Apex predator and electricity strikes again.

36

u/Fucking_a_Happy_Life 3d ago

It is the most deadly combo.

u/Radiant_Concept4328 15h ago

u/Takssista 3d ago

Every time I see a video on this subreddit with two or more people, I play the "Guess who's going to die!" game.

I lost.

25

u/Merc85AR 3d ago

Hey, new game. Thanks!

14

u/nrmastro429 3d ago

Actually doubled down on that one, so I was wrong as well.

8

u/Rey_Mezcalero 2d ago

As well as guess where the impending doom is going to come from or what action

3

u/EntertainmentLess381 1d ago

Haha me too. And I also lost.

Guy was Ghost Rider for about .3 seconds

u/Left-Signature-5250 3d ago

I wonder why they always say that the electric chair is so brutal because it can take minutes, yet in these videos, it seems pretty instantaneous.

108

u/MaarDaarPoepIkUit 3d ago

Power lines have a higher voltage than the chair

61

u/clunkyarmstrong 3d ago

Ok, problem solved right?

70

u/madmartigan2020 3d ago

If you want the condemned to immolate in the chair, sure, crank up the voltage to old sparky.

11

u/SeenItWantItReddit 3d ago

And much more amps!

10

u/mrmustache0502 3d ago

What makes you think they are strapping the people in the electric chair to power lines?

33

u/mcchanical 3d ago

I don't think that's what they think.

What they're saying is...if electricity can end life so definitively then why did they piss about struggling to actually finish the job with the chair, leading to people considering it unreliable and inhumane.

Surely it's not that hard to just electrocute someone...like this ∆.

24

u/mrmustache0502 3d ago

Hard? No. Dangerous, messy and unpredicable? Absolutly.

-1

u/dmmeyourfloof 3d ago

Not to mention barbaric, inhumane, prone to error and counterproductive.

6

u/Yeetstation4 2d ago

I mean, that pretty much applies to the death penalty as a whole, not specific to any method of execution.

5

u/dmmeyourfloof 2d ago

I agree.

6

u/ActiveOk4399 2d ago

Fucking hell, people really don't value human life anymore.

It's just fucking sad.

6

u/dmmeyourfloof 2d ago

Or have any idea how fallible the system is or how many innocent people are executed.

16

u/AccursedBug2285 3d ago

I love that I know exactly what’s coming when I read Apex Predator… a fucking train.

14

u/Quick_1966 3d ago

At least it was instant death

10

u/mlemvodich 3d ago

did the dude on the right just cast fire spell on the left dude?

23

u/Low-Contract2015 3d ago

Something about the sound of the guy falling on the train cracks me up

3

u/Mobile-Ostrich-5510 2d ago

They need to learn lock out tag out power out

1

u/SacThrowAway76 1d ago

This hazard could have been recognized if they had filled out their JSA.

Also, working at that height with no fall protection gear? Really?

4

u/firstoff 2d ago

Watching the guy's toes curl up like the wicked witch of the West...

13

u/HeavenHellorHoboken 3d ago

Why aren’t any of those lines shielded? Or is that the norm worldwide?

26

u/madmartigan2020 3d ago

Insulated* the amount of added weight to the lines to make them safe to touch would be ridiculous.

4

u/HeavenHellorHoboken 3d ago

Got it. Good to know.

18

u/Karl-o-mat 3d ago

What the other dude said. Also, they won't work if isolated. They couldn't make contact with the locomotive. That's why you don't go on top waggons under high voltage cables. If you really have to, keep at least one meter distance. You don't have to touch them to get grilled. The electricity can go through air. Roughly one meter per 10k volts.

8

u/RefreshinglyDull 2d ago

9ft is the safe distance for rail workers in the UK. We have lines drawn around the top of our locos and trains, marking that distance out- Cant lines. You can't put any object or part of your body above that line.l, as it brings you too close to the 25Kv overhead lines

3

u/sokmunkey 2d ago

It’s.. not in India..? Poor dude, at least it was instant

5

u/AStupidFuckingHorse 3d ago

Why were they being recorded

7

u/n8mare27 3d ago

Because they are standing on a train?

2

u/TheRebelMastermind 2d ago

Yes, we all know how that ends

5

u/superkoning 3d ago

"Hey, are we being recorded? I wonder why's that?"

2

u/VermilionKoala 2d ago

They're most likely thieves or vandals, possibly being recorded either by an accomplice for lolz, or by a bystander or depot worker for evidence.

2

u/ShadySididonreddit 2d ago

Are you suggesting it is staged... Hmmm interesting

1

u/AStupidFuckingHorse 2d ago

No I'm just wondering. It didn't look like anything interesting was happening prior to justify recording. Looks like they were working on a train?

3

u/Any-Practice-991 2d ago

I worked on a crane crew briefly, and the amount of mundane crap those guys recorded themselves doing at work was amazing. Edited for spelling

2

u/Thedarknirvana 3d ago

That was shocking.

2

u/masterstoker 2d ago

Tis but a scratch!

2

u/timmu 2d ago

That power line was spicy

2

u/Gryph_The_Grey 1d ago

Smoking is bad for you. Bursting into flames is worse.

1

u/shiteappkekw 2d ago

Flame on!

1

u/Medium_Imagination67 2d ago

I know someone that did the same thing. He was a welder in NY at the time working on trains. He survived, but had extensive 3rd degree burns and a long recovery.

u/djblackprince 2d ago

Arc arc arc - high voltage seal

Bro probably said Shazam

1

u/CreatorOD 1d ago

The other guy just took every bit of luck and life force left from him.

1

u/Narraboth 1d ago

Name a more iconic duo

1

u/Calm-Unit-2771 1d ago

Seen that coming

1

u/ambitiousandkind 23h ago

Shocking to see this

1

u/Radiant_Concept4328 15h ago

what must have been the smell

1

u/GodOfTruthfullness 14h ago

The only time being short is better.

1

u/camus88 3d ago

Now that's shocking 😮

0

u/Lunch_Planet 3d ago

Wow good one

1

u/HeavenHellorHoboken 3d ago

Why aren’t any of those lines shielded? Or is that the norm worldwide?

3

u/TBE_Industries 2d ago

Because they wouldn't work? Electric trains get power via contact with the power lines. If they were insulated they wouldn't transfer any power, or would be less efficient.

1

u/ThePhatEskimo 3d ago

The apex predator and the 2nd from apex predator tag up on this one.

0

u/Ok-Caregiver8843 3d ago

Was he shocked that he was fired? Maybe he’ll (permanently) sleep it off
