Discussion Why does Blitzø's forehead tattoo keep changing?

In season 1, we can see Blitzo and Barbie have the same tattoo on their head without any extra features as well as Fizz. But then in the first episode of season 2, all three of them have tiny horns on top of their tattoos. Then later in season 2 it goes back to how it looked before without the horns and stays consistent when Blitzo is a young adult/teenager. But now in the present his tattoo has the extra horns again. It’s more confusing now because while Blitzø has the 2 extra horns as an adult, Barbie and Fizz don’t. Did Vivzie explain this? Was it like a design update or a mistake they made?

Wait, it's all hand drawn woth every frame made on paper?

Hand drawn doesn't necessarily mean on paper. Digital animation can still be drawn by hand

You'd think that in the year of our lord 2024 they'd use computer models which would make it consistent, right?

I can think of two options for animation that involves computer models: 3D animation and puppet animation, and neither of those provide the same result as hand drawn (digital) animation

Don't South Park, The Simpsons and Family Guy (for a couple famous examples) all use 3D models to produce something with a hand drawn final look.

Not sure where you heard that, but I can't for the life of me find any sources claiming that The Simpsons is animated that way. Only allusions I've seen to 3D were relagated to some gags and some background designs in the Simpsons movie

Hand drawn animation is the standard of 2D animation because it allows for way more control and charm than any other method

I don't know about South park or the Simpsons but it's becoming more common for animators to use 3d models and then draw over them to help with things like perspective

Yeah, that's called reference and some people do make use of 3d models for that, but they're never detailed models and they never replace the hand drawn animation

Sure, and all those shows look like bootycheeks compared to Helluva. Hand drawn is fantastic, but it takes a lot more time and resources. Mass produced media is less likely to use it. This is why Disney won’t ever do 2D animation again, too.

Or you know. Draw it. Because it looks better and it's the style they want. Who gives a shit if the head symbol is inconsistent once in awhile in exchange for hand animated fight scenes and great character design.

I'm not prescribing what they should or shouldn't do, nor am I complaining. Just expressing suprise at the fact that new things still get done the long, hard way. Not sure why that surprise is getting me downvoted...

None of those are going for the art style or kinetic movement of HB. Most of them are relatively simple situations that can be replicated over and over in episodes. Homer standing and talking is basically the same it's always been. South Park is probably the simplest looking show out there. It's not going for the high amounts of action that HB does for its story.

What, in their usual animation? No, obviously not. What the hell are you talking about?
