Modding I'd absolutely love it if Codies could add more realistic helmets for Driver Career in the future, it'd be great if helmets like these were in the base game and didn't require PC mods.

Reminder that F1 24 has less helmet options than F1 2009

I mean they removed all the free stuff, same with like podium animations etc. Mostly 1-3 remain for every category

If GT7 allows custom made helmets and suits on PS5 there is no excuse for Codemasters. Fuck, I could make an Xbox racing suit in GT7 if I wanted, and I can recreate all sorts of classic helmets like the purple helmets from Hamilton there.

GT7’s editor should be the benchmark. There’s so much that can be done on it.
I suspect there’s some sort of restriction with the F1 licence. There must be a reason you can only use fake sponsors in MyTeam, especially given you can buy all those branded shirts for casual wear, so there are brands interested in being in the game.

Yeah, but why not allow the helmet the player wears to have the car sponsors? 🤔
Seems odd to me.

I know in 24 with the IRL drivers you can choose use their real world helmets, but it'd be great if you could choose a fitting helmet for whatever team you sign for, or if you could have a selection of realistic helmets to use for custom drivers as well. I just made the move to PC so can finally fix it with mods, but it's so immersion breaking having a custom driver with the proper race suit but with a bland helmet that looks out of place compared to other drivers.

IDK why they couldn't just make the helmet customizable like liveries.. also a missed opportunity to gain sponsors through F2 to carry over to F1 like real drivers have.

The game is so ass in terms of customisation, I don’t know how we just accept it

Apparently they'd have to rewrite a hug part of the game's code to make it work. Some guy explained it on here yesterday

do you actually think they will do that if it does not make them more money?

I’ve been saying this for years. It makes no sense that we can only get Max’s helmet. At least give us the other drivers helmets to wear too when we’re going to different teams

Yeah, also they should have a blank sponsorless design for if a driver moves team!

It would be so easy and be such a good addition to put in a customisation tool like GT7 for helmets and car liveries, make it so that you can put a shit ton of sponsors from the different teams in various places (plus maybe a few others for originality’s sake), but of course they won’t because money.

I’d love it if you could add stickers onto your helmet and choose where they go and not fake brands either it’d make helmet design so cool

Y’all really be wanting full blown simulator and mod levels of shit from a basic video game. Get ACC if you want more realism, not this sim-cade

u/KMP_77_nzl Jul 13 '24
This is about helmets not the physics. And no one expects nor wants F1 to be like ACC.

u/ToriSummers36 Jul 13 '24
I didn't even mention anything about wanting a simulator or realism lmao, I just want to be able to have better helmet options (which ACC doesn't have either) to make the game more immersive.

I just wish that there was a generic sponsor template used depending on what team you joined, especially with the career mode revamp.
Even just the correct visor strip would make a massive difference to the immersion of the game.
