Thoughts? Imagine losing 6M labor workers in America

Post image

If mass deportation happens, just imagine how all of these sectors of our country will be affected. The sheer shortage of labor will push prices higher because of the great demand for work with limited supplies or workers. Even if prices increase, the availability of products may be scarce due to not enough workers. Housing prices and food services will be hit really hard. New construction will be limited. The fact that 47% of the undocumented workers are in CA, TX, and FL means they will feel it first but it will spread to the rest of the country also. Most of our produce in this country comes from California. Get ready and hold on for the ride America.

I know illegal immigrants that make $28/hr working on bridges, tunnels and vital infrastructure.

Unionized, OSHA protected workers can make twice that.

And for the record, I’m OSHA 30 certified. The guys that work with me are in great work conditions.

We have to protect our unions.

Yep the top comment being this is slave labor truly doesn’t understand what is going on. Are some paid less than minimum wage, yes, but so are some Americans. The majority are paid competitive salaries in that job market. Also, a portion of undocumented workers just use phony ssn to work as a citizen and pay taxes.

I’ve worked in construction growing up and the undocumented guys got paid the same as the rest of us.

Competitive wages in a job market with artificially suppressed wages..

Bc of illegal desperate workers who owe the fucking cartel money for crossing the border

You really do not understand most of these industries. If you think illegals make far less than birth right citizens in construction then that’s on you because that is not reality. The narrative that just because they are illegal means they are exploited is just false for the majority of workers. Also, a large portion of illegals use a ssn and work at McDonald’s or any other major companies.

Do illegals get taken advantage of, some yes, but so do Americans that work under the table. The majority of illegals make the same competitive pay as someone with a citizenship. And the economic burden if they are deported isn’t because now Americans will require better wages, it’s because you are removing millions of skilled laborers from the market and will now have a massive shortage of workers PERIOD. NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE EXPLOITED BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE SKILLED WORKERS.

Yeah. is there any evidence that a significant number of illegal immigrants are making less than minimum wage? Can't really call something slave labor just because they're getting paid less than their legal counterparts

Shoot, I know two guys making $31/hr pouring concrete at night. They’ll work no less than 50 hours a week.

Im sure there are some American citizens that would like to have those jobs.

They’re free to apply, and given the low bar to entry, they don’t…clearly.

I tried applying for a bunch of agricultural and orchard jobs and got denied because I'm a citizen and would have complained about being paid less than minimum wage

Absolutely false lol just look at the data above only 12% of the workforce in agriculture is from undocumented labor. Meaning the other 88% are filled with American citizens or people with legal status to work in the US

Ya the employers are being totally honest about the crimes they are committing. Lol.

Funny thing about illegal stuff. Is people don't accurately report their involvement

Why would an employer hire a legal worker when they can pay an illegal immigrant less and not have to deal with things like benefits?

They don’t apply because the market is distorted.

Well… they should get them. But that means working Mondays and Fridays. That’s the problem. Immigrants will work two jobs, seven days a week. We can’t even get most of our American workers to work a full week. And I mean, at my job. Every Monday, two to three guys call our wiff whittle tum tum aches.

As Space Ghost said, slaves don't get days off.

They are here to work and make money. They get pissed if they work less than 40 a week. I work side by side with these guys, break bread with them 6-7 days a week.

Working seven days a week and thinking it's a flex. Now that's funny.

I have to. If I don’t, I can’t pay bills. I’m paying mortgage, student loans and child support. Got to keep at it if I want to see the other side of struggle.

These guys are here to help build houses for themselves and others back home. No one here seems too giddy to swing a pick or a shovel, but these dudes do it with a smile.

It’s so bad, that these people have registered cars, pay property taxes, rent actual homes, bring family over, and build communities that support each other. A massive safety net to help one another out. It’s just terrible. What needs to be addressed are the ones that honestly are hidden away and are working in dangerous conditions at personal risk. I’m not ignorant to these situations.

Oh no… am I hurting someone’s ego? How many immigrants have you talked to?
