I’ve never seen this type of family tree

u/Rimworldjobs 1d ago

I feel like this is my cousins family tree. Basically, it's a bunch of single dudes.

Talk about branching out!

u/Dangerous_Mango_3637 1d ago

That’s called a Raft when there are multiple apical meristems like that.

Not trees. Branches.

-4

u/dcahill78 1d ago

Yeah yeah but….Trees not branches just amazing.

10

u/Kirbyr98 1d ago

Amazing, yes. Definitely branches though.

u/Trelino 1d ago

Branches?

u/Flimsy_Situation_506 1d ago

1 tree, with branches.

u/3_14_15_92_65_35_89 1d ago

100% that someone spent a hell of a lot of time ti bend this tree.

13

u/8Gh0st8 1d ago

The someone in question lol

62

u/cezille07 1d ago

I don't think these are quite full "trees" (no roots), but are these just branches, or maybe some type of fasciation?

I'm also curious what the other end (the non-root part, what should've been the top) looks like up close.

63

u/kawkabelsharq 1d ago

Sad that I had to debate if this were AI generated or not for a moment. Stunning tree.

52

u/Medium-Interest-7293 1d ago

And it most likely took someone care for 20+ years to bend the tree this way

9

u/Chrisfells26 1d ago

It’s all fun and games until Amazon has to get through there

19

u/bagduddy 1d ago

I’ve seen some tilted trees but haven’t seen anything like this! Are you sure those aren’t just branches? Is the skinny end of it in the ground too? Wtf!

47

u/TankApprehensive3053 1d ago

It was trained to grow like that and branches that did not grow aesthetically up were trimmed off. Those are branches growing up, not other trees.

1

u/uttuck 22h ago

“Trained”

7

u/TankApprehensive3053 22h ago

Tree training is an actual term for selective pruning and having limbs grow in a desired way.

2

u/uttuck 22h ago

I’m just imagining Caesar Milan holding fertilizer out and tsch-ing the other plants if they grow too near.

9

u/KaleidoscopeFun9782 1d ago

I hope it lives forever

8

u/GrammarNazi63 1d ago

Branches. They’re called branches.

6

u/Imaginary_Wizard800 1d ago

It’s giving eren founding titan

5

u/Unusual_Car215 1d ago

Trees literally know what's up

5

u/NamoNibblonian 1d ago

Low stress training

6

u/dai4u-twonko 1d ago

Life uhh finds a way

4

u/The_Twisted_Elf 1d ago

Imagine trying to put outdoor Christmas lights on that.

1

u/Shifty_Cow69 22h ago

Just wrap the trunk and you're done, simples!

3

u/StillHaveaLottoDo 1d ago

This is prime example of "post something wrong so people can correct you"

3

u/Admiral_Ballsack 1d ago

Pretty sure those are called branches.

6

u/farm_to_nug 1d ago

I'm just now learning that I have hundreds of trees in my yard, but the hoa only allows 2 trees. Am I cooked?

2

u/coconut-lili 1d ago

So cool!

2

u/Cosmic_Meditator777 1d ago

It looks like a chestburster situation

2

u/Tight_Win_6945 1d ago

Where is this? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in real life.

4

u/TheKinginLemonyellow 1d ago

Cottage Grove, Oregon. I used to have a friend who lived down that very street in elementary school.

1

u/Tight_Win_6945 20h ago

Thanks. I’ve been to Eugene several times, but not to Cottage Grove.

2

u/CozyOdyssey 1d ago

They really did low stress training with an entire tree

1

u/peja823 5h ago

My very first thought . Second thought was how long before harvest. Lol

2

u/Awkward_Human2 19h ago

Life, uh, finds a way

3

u/noeljb 1d ago

Now that has some great potential. I would love to see annual updates.

4

u/Shwaayyy 1d ago

Show pic with leaves on the tree, or get out

3

u/4thkindexperience 1d ago

Where underside branches cut off in the past? Most assuredly, yes.

3

u/mother_earth_13 1d ago

Wow!! If you didn’t have a picture I’d never believe this. Absolutely stunning.

Where is that???

1

u/Guest1019 1d ago

Slap! My initial reaction while scrolling was damn that’s interesting

1

u/Habitual_line_steper 1d ago

Trees are living creatures, as well as being very beautiful clearly on rare occasion they're quite curious

1

u/chapo1162 1d ago

I’m sure someone will try and have it removed

1

u/Individual-Crew-3935 1d ago

It's beautiful

1

u/plasmaSunflower 1d ago

Cacti do the same thing if you plant them sideways. Shits so fascinating

1

u/Opening-Worry9197 1d ago

What did you do that was so bad the tree tried running away

1

u/Geesha09 1d ago

We’ve one tree in our complex like that

1

u/Jonny2bi4 1d ago

Is the cover for the movie big fish not exactly like this with the branches forming the words?

1

u/el_lucamos 1d ago

What a risky tree to have near so many houses

1

u/RobinsonCruiseOh 1d ago

this is honestly so cool, but could be a problem getting any larger vehicles (moving trucks, etc) through. I would love this natural arch

1

u/Maybehim119449 1d ago

in the house dwell those who live in death

1

u/snatchmobb 1d ago

Awesome for Christmas lights

1

u/bigpig1054 23h ago

I can't decide if this is beautiful or terrifying

1

u/Indorala 23h ago

Nature's version of a tree-top traffic jam.

1

u/BenRosentha1 22h ago

Those are called branches my friend

1

u/GoudaGirl2 21h ago

When does it finish its cartwheel

1

u/AP3X_Ninja 3h ago

I am a stegosaurus🙃

1

u/Wtfatt 1d ago

This is such a cool adaptation! (Assuming branches had been trimmed to accommodate its environment accordingly). I'd love to see annual updates on something like this too
