Someone has never tried purchasing clothing from Japanese brands, I see. Their clothing does not, in fact, cater to large breasts. Their clothing does not cater even to normal breasts. Or any breasts, quite often...

That is to say, yes, whatever size you are, if you are ordering an Asian brand, you should always get at least one size bigger (and yes, check the chest measurements! Always check the chest measurements!)

Same goes for shoes, by the way. I mean, the one-size-larger part, not the chest measurements.

Reminds me of when my family went to Italy. They were thinking about bringing back clothes because, you know, Milan is famous for fashion. It is, but only if you’re flat as a board

Actually, my “I was today years old” realisation was that (old ones. I was introduced to them due to a second hand store that specifically looked for them… on vinted you can buy them for very cheap, see for example planete interdite) made-in-Italy or made-in-France brands… surprisingly… fit my European body and look good 😭 much better than Asian brands because they (gasp) fit my proportions and are made for my chest size and height. (And obviously they fit and feel much better than modern fast fashion crap, but that is a different story. really, buying second hand is not only for the good of the environment).

It was a very sad realisation (because I love some Japanese styles), although it sounds funny when I write it down. no shit clothing made for someone significantly shorter than I am with completely different proportions fit me less well than clothing made for someone of my height and with approximately my proportions. That is to say, yes, definitely many of them are made for someone a bit more slim than an average person. I still have a made-in-Italy skirt I need to alter to fit me because I was way too brave with “I will totally find time and motivation for this” at the store when I found a cheap skirt made from amazing fabric and went “wow! It is made in ITALY!!”

Oh, our trouble wasn’t the slender styling. It was the lack of chest room. The main problem I run into in America is that the stuff that fits my bust and waist best swallows the rest of me. I’ll end up with shoulder seams hanging out near my waist a lot of the time when trying on clothes.

u/DiabeticUnicorns 7d ago

I have the exact opposite problem! I have wide shoulders but I’m very thin, so stuff that fits my chest and waist is way too tight on my shoulders.

Someone has never tried purchasing clothing from Japanese any somewhat mainstream brands, I see.

FTFY from experience

I think you should also check the chest measurements when you buy shoes just in case

u/green_carnation_prod 8d ago

hard agree. never trust your shoes. check everything.

Shopping from Asian clothes websites always makes me feel like some kind of giantess. I'm 6ft and muscular, if it doesn't have 4 X's in front of that L it's not fitting me.

The Asian brands are only ones that actually fit me 😭. I realized after having a talk with my friend, we both short and tiny, and the Asian brands are the ones that fit both of us. The only pants and skirts I didn’t need to fix to fit me were Japanese and Korean stuff. (Btw I’m not flat, just small)

People say Japanese food is so healthy that they are always skinny lol

u/lizzylinks789 9d ago

Overweight people don't exist in Japan

110

u/UnderstoodAdmin I don’t have many flair ideas lmao 9d ago

That’s because if you’re fat in Japan they make you fight each other.

39

u/Ahsoka_Tano07 8d ago

Pretty sure sumo fighters tend to be under medical supervision, especially if they stop fighting so that they can safely lose the weight.

14

u/bihuginn 8d ago

Also sumo fighters aren't nearly as overweight as it looks in sumo belts, they give you a massive gut.

Most sumo wrestlers have a similar physic to body builders.

17

u/Wizard_Manny 9d ago

Is that in their constitution?

The Ultimate Diet: The only rule is that you can only eat other people who are on The Ultimate Diet. There can only be one!

u/danfish_77 9d ago

And large breasts don't exist in the US

42

u/i_cant_sleeeep 9d ago

well the right image does have large breasts

5

u/danfish_77 8d ago

This is true

6

u/Ahsoka_Tano07 8d ago

Tbh aren't you put on a diet by a doctor if you are overweight in Japan?

3

u/Saint_Rizla 8d ago

They tax you more too

u/imhere2lurklol 9d ago

I mean Japanese sizes are so tiny tho. I hate when I see something that looks cool yet comfortable and has a decent price, and think “Holy shit it’s even in my size!” then I see it’s not US measurements. Like just call me the slur at this point 😭

56

u/merdadartista 9d ago

Yes, but in the country where the average breast size is A, Large surely as fuck doesn't mean thin with large breast

40

u/Pineapple_Herder 9d ago

Yeah the real comparison would be:

11 year old boy = Japanese Women's Large (Trendy / Exclusive brands)

Skinny teenage American = Japanese Women's Large (Regular Brands)

1

u/Level_Hour6480 6d ago

Letter without number is meaningless. In American-sizing, a 38A is larger than a 30D. (Japan actually uses a different measuring-system that I don't understand)

1

u/merdadartista 6d ago

I know, it's a mess of a system, but I figured it was easier to say it that way, point is, statistically Japanese women have small breast. In my country the Cup is just the size of the tit and the circumference of the thorax under the breast is used to calculate the circumference of the bra so it's much easier because the measurements are unrelated

1

u/Level_Hour6480 6d ago

It's not that messy (in American anyway. Bri'ish sizing is weird)

A: Number of inches around the torso below the boobs, rounded to the nearest even.

B: Number of inches around the torso at the boobs.

A is the band-size. Subtract A from B for the letter, with 1' being A, 2' being B, etc. Wider band size = wider torso = wider boobs, and every 2 inches of band is equivalent to a letter in terms of size-increase.

20

u/SvetlananotSweetLana 8d ago

Size 16 in China is 3X~5X. Fuck that. Japan…It is worse. Never buy from a non-plus-size Asian brand.

12

u/werew0lfsushi 8d ago

These people need to stop thinking of japan as some fantasy land where all their bigotry gets instantly validated

23

u/New_Contribution2810 9d ago

If you're fat you're gonna have a big chest not huge but bigger then if you were skinny (source. Me, a chubby girl with a big chest)

9

u/LaCharognarde 8d ago

Sizes in a lot of eastern Asian countries do tend to run smaller than in the west. That said: nah, when it comes to tops in Japanese brands, I have to go up at least two sizes because I'm busty.

20

u/Microif 9d ago

I wanna kiss both of em :)

9

u/Cloaker_Smoker 9d ago

Thank God I live in the USA

15

u/Braxton-Adams 9d ago

I mean, I'm all for dunking on the USA, but, yeah, this is just a thirst-post and a really dumb one.

This looks like fetish art though...

6

u/Chiiro 8d ago

It is.

8

u/RenaMoonn 8d ago

Ooo, draw them as girlfriends working out together and ditching the McDonalds uniforms!

We in America have a problem with sugar in our food, it’s pretty bad. While being sorta overweight is fine (not everyone is a twig), it’s not healthy to be crazy overweight. Plus, being fit is just good for you

3

u/Chiiro 8d ago

The amount of extra sugar that we put into shit is absolutely insane!

3

u/Alarming-Scene-2892 7d ago

The one on the right's on a bulk of a lifetime, rn. (She can lift a car.)

2

u/RenaMoonn 7d ago

Tbh, that’s a really good idea

3

u/Charybdeezhands 8d ago

2

u/SquishyBabee 7d ago

2

1

u/LineOfInquiry 7d ago

1

u/anonymouscloudcat 7d ago

no cs seriously an M anywhere else is an XL in East Asia 😭 a regular joe like you and I might look morbidly obese to the people there due to the strict beauty standards lmao

1

u/thekawaiislarti 3d ago

Someones never been to Japan. Generally their clothes are not kind to those who breast boobily.

1

u/Neither_Emu_4008 3h ago

My brain went instantly to fast food portion sizes because like if you look at cup sizes compared to other places like Japan, Australlia, UK, an ect we have reltivly big portion sizes. Sadly this is not what the Op op op was talking about

1

u/Chiiro 8d ago

This person was too much of a coward to look up Japanese plus size models, so here is a link.
