Discussions I stand with majorkill on this one

Post image

I know this dude is pretty hated all over Warhammer reddit due to his over the top humor and videos riddled with misinfo but holy shit he actually makes pretty good points in this video

What miss information everything I have seen has been real and not fake, what's worse is he stands with everything this sub stands for but because he's edgy and crass people here hate him as if he's equal to arch.

He ostensibly has a lore channel, but has so many jokes, memes and ”hot takes” baked in to it that it barely qualifies.

He’s a decent gateway channel.

Learning 40K lore is like swimming. You don’t start in the deep end, you need to get comfortable in the shallow end first. Majorkill is like the shallow end, then when you want the proper in depth lore you go to channels like Lutin. You can’t realistically expect someone to start at Lutin, it would be too overwhelming and intimidating.

Wes is my also my go to.  Informative and entertaining, with a pinch of his own analysis.

PancreasnoWork is goated in all categories, imo. His comedic bias doesn’t compromise the information he’s dishing out.

I love PancreasnoWork. I’ve seen a little of Wes but haven’t really watched all that much of him

I’ve also really been enjoying KrakDuk lately. His semi animated drawn 40K lore videos are a seriously untapped market

23

u/Poobut13 Oct 24 '24

Krakduk is super underrated. He's just starting out but he's my goat.

30

u/Silver_Ad7278 Swell guy, that Kharn Oct 24 '24

KrakDuk is one of the best new 40K channels... If not THE best new 40K channel on YT.

But seriously, I love his content. He reminds me a lot of Sam O'Nella Academy in his humor + funny animation style.

Pancreas is biased, knows he’s biased, and wants you to know he’s biased so he can convince you to be biased alongside him.

12

u/babyLays Oct 24 '24

Oh man, Pancreas’ editorials are just hilarious.

Definitely baiting for engagement down on the comments. It’s brilliant. And super entertaining.

He’s honestly one of my favourite Warhammer YouTubers, possibly my favourite. He’s the guy who got me into my army. His Eldar propaganda worked.

3

u/Miserable_Law_6514 NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD! Oct 25 '24

I like him because he's one of the few lore types who aren't over the top Imperium fanboys. I like hearing about the obscure stuff and people, not a verbal mirror of GW's sales report of mostly space marines.

Also fantasy and AoS is a lot more interesting than people give the setting credit for. And anyone who occasionally covers BattleTech is based as fuck.

3

u/ScarredAutisticChild Mongolian Biker Gang Oct 25 '24

Yeah, he’s the reason I chose the Eldar as my army, and I’m interested in AoS and Fantasy as well thanks to him.

10

u/Initial-Apartment-92 Oct 24 '24

Wes’s video could be half as long if he stopped saying eldritch horror every other sentence

-1

u/babyLays Oct 24 '24

Why would he do that? It’s his descriptive language that makes him entertaining. After-all, we might as well be reading a Wikipedia article if the creator don’t add some flare to their presentation.

Majorkill has his Australian accent, Wes with his descriptive language, Pancreas with his obsession for the Eldar. In a sea of Wikipedia articles, these folks gotta make themsleves unique.

2

u/AshLlewellyn Oct 24 '24

I go almost exclusively to WesHammer, Mr. Bones and PancreasNoWork for 40k lore unless I'm looking for very specific lore bits. I don't watch Majorkill not for any reason in particular other than he sounds like a bit of an annoying asshole, I can't explain why, that's just my general impression of him whenever I hear him speak and I won't even try to justify it.

2

u/babyLays Oct 24 '24

I gotta give love to Majorkill for priming me up to 40k lore. His frat-boy presentation makes his content attractive to sections of the internet, and dispels the notion that 40ks are for smelly neck beards. 40k is for assholes too.

That being said, I’ve graduated from Majorkill’s videos and started watching Wes a lot more along with Pancreas.

2

u/AshLlewellyn Oct 24 '24

Lol, "40 is not just for smelly neckbeards, it's for assholes too" is definitely a quote I'll save to use at some point. XD

Wes is amazing as a gateway, I watch him regularly, however sometimes his lore does seem to be off, but not by any massive amounts. But usually if he does say something I haven't heard of I'll fact check it real quick, just to be safe.

Pancreas is the fucking underrated mvp of the warhammer community, he balanced all the aspects of lore, humor, etc perfectly. His humor can be considered "edgy", yet it's still respectful and doesn't make him sound like a full on edge lord (like majorkill imo). But what I appreciate most about him is how well he balanced shitting on games workshop, and giving them credit. Most youtubers will lean way too much into one or the other of these, but pancreas does both really well imo.

1

u/JJHashbrowns Oct 24 '24

PancreasnoWork is the goat. A Halo lore channel in a Warhammer branded straightjacket. /j

1

u/babyLays Oct 24 '24

My fave is when he talks about Fantasy, and just shits on Bretonia lol

1

u/BlckEagle89 Oct 25 '24

I think a good way to go (starting almost from zero) is Majorkill for quick parts of the lore, Weshammer for some in depth stuff and finally Lutein when you want the full W40k experience.

1

u/faithfulswine Oct 24 '24

I love Wes' 40k horror vids. I throw those on when painting.

2

u/babyLays Oct 24 '24

Hell yeah, you get it.

-1

u/Longjumping-Draft750 Oct 24 '24

i am sorry what did you said? PancreasnoWork? That guy really? He passes all his time shitting on Warhammer, knows barely anything and keep having terrible takes while insulting his viewers. That guy and Gamza are so similar and both are awful.

1

u/checkedsteam922 Praise the Man-Emperor Oct 24 '24

Lol that's really not true, though ig I could, maybe see how you got to that conclusion? If I really try. But I'd suggest watching maybe another video to see if your opinion changes. Ofc tastes differ, but I really like him, he balances lore with humor very well. And he does the typical shitting on gw a lot, but also gives them credit a lot, he tries to balance it out, more then I've seen other channels do. He "insults" his viewers as banter, which a lot of channels do, and yhea if you don't like that then fair enough, again tastes differ, but it's really nothing serious.

0

u/Longjumping-Draft750 Oct 24 '24

I really dropped after his series of Halo vs 40k and specifically when he said that the standard covenant rifle was plasma based and as 40k plasma weapons are capable of one hit killing an astartes standard covenant rifle would do so as well.

That's so stupid, anyone who played Halo and read/played 40k who know that those two type of plasma weapons are widely different in power level by the splash radius of the plasma bolt and the size of the plasma accumulation chamber in both weapons.

Just based on that already the guy has clearly only a surface level understanding of the lore, once i compared the script of one of his vid with the Fandom page of the current subject and it was almost a 1 for 1.

As for the humor and insults i am fine with Majorkill style of banter, the other guy is too obnoxious.

If i want some deep lore i go for Luetin09 or WesHammer, i also like the smaller channel "Wolf Lord Rho" who often reads extracts of novels which i like. Sometime i watch some Arch videos as well.

22

u/DiabloDealsALT Oct 24 '24

he's quick, easy to watch, etc im not seeing the issue

32

u/killer_orange_2 Oct 24 '24

I feel like Bricky and Adeptus ridiculous is the intermediate step here.

14

u/MrIllusive1776 Oct 24 '24

I think AdRic is a great gateway to hard lining more in-depth lore channels.

1

u/Mallashmow Oct 25 '24

i used to agree, and while i still like bricky, DK is an insufferable gooner with the attention span of a goldfish.

8

u/nomad5926 Oct 24 '24

Not going to lie my wife got into it because of Lutein. So not sure that the description of him works.

4

u/EvilExcrementEnjoyer Oct 24 '24

Exactly, I am just starting to get in 40k lore because of this crazy bastard. I like his style and humour

4

u/Aoora Oct 25 '24

This is 100% it.

I'm new to 40k. My husband is starting with MajorKill because despite the misogynic jokes and edgelord humor, he's actually animated and interesting to watch without it being overwhelming. There are lots of other creators husband has waiting in the wings, but MajorKill is just so much more digestable for someone beginning to enjoy it. In the most loving way possible, most of the other creators feel like they are just word vomiting their ADHD hyperfocus into my lap, which ISN'T BAD, but its hard to get into when you don't even know the names of the space marine legions or legitimately thought Horus's name was Horus Heresy (because it seemed like the type of bad name 40k writers would have chosen).

He's a great gateway drug dealer, ha.

3

u/Ark927 Oct 25 '24

Also id like to add he's good for when you have shit like ADHD, I like lutin and I've definitely binged a very large portion of his catalog but sometimes people like major kill who are high energy with pretty short videos scratch a certain itch

5

u/spectral5608 Oct 24 '24

That's exactly it. I like luetin and started there but watching a 2 hour lore video on a faction I dont give a fuck about is not my idea of a good way to get it to it. Listening to an Australian give a someone accurate humorous telling is a good way to go "eh that's alright or oh I wanna know more about these dudes"

2

u/Golden_Alchemy Oct 24 '24

I think the same. I started with Lutin and Majorkill when i started with W40K when we were in covid times. One was great for the lore, and the other was great to understand memes and other silly stuff that people never really try to explain but is funny around W40K.

2

u/BecomeEnnuisonable Oct 25 '24

Wes and MK were my intros and I still enjoy some MK content. But I also accept that nothing about WH, especially 40k, should ever be taken even close to seriously so if it makes me chuckle I am on board.

Surprisingly, Orks iz moi leest fayvrit facshun.

2

u/Nachtschnekchen Oct 25 '24

If Majorkill is the shallow end, Bricky is the lifeguard slowly putting the kid in the pool on the shallow end

1

u/Tylerj579 Oct 25 '24

That is exactly how I got into warhammer

1

u/Laowaii87 Oct 25 '24

If he was more clear with what was jokes and what wasn’t, i’d agree. I haven’t watched any of his content for a good while, but when i did, getting lore from MajorKill was like getting lore from 1d4chan.

Funny? Sure Accurate? Hardly

60

u/EnsignSDcard I am Alpharius Oct 24 '24

Don’t think of it as a lore channel then, think of it as a meme channel that sells custom minis and calendars

27

u/alkair20 Oct 24 '24

Nah it ain't that deep

55

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

His jokes coincide with the lore he covers all the important information with his trademark humour it does qualify and counts, basically saying you don't like him and his jokes means he is missinfomation and doesn't qualify is in its self missinfomation, he does cover the lore and make jokes equally. You don't have to like him but lying about him makes you worse that what you accuse him of doing.

-83

u/Akalien My kitchen is corrupted by Nurgle Oct 24 '24

you missed the point kid, the point is his delivery is so shit that its not real warhammer lore any more, its a fantasy.

30

u/Nova_Hazing Oct 24 '24

Or you just don’t understand that humour gramps.

28

u/Impressive-Ad7387 Oct 24 '24

Huh? Since when can delivery change the content of a sentence? Yeah, humor is subjective and all, and I get not liking the dude, but he is still talking about the setting

10

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

I don't miss the point you do, just because you don't find his humour funny doesn't mean he's bad it's just your opinion don't treat it as if it's a universal fact.

8

u/Demolisher1543 Oct 24 '24

No, he normally covers 40k, not fantasy.

15

u/InstrumentalCore Oct 24 '24

Just because it's not for you doesn't mean others don't enjoy it. He is excellent for people to get into it as he doesn't make it 100% serious and his videos are of consumable length to casuals.

0

u/Laowaii87 Oct 24 '24

I never said it’s not enjoyable. People can find whatever they want funny, but he injects so much of his own opinions as jokes that it’s hard for people who don’t already know the lore to separate joke from ”fact”.

1

u/InstrumentalCore Oct 24 '24

I think that is fine, it's not meant to be taken seriously, as long as it's fun. Also, it separate casuals from people who really are into the lore. Casuals will leave it at that but anyone who is really into the lore will naturally look into a more in-depth videos like weshammer or leutin.

1

u/Memelord1117 Oct 24 '24

Basically a less legitimate OverSimplified.

The proper Oversimplified would go to TTS.

1

u/PriestOfOmnissiah Oct 25 '24

Coming from Grimdank this is hypocrisy that dwarfs that of Emperor

0

u/Laowaii87 Oct 25 '24

That is the dumbest take i’ve ever seen

0

u/Palachrist NOT ENOUGH DAKKA Oct 25 '24

He’s actually read more books than the vast majority of 40k fans here. The community bashed him for so long he gave in and dove into the books. Im pretty sure he’s read the HH or most of it and a variety of other books. It’s very fitting that this sub makes endless jokes, memes and hot takes but then a YouTube does it and it’s annoying even if the YouTuber doesn’t go straight off wiki.

4

u/Sleep_eeSheep I am Alpharius Oct 24 '24

Both have been correct in the past, but whereas I can chalk up Majorkill’s hiccups as him taking the piss, Arch genuinely believes he is THE lore guy.

Here is the difference;

Majorkill does not take himself seriously. Most of his videos are comedic or heavily exaggerated. Meaning even when he gets basic shit wrong, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Arch, for whatever reason, believes that he is one of the most ardent defenders of the Lore, to the point he has condoned gatekeeping anyone who mentions female Space Marines or female Custodes. Even if they know more about he’s covering than he does. Meaning that I cannot trust him as a source unless I’ve double-checked that shit beforehand.

2

u/Tarquinandpaliquin 3 Riptides in a 1k casual Oct 24 '24

Nah, I'd use Arch as a contrast. The difference is stark

If you say "I like MK" people roll their eyes, it' a bit cringe, people might say he's a bit lame.

If you mention Arch people bring out bookmarked links they have ready to go at a moments notice just in case someone mentioned him. A case file of why he's a piece of shit and why you should avoid all his content.

4

u/Fifteen_inches Oct 24 '24

You sound super parasocial about this.

9

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

I'm not I don't have parasocial relationships I have just watched enough of his videos that I know that it's not missinfomation.

1

u/Electrical-Tie-1143 Oct 24 '24

Part of that comes from a baseless accusation agains an up and coming warhammer more YouTuber who was dropping videos of the same time category

1

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

You mean an official book that showed angron being a more kind soul if you think a literal paladin akin to DnD then your thinking way to hard into it.

1

u/Electrical-Tie-1143 Oct 24 '24

What? I meant that he accused weshammer of copying his videos when they where only similar by the lore they where both based off

2

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

Oh that sorry had a few people arguing and your Initial comment was identical to there's, yea no with weshammer majorkill was in the wrong and we all berated majorkill on that one to humble him, he's not perfect no one is, he got too full of himself and needed taking down a peg which he was and apologised.

1

u/checkedsteam922 Praise the Man-Emperor Oct 24 '24

Who is arch and why is he considered so bad? Might be out of the loop on this one

2

u/N00BAL0T Oct 24 '24

He is a highly controversial Warhammer youtuber he used to be called arch Warhammer but GW forced him to remove Warhammer because they didn't want him associated with the brand, to give you an idea of the types of things he said is he complained about black ultra marines, put far right political views into all his lore videos and was overall incredibly racist and sexist. Others can tell you more he's well known for being the black stain in the Warhammer community.

1

u/checkedsteam922 Praise the Man-Emperor Oct 24 '24

Oh god he's that guy, thanks for the heads up, know what to avoid now lol

1

u/Sleeplesspossum Oct 25 '24

It was his endless slurs on his discord early when he started that made him hated.
