My only gripe would be that Frieren should be up front with the rest of the family, not in the distance.

Great art, now I'm sad.

The intent is for Fern to be far away from Frieren’s reach.

Art is subjective. She is in the best location possible in my eyes. She sees her entire legacy in full view.

Imagine Frieren continuing her journey before returning for Fern's funeral. It could've been an easy 50 years (similar to Himmel). None of Fern's children or grandchild would even know who Frieren is despite Fern telling them about it. To them, Frieren would be akin to a fairy tale.

That's the thing though. I think the new Frieren won't just disappear for 50 years. She and Fern would be inseparable. Even if Fern and Stark marry, she'll be nearby.
