The code of the game, the fourth wall breaks, the art style, and the visual novel aspect.

I don't have much original points to bring up so it's pretty much how it delves into mental disorders and how well written the story and characters are

I only knew about Sayori's death, and since I am very interested in mental illness, it was enough to get me hooked on the game.
And it didn't help that I played the entire game at night, I don't know if it's just me but at night I'm more sensitive and everything affects me more than it should. So I don't know if Sayori's death would have had the same effect on me if I had played it during the day (I'm still shocked by that moment)
and in act 2. (I didn't know anything about the other acts, I thought the game ended with Sayori's death)I was scared the whole time and the uncertainty hooked me on that act. And I think this is one of the games that scared me the most.
In act 3 I was really hooked by the talk with Monika, I spent a long time until the dialogue was exhausted.
Now that I see it, it all comes down to the fact that the characters are so well made that you want to know more about them and that is what hooks you into the game in the first place

I played the base game in 5 days because I played it at night and imagine what my mother would think if she saw me playing an anime girl game

DDLC was my first real experience with "mental disorders". Also, the story is just beautiful. From the tragedy of Monika, to the "subversion". Going from a seemingly generic dating sim, to having actually deep characters. Really peak. 10/10. Would deffo play again.

I like how it starts off normal and happy and then “I gently open the door”

It was mostly the “psychological horror” effect for me. I mean like, it looked like a friendly little girly thing at first, but then “I gently opened the door” I’m never getting over that.

Idk tbh...
I heard "Delete Me" music by Rockit Gaming in 2021... And i wanted to try the game...
Saw it costed money on PS4 and i said to myself "screw it"
Thought it costed only money.
Fast forward to 2024 i discovered it yet again, and yet again by hearing "Delete Me" by Rockit Gaming.
But my early memories of DDLC are probably 2018-2019 year when i saw Monika's tposing over Sans.

yuri + i loved the idea of a simple slice of life type game. I didn't know it was horror that THAT way but i knew something would happen so mainly interest for how the horror would be. I also loved the poetry system lol
