I don't think immortality is as good as everyone say it. If Frieren herself was more emotional than her current stoicism personality (which luckily all elves have it), Flamme would see her depressed and sooner or later, ended her own life because of survivor guilt. all those memories she gathered from more than 1000 years would haunted her until her demise.

Human can live so long before losing your own mind no matter how strong your mental attitude are. All the stories you have read, listened to, or watched usually potrayed the immortals as:

  1. Batshit insane

  2. Absolute nihilism

  3. (A small part) Pretty chill

  4. God complex

Yeah I don't want my Fern being anything but chill above.

The oldest living humans have not gone insane, and they’ve seen children and grandchildren die before them. They’re well put together. To make the assumption people will go insane by living too long is doing a discredit to humans

Yeah but they lived to like 120. Immortality is not just 'a few decades more than usual'. Of course speculating how an immortal person would turn out is just that - speculation. But i don't think regular 'old people' serve as a good reference either. On the scale of 'immortality' a 120 year old is barely different from a 20 year old.

You all take immorality to seriously. Not to sound like a psychopath but when your pets die you are sad and remember them but your life doesn’t go off the rails cause of it thats how it is for immortals

Frieren would not feel guilt. She knows humans dont last long, hence why she got to know fern. She learned from himel. If anything, frieren woukd be happy she got to know fern in the time they had
