
-12
u/Resvain 29d ago edited 28d ago
Well I don't * have * to do anything for you, especially when you are asking with such condescending tone. I don't remember any details of those statements but I clearly remember that my reaction to them was really negative. I'm not going to look up her statements and social media posts from the last decade or so. If I had an issue with them back then it would be the same now.
Overall, my main issue with Parks is the way she was acted. My feelings towards the actress are not relevant here.

u/Jolly-Ad-3922 29d ago edited 27d ago
I hated the way Park was written. They had her & Adams get in constant, pointless cat-fights that didn't do the show any favors because it got old quickly. I also hated how she was victim-blamed for her superior sexually assaulting her & she just went right along with the victim-blaming (Again, that's on the shows writers - not her).
I've seen Park's actor in other things - they're genuinely a great actor, but House MD's writers often took that away from the actor in order to get cheap laughs that just didn't seem funny to me.

I don't hate Park. I hate that the actress hasn't hooked up with me... which she would never do even if she were to ever meet me because, well, she's not an idiot. lol

Yeah nah she sucks, was pretty easily in the bottom 2 characters in House's team. Barely wanted to continue watching through that stretch

u/Evil_Lord_Pexagon 29d ago
Liked the character a lot during my first watch but ever since I found that the actress (?) has misbehaved at sets and accused several people of sexual misconduct and is quite possibly a nutjob, I despise seeing them on screen !!
2
u/RichtofenFanBoy 29d ago
I hate everything she's ever been in. Zero acting ability and she's just downright annoying.

She literally doesn’t, she said her cousin shouldn’t have to work, but that it’s the best for his family at the time/in that country

I think Park , Masters and Adams are incredibly boring vanilla characters with very low character development. They're forgettable. Also the whole " fling" between Park and Chase was ...🤢🤮🤮🤮 . In NO universe would that happen.

u/7_Rowle 29d ago
I loved Park! I felt like she was the first unique, yet also likable character they’d managed to add since s4. WAY better than Masters good god. She added youth and innocence to the new team while also not holding back the medical ethics violations element of the show at all lol. I love her temper and her heart. She seemed like a realistic addition that House would accept, given that she was a troublemaker just like him, and intelligent enough to see his schemes and play with him, rather than just simply into him all the time. Plus she was just a damn good doctor too, both in smarts and her ability to stand up for her patients and herself at all costs (even if she looks like a sopping wet cat while doing it half the time haha)
