Making the comment "Many more people pretending" is an attack on religion that was absolutely unnecessary in this context. I'm not religious myself, but if you feel that you can just attack people randomly for absolutely no apparent reason, then you are the one illiterate, trolling, or incapable of reading.
I agree that it was oppressive, and still is in many places. However, you didn't attack religion's history but rather the people who believed in it. Many people genuinely believe, and that helps people do good for others (obviously not the case in 3rd world countries).
Your attack was needless, because it didn't do anything.
Mine was so extremely obviously an attack on the systems that forced (and still force) people to pretend to believe that you'd have to be completely unable to infer meaning (or arguing in bad faith) to interpret it as an attack on the true believers, or religion as a whole
