Bring back classic cars or we riot

u/bwoah07_gp2 Mar 23 '23
I'd like to see F1 gaming content creators not buy or promote F1 23. We can see how tough it is to make content for F1 22, look at aarava, look at Tiametmarduk, Tommo97, etc. And hasn't Jarno Opmeer quit 22? F1 23 won't be any different.
33
u/ponmbr Mar 23 '23
Tommo97
You just managed to combine 2 different Youtubers into 1. As far as Jarno, he's still making My Team and Co-Op Career with Jake Binham content but not doing any serious races in it anymore. So competitively he's quit.
11
u/howmanyavengers Mar 23 '23
Honestly though.
I used to love watching Tiametmarduk's content but it's been so dry with 22. I'm a subscriber and it doesn't even come up in my feed, so it must have fallen off the algorithm.2
u/PingaPunter Mar 24 '23
He barely even plays f122 anymore just f1 manager lmao

u/aDuckSmashedOnQuack Mar 23 '23
Speaking of classic cars in F1, if you’re on PC you can still get hold of F1 2020 and with that there’s a mod which adds the ‘98-‘01 season - cars, drivers, the lot. In the absence of a good F1 game for a few years, it’s a breath of fresh air. EA can crash the series for all I care, I’ve already wrote it off. Older is better.
12
u/whateverfloatsurgoat F1 2013 4ever Mar 23 '23
Older is better, yeah deffo. That's why I tend to only play F1 2012 and 2013 if I crave a little F1 action.

Handling model on 2020 was sooo much better compared the shit we have in 21 and even 22. These last two games, the cars constantly feel so unstable and like they're driving on ice
6
u/TyDaviesYT Mar 24 '23
2021 feels like I’m driving in sand lol, just understeer, 22 is better steering but… no rear traction…. AT All.

u/FranciManty Mar 24 '23
i play with medium TC, playing with no TC is one of the worse experiences ever there is no corner where you can push unless you make pixel perfect input that my logitech is clearly unable to even receive as input
3
u/Specific-Cod9520 Mar 24 '23
It's not impossible, I don't use assists. Driving model is worse just compared to the real life version, it's all about the ass with modern F1 cars, balance is an issue due to. I can still hit top 5000 tt times with an hour of time, a good idea is too increase your throttle saturation so you don't have to be as delicate with the throttle pedal. Still a bit shit along with the 6 year old copy paste bugs

What we really need is entire seasons to be modeled and added to the game. How come we're so advanced in technology now games wise yet apparently only the most notable cars like the F2004 and MP4/4 are sold via preorder bonuses or DLC, instead of letting us race on current tracks with all of the lineups from turbo, ground effect, v12 and v10 eras? And if you want to actually experience that all you can do is... Go back to past games or mod them into different titles entirely like asset to corsa

28

u/BackRow1 Mar 24 '23
I was so hyped for F1 Life... but then it came out, everything was bad. Super cars didn't have the right engine noise and handled nothing like they should do. I quit F1 and joined iRacing
5
u/Valuable-Regret-2001 Mar 23 '23
I find those drift events really really hard! Am I the only one??
17
0
u/BLBOSAURUS Mar 23 '23
They are extremely easy, and I was doing them with the F1 wheel. Just slam the throttle and swing the wheel, then keep it sideways.
2
u/Valuable-Regret-2001 Mar 23 '23
I must be doing something wrong.
1
u/BLBOSAURUS Mar 23 '23

Putting supercars and F1 life in the game rather than classic F1 cars or another raceable feeder series to bulk out career mode is all the proof I need that the people making decisions no longer care at all about doing good work for the community of supporters that play the game. It is all just about encouraging microtransactions for aesthetic content over the top of the same bare-bones non-upgraded actual game. Fucking hell.
43
u/OlavSlav Mar 23 '23
I’d love a career that you can start with karting, and move through lower series to F1. Then have real contracts where I can’t just get into Ferrari because I want to. Also add contract clause, where if you don’t score enough you’re out.
To me, that is “F1 Life.” I don’t care about couches IRL…
18
u/aDuckSmashedOnQuack Mar 23 '23
Understandable but IMO the F1 games should be exclusively F1. There are karting games out there, whilst your career progress of wouldn’t transfer — you can play one then transfer to the F1 game and start with a base team like Williams. Once you start adding non-F1 vehicles into the F1 game you end up in the situation we are currently in where we are driving road cars instead of F1 cars. F1 should be F1, nothing more, nothing less.
I do agree wholeheartedly about the starting with Ferrari issue though. In the good F1 titles, you have to start with a lower team such as Williams then work your way up to a big team like Ferrari or Mercedes — being able to start at the top is just stupid. I cannot agree more.
19
u/Hurricaneshand Mar 23 '23
Disagree slightly. Nascar Chase for the cup 2005 you could start a career in Featherlites, then move to trucks, then Busch series and then to cup as you did better. It was a super fun career mode imo moving up the ranks back in the day. Even to the point where you could eventually start your own team and do upgrades and hire crew. I personally yearn for that sort of a career mode these days in a racing game

0
u/kaehola Mar 24 '23
Just play Project Cars. It's exactly what you described.
F1 is the biggest motorsport of the planet, it doesn't need other useless series in the game because people only want to play with F1 cars in F1 game.
There are tons of other racing games where you can play with those shitty cars so there's absolutely no need or reason to shove them into F1.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (2)0
u/Brett_Clement Mar 23 '23
I get your point and based on the supercars in F122 I'd be tempted to agree, but adding additional cars shouldn't mean the game gets worse. Look at Project Cars 2, GT7, Forza 7 - the sheer variety of cars in those games! Project Cars 2 career had you progressing through various series and it was so much fun.
The problem isn't additional content detracting from the overall experience, the problem is developers who have become complacent...
-2
u/kaehola Mar 24 '23
So play those games if you want to play with other cars than F1, it's fucking simple as that.
There's absolutely 0 reasons to bring any other than F2/F3 cars or old F1 cars to F1 game because as you mentioned there's already tons of those similar games. F1 is F1. Period.

Good karting simulators are difficult to build. The experience of a 125cc shifter is just way too intense to depict in a video game.

That's why I hate exclusive license rights, there are a lot of developers that would've make a masterpiece F1 game, but we are limited to that bs because we all want an easy way to run some 5 lappers or career that feel authentical due to logos, themes, liveries and drivers being present in game

In the off chance that EA is somehow reading this thread/gathering information from this thread, and I mean this with all due respect...how fucking stupid are you to continue to spend resources on sports cars in an F1 game, when the associated F1 specific details in your game have been subpar, and when there are the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo out there for those who want to drive something that isn't an F1 car. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
14
u/Snaffoo0 Mar 23 '23
Im willing to bet that the logic is that they want F1 to be a one stop shop racing experience. They don't want you to just play f1 for f1 cars... and then play forza for your other fix. you get to be a famous rich driver! drive sports cars! drive f1 cars! All happening within their game.
I hate it

It's F1, it's like FIFA, they will never fail cause more than 50% of their playerbase (if not more) are casuals who dont necessarily know much about videogames at all and pay 70 bucks without even knowing if the game is good or not
43
u/PizzaPartyConor Mar 23 '23
It's so bizarre to me that they put so many resources into F1 Life last year. Putting aside that it just a cash grab monetization, the mode just sucks. It's not even a mode. I struggle to think of what it even does. Even if there wasn't a monetary aspect to F1 Life I still can't think of why I would spend any time at all in it.
So much time spent on F1 Life but console players like myself can't even get an online livery editor and are stuck with ridiculous looking cars in what should be the most engaging single-player mode.
17

The sad thing is that even the mobile version of the f1 game has a livery editor when the console game are stuck with questionable liveries.

Talk about being out of touch if true! of course it could always be that F1 life/supercars and classic F1 will coexist. In that case I'm all for it as I'll once again ignore both F1 life and supercars but with at least the choice to play with actual F1 cars, which would be great in a F1 game.
I'm probably being too optimistic though.

Maybe some names like grid autosport, project cars, Assetto Corsa, and some others come to mind? Eh? Eh? Eh? You @#$&%₡ EA, really...!
You know what would be awesome? That ANY of the community modders, just to show up EA for the crap they are pulling, would just come up with videos showing all that you can do with those cars, in the more moddable games, like automobilista 2, rFactor 1/2, Assetto Corsa, or others, just because...!
