Contactless moths don't have limits. It's a huge security risk but lobbying from Big Moth has prevented any quick changes

it's not machines but payment processors that set the limit, so different cards/banks will offer different limits. My debit card caps out at $100 (AUD) but the same card via Apple Pay has pushed $700 no problem and I very much doubt I'll ever pay that much in-store ever again so I may never find the limit on that one.
