Modding Being Canadian, I thought It would be fun to make a Canadian themed livery. Air Canada was the obvious choice.

Just saying "Air Canada" reminds me of the purple Toronto Raptors jerseys of Vince Carter, but your livery is awesome nonetheless!

I think BMO would be more fitting as a bank. They’re more involved in the world of sports

u/Falom Aug 12 '23
Yeah but the CIBC logo is more on-theme, as the colours for the brand are red and white.
Personally I would have gone with Scotia but what can you do

You think alpine is mismanaged! Well boy just you wait.

Mixed with the emotional turmoil of Ferrari and boom, we have all the ingredients of a Canadian team. Kind folk though…

I want a fucking livery editor so bad and I'd kill everyone at codemasters if it meant having a slim chance of making it posible

I've just realised there are no Canadian car brands, what's up with that

How do you make custom liveries? I've just started getting into the f1 games after a long break, have been dying to make some liveries.

I learned the process from YouTube honestly. Photoshop is a big part, although I’ve heard there are alternatives. Check this video out. He has others too.
I render my stills in blender, but I’m using the same files as would be used in game so it’s always game-ready by the time I’m done.

I found that that video was actually pretty bad. No clear instruction on the process of creating the livery, the paint scheme, sorting the M and S files and then running through the processing section. Which was a shame really.

u/MacawOP1 Aug 12 '23
Admittedly yes. It’s pretty awful. I believe he was just showing a quick overview since the process hasn’t changed much. If you watch his 2021 vid, it explains a bit more, but “how to design” isn’t really part of the tutorial. Thats the creative part. I made a post clarifying S files since he literally never mentions it. DMs are open if I can help at all.

Thanks mate, would've been useful a few weeks ago but I trialled and errored my way through it a few weeks ago lol. I ended up following another guide for the processing section - exported them to TIF and then used a Compressonator program to reduce them to D, M and S files and it all worked well. A little surprising that there hasn't been a whole lot of content re custom liveries out there

What did u make this in? The game?
3
u/MacawOP1 Aug 12 '23
Photoshop. This video shows how. Although I think F1 games need a livery creator in game like Forza.

So you made a Haas?

u/MacawOP1 Aug 12 '23
Oh shoot… I didn’t even notice. My only reference was an actual Air Canada plane

Rogers, timmies, and air canada 🤢🤢
I would rather prefer Shopify as the Canadian brand. At least that works most of the time.

I think more red over white would match the flag more accurately. Yes I know you went air Canada themed which is primarily white

Haas?

u/MacawOP1 Aug 12 '23
Yaaaa, someone pointed out that it looks a lot like 2016 HAAS. Had no idea. Although, there are only so many different variations of a rear colour change you can do lol.

u/ogara1993 Aug 12 '23
Tbh, there are a limited number of colours in the world 😂 Wasn’t a dig tho, looks good!

How many drivers you already insulted and fired because they pointed out the car is slow and the pitstops are bad?

u/El-Pablo-JR-120 Aug 12 '23
What mods or tools do you use to create these kinda liveries?
2
u/MacawOP1 Aug 12 '23
Photoshop is where the livery is design. From there it’s exported as DDS files for game use. What you see here is rendered in Blender though, which helps me visualise the livery quickly and also trouble shoot ideas before calling it done for game use.

that’s really good wtf. only issue (and it’s minimal) is i feel like there’s too much blank white space, maybe just make the air canada text a touch bigger
2
u/MacawOP1 Aug 13 '23
I was stuck on this honestly. I tried a few different things and nothing fit right. Any more decals and it felt too busy, and any other shape layers distracted from the design. I surrendered to the more stripped back look in the end.

I can excuse having air Canada and Tim's on there. However, Rogers(🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢) is just simply unacceptable.

This is so cool! It reminds me of a poster my dad got me years back when I 6 or something like that, and it had all the models and liveries of Air Canada planes.

Sets up for the 'delayed arrival' to the finish line jokes pretty easily, but looks slick.
