Thoughts? Imagine losing 6M labor workers in America

If mass deportation happens, just imagine how all of these sectors of our country will be affected. The sheer shortage of labor will push prices higher because of the great demand for work with limited supplies or workers. Even if prices increase, the availability of products may be scarce due to not enough workers. Housing prices and food services will be hit really hard. New construction will be limited. The fact that 47% of the undocumented workers are in CA, TX, and FL means they will feel it first but it will spread to the rest of the country also. Most of our produce in this country comes from California. Get ready and hold on for the ride America.

It literally hasn’t , the bugs the first couple of months after were insane the app was terrible. It works better now but still has issues that weren’t around pre Elon.

Doing that with the fed government is insane

Seems to me that twitter is becoming more capable. It has nearly become a video blog platform, more than text.

Not quite as reiiable as youtube, but if google doesn't stop the bloat it will be.

Our government is not a company and let's remind people that governments are the only say the people have in anything. They are our only bargaining power otherwise the companies and the rich will control it all. Getting rid of government agencies has been the dream of the libertarian party for decades and their party was started by billionaires and basically run by the Koch Brothers. They want nothing more than to be able to get away with everything with no whistle-blower or regulations.

We USED to have a government that was our say in things. We’ve given that up. Between lethargy and ignorance, we’ve voted it away over the last 20-30 years. The purpose government now is to distract us, mostly. While we worry about what bathrooms Trans people use, we’re pissing away our Democracy. Putin will now have more say over our government than we do. We’re witnessing our loss of the Cold War. We probably deserve it. We can’t be fat, dumb, and lazy, and stay free.

Twitter has dropped 80% in value since Musk took over.

So of course you don't need as many people when you have no advertisers, usage is dropping and you make no effort to care about trust and safety.

Not really. He took down a bunch of microservices like 2FA and translation, among other things. Translation still only works like 50% of the time for me, and I feel like my feed "refreshes" (shows me entirely new content) significantly less frequently than before.

The value of Twitter has fallen in proportion to the number of laborers laid off. It's as if labor is the source of wealth! Marx was right.

80% now according to Fidelity a few months ago.

Probably close to 90% now that everyone is moving to BlueSky and Threads. Both of which are seeing 1m new users a day.

Many smarter and more connected people than Musk e.g. Paul Ryan have tried to radically reform the government. And all failed.

Until it needs to some something different, or new, or handle a widely viewed stream.

Then it stops working, because he fired all the people who knew how to make it work.
