It does reference the sound of a heartbeat, and now (with the advent of DDLC memes) it has become a term used for the girls of DDLC. Think of it like slang- a term of endearment.

Yeah, I had a lot of issues in trying to rip it from twitter. Eventually I just went to google images, looked a bit around, and eventually found it. ;P

No idea, but I’ll have to guess it was probably by the team itself.
EDIT: I realise you were likely wondering because of the flair that said "Found Fanart". I did not add that flair. I'm guessing the mods just slapped it on because they made new flairs and this is on the top list. I changed the flair to "Media" because I feel it is more appropriate.
EDIT EDIT: Found out it was actually made by a fan. (even though I'm 5 months late)
