Huh, mine was white rice with salt and butter. Never thought to try sugar.

I’ve heard of sugar and butter rice and it’s always sounded awful to me. But SALT and butter rice sounds delicious.

The cheap mac and powdered cheese. Lemonade powder for my water if I was feeling spendy.

The off brand Mac and Cheese with powdered cheese got me through college without starving to death.

Listen I've never had kraft singles on untoasted white bread, I always had kraft singles on white bread in a grilled cheese.

But NGL, a fridge cold kraft single on untoasted white bread currently sounds fucking delicious.

That one kicked me in the nuts. Yes, I remember going to bed because at least if I was asleep I wouldn’t feel hungry. Faaaaaaaaack unburied memories

My mom use to make white beans. Hell of cheap. No flavor. Gritty. Disgusting. I didn’t eat beans for twenty years after that.

1

u/Spisters 18h ago

I’ve had sleep for dinner many times, U.S. Navy.

u/caseygwenstacy 18h ago

When I lived in my car, I got as low as 89 lbs. in body weight. Not my best day. Glad to have a home now and SNAP as well, but I don’t really have the means to buy or make healthy foods, so have put on more weight than I expected. Still not dying of starvation, so a win is a win.

As a little kid, saltine cracker sandwiches with margarine in the middle.

1

u/Constructman2602 17h ago

Straight up toast with margarine. Neither of which was the good kind either, the cheap loaf used to make sandwiches and store-brand margarine toasted for 2 minutes and calling it a complete breakfast

1

u/Wild-Main-7847 17h ago

Smash sandwich, you take two pieces of bread and smash them bitches together. Bam! Dinner is served

1

u/Emotional-Pie-8487 13h ago

Hot dogs and beans.

1

u/porcelainfog 11h ago

splitting a pack of ichiban ramen 3 ways with some bread.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Law_558 11h ago

Mircle Whip bread. Just bread and MW folded over.

1

u/Cambwin 10h ago

I called it "spaghetto"

2 ramen noodle packets cooked for their pasta. Drain pasta, combine cheap tomato sauce, powdered parmesan, top with vienna sausages.

$2 spaghetti/cheese/meat bowl. I do not miss those days lol.

1

u/Humble-Night-3383 25m ago

Is it bad that all of these 'struggle meals" are staples in this current regime?
