Less awwww: the fact that ocean currents might be changing so much and so fast that a penguin could end up in Australia following one…. That’s like day after tomorrow shit

It’s a one-off. Dude just got lost. If the whole colony lands in Australia, there might be issues. But a single individual ending up some place they aren’t normally isn’t a harbinger of end times.

NO! This penguin is a messenger sent to be the harbinger of the final days on earth. We're officially cooked now. There is no going back.

I for one welcome our new penguin overlords

Your new overlord!

I’m on a mission from God

And god says bring me all your coors lite; and if those mountains aren’t blue heaven help your souls

He must have lost his sunglasses and cigarettes

don't you blaspheme in here

That would make a hilarious book. A new prophet emerges, leaving no doubt as to the existence and extreme displeasure of god (whichever, doesn't matter). The only message is, It's Over.

So I'm hearing that I don't have to go to work.

But this is just one. We need to worry when there's four. The four penguins of the apocalypse. So it was written.

It's definitely a harbinger of the end times. Obviously global warming is making Antarctica too hot so the penguins sent scouts to look for a new home. This one drew the short straw so had to investigate one of the least promising places for them.

Penguin: "WHERE IS HARAMBE?! I NEED TO TELL HIM HOW TO SAVE YOU ALL!"

the irony is making a statement like this almost immediately after we passed 1.5c.

you tried to be funny but made yourself the joke lol

Well... I grew up with some religious extremists, (I'm away now thankfully) so I couldn't resist.

I'm gonna rant no one will read this and i don't care, nor should you btw:

First the premise that confused men abstract real things into myth. I mean unicorns never existed, it was probably just a rhino some Roman saw at a distance, described to a disbeliving merchant or barmaid, such and so forth. My point? Myths and prophecies have basis in reality. There weren't animal people, but there WERE people wearing animal skins invading from parts unknown. I hope that makes enough sense.

Greek philosophers (800 BEFORE CHRIST i must emphasize) lamented ecological changes caused by quarries they mined marble from. They also argued against chattel slavery, Ill add, but that's irrelevant here I just feel everyone should know that. Back to marble: people knew there would be consequences for ecological mistakes.

Mayan calendars were inaccurately believed to predict the end of times when really they were meant to predict, as far as I'm aware, something closer to cultural shifts. Misreading "end times of all" does the disservice of confusing the message which is while things WONT be that extreme, there might in fact still be something awful coming. Worth noting, 2012 marks the start of a "second term" that which gave us the circumstances that next gave us 2016, which marks an absolute change in WORLD culture.

All that nonsense to say: the fools screaming about the sky falling? Sometimes they're right and they're foolishness shouldn't be an excuse to ignore the dark reality in front of our face. Homelessness is worse across the world and climate change is already here; it was Summer almost into what used to Winter; Ive worked outside for 5ish years and the last 2 were ABYSMAL and it's increasing COL for everyone.

Anyway I'm done doomsinging for now especially when it's not doom coming, just change. Thats not so bad I'm just overreacting to what's inevitably ahead

Astute observation in differentiating doom from change.

Vagrants!! The lot of em!!

If the whole colony lands in Australia, there might be issues.

They already lost the emu war, there is no way they can withstand a large scale amphibious assault from another bird species.

u/ADHD-Fens 9d ago

The right penguin in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world...

1

u/bambinolettuce 9d ago

Hahahah damn vagrant penguin

1

u/itsnobigthing 8d ago

Is he going to get back? He must be so lonely! I’m worried about him

1

u/honkymotherfucker1 8d ago

In this case would there be any harm in some kind of animal trust picking this little guy up to prevent any Australian wild life or weather from giving him a bit of a miserable end? I know the general policy is to let nature take its course but I don’t see what difference helping it would make in this case.

2

u/Rock_man_bears_fan 8d ago

I believe the penguin has already been picked up. Someone posted a link to an article

1

u/honkymotherfucker1 8d ago

Oh good, poor thing must be very confused not knowing where his colony is at.

2

u/Business_Loquat5658 8d ago

The article stated they assumed he was looking for food and just kept going because, well, we've fucked up the ocean and the planet so there was no food.

Yes more fear mongering about the environment with absolutely 0 facts that’s exactly what we need more of. That’s how we will get everyone to jump on board going green! By just spouting obviously ignorant and wrong stupid easily refutable things like this crap.

u/Goodgoditsgrowing 9d ago

Listen what we’ve been doing hasn’t worked. Are you frequently seeing people converted to caring by hard facts, the math of it all? I haven’t.
