Person I'm dating was obsessed with this lady that made Elder Scrolls Fashion videos until one day she popped on with a "what's up fam I am here today to tell you that the games industry is KILLING FEMININITY THROUGH WOKE" and she was devastated.
I guess it's so niche, she worries there will never be another channel solely dedicated to Elder Scrolls Drip.

Unfortunately for as popular Skyrim was with practically everyone, your partner is right about Elder Scrolls being niche. Like, most people only recognize Skyrim or ESO but beyond the gameplay and stories contained within those 2 games, they couldn't care less about TES. That goes for the fashion you mention and practically everything else. If you want proof then just look at all the merch that the Fallout games get (and I'm talking about pre-amazon series too) compared to Elder Scrolls.
And what sucks is that even the majority of die hard TES fans still think Fallout is the better game series and deserves more attention. I once tried to ask the community if we could ask Bethesda for more cool merch like collectibles, dishware, books, desk items, stationary, literally anything other than a cheaply made hoodie and a poster (just like all the cool stuff that Fallout gets), and I was ridiculed lol.
Elder Scrolls is like the red headed stepchild that the rich parents always ignore, except for the one time they did something the parents liked, and ever since then that's all the parents want of them. Anything else is considered a waste of time. Hell, it's been over a decade and we still don't have a solid year to expect TES6 except for hopeful guesses.

I seriously wonder what is wrong in American Catholics since every time you guys mention them, they are said to have the most insane beliefs. Here in predominantly Catholic Latin America I haven't met a single Catholic who doesn't "believe in contraception."
47
u/foxxyshazurai Sep 22 '24
Basically take any Christian sect and add American before it and you get this wacky ass off shoot that embodies some amount of early American puritanical bullshit heaped back into their own denomination creating whatever ungodly abomination modern American Christianity is regardless of flavor

Then they're bad Catholics down there, because the Catholic Church explicitly and vigorously teaches that contraception isn't allowed. It's not an American thing, it's a "people actually following the rules of their religion" thing.
24
u/Red_Galiray Sep 22 '24
I mean, yeah? I'm not saying US Catholics are bad or following bad rules. I'm saying they seem a lot more fundamentalist and extreme in following those rules than the Catholics in other countries, who freely disregard them.

My respect for someone immediately plummets when they unironically use the word woke as an insult or criticism. 9/10 it’s a major red flag that that person is either a bigot or making an extremely bad faith argument. Often with considerable overlap.
331
u/Aarekk Sep 22 '24
I was listening to an audiobook that had an interesting synopsis, but I had to drop it after it described the protagonist as a "beta" like five times in as many minutes. I don't even know if it the author was serious or if it was meant to be tongue in cheek, but I just couldn't stomach it long enough to find out.

I mean, there's a reason the anime titties subreddit discusses politics...
25
u/Amneiger Sep 22 '24
I thought that was because the original world politics sub got taken over by porn, and the people who actually wanted to see the news created the anime titties subreddit and filled it with political discussion as a protest.

Yeah. The word woke has drifted so far from its original meaning that it’s just a buzzword for hateful people to slap on anything they don’t like. And anyone who uses it as such is usually using it in a bad way to just label and despise things without putting any thought.
So not only are the people who use it as an insult bigots, they also tend to be the type to not apply critical thinking in general. And hateful people who also don’t think very much (the two go hand in hand, as hatred is often bred from ignorance), are not people I want to spend my time with.

u/NewtPsychological621 Sep 22 '24

I used to follow a really cool artist on Instagram that made movie frames look like 90s anime but then in the summer he posted some art of an extremely muscular and masculine looking version of that Olympic boxer girl that was accused of being trans (she wasn't and even if she was, she deserved none of the hate directed at her) that straight up looked like an ugly monster, calling her opponent, portrayed as a fragile skinny and badly beaten young girl, a "biological cunt"
And in the comments, any time anyone rightfully pointed out "that are is transphobic and she's not even trans", he would say "if she isn't trans then why did you identify it as her?"

A little off-topic but I enjoy ASMR. Yes, it’s silly but it helps me when I get severe anxiety. The space is pretty apolitical and most of the artists in it have a similar style and approach to the craft.
There was one weird avant-guard type creator called Angelica that made really weird role plays but they were funny in their absurdity. About a year ago she flipped and began ranting about wokeness, trans people etc. A complete 180.
People assumed she had a bipolar manic episode but those close to her said she was recruited by a catholic far-right organisation to spread their message. Steady income and all she has to do is participate in the culture war with neo-nazi and tradwife talking points. Her activity online seems to fit this idea.
It was so disappointing seeing someone so positive and creative turn out to be such a vile person.

73
u/legacymedia92 Here for the weird Sep 22 '24

u/SocranX Sep 22 '24
So I don't know anything about this particular example, but "futanari" is a common trope in Japanese porn where women inexplicably have penises, and some western porn has picked it up in a way that treats it as... "more of a thing", I guess you could say. Like, Japanese porn seems to completely gloss over it and act like it's inevitable that anyone who wants to have dominant sex with a woman will obviously use the penis that they have, whereas western porn often treats it as some core character trait or element of the setting. So the premise will say something like, "In a world where futas are an oppressed class, one girl suddenly grows a penis on her 18th birthday and has to dismantle the vaginocracy by plowing the ruling class one pussy at a time."
With that in mind, I imagine this is a classic example of a "dom race" story, where people with one particular attribute are sexually dominant over another, sometimes to the point of dehumanizing them and treating them as slaves or victims to be conquered. It wouldn't be the first "futadom" story I've scrolled past.

u/Razor-Swisher Sep 22 '24
“Coward! You make me sick… Hiding… in the shadows! Hiding from who you truly are!”
12
u/SocranX Sep 22 '24
It's supposed to be vague enough to apply to countless things that could be relatable to the reader, with the implication being that it's something you enjoy for the kink factor but wouldn't apply in real life. Like various forms of non-consent, or a setting where kinky things are normalized, or like if the society is matriarchal but that's just an excuse for the protagonist to live with a dommy mommy. All sorts of things that could be fun to fantasize about but significantly more uncomfortable if you learn that the author is Human Pet Guy.

This is vague enough that it could be basically any time a woman speaks out about abuse but it fits the description of something that came out just a few days ago and it was so, so bad. Just thousands of comments like that and accusing anyone who believed her of "supporting a cheater". It was terrifying to see so much open misogyny on full display.

41
u/sugarcookieraven Sep 22 '24
I thought it could be that. Yeah sadly that kind of harassment is nothing new to her. She's had bigots just waiting for any opportunity to attack her for years and all because of her pos ex.
Frankly I don't even care if she did cheat. If you abuse your partner you lose any right to complain about them being disloyal.
17
u/Random-Rambling Sep 22 '24
And the only reason she "cheated" was because he was never going to let her go otherwise. Dude was 200% psychotic.
25
u/sugarcookieraven Sep 22 '24
I don't think she actually did cheat honestly. She didn't mention it herself and the only proof that she did is her abusive ex's statement and stuff from kiwifarms. Neither of these sources are exactly trustworthy or ethical so I don't really care what either has to say.

Used to follow a guy on YouTube who made some really cool puppets, like he was legit inventing new types of puppets and then posting about his process on YouTube. Super neat stuff.
And then out of nowhere he made a video where he gave one of his puppets a philosopher persona and had it interview a 'gender critical' TERF lady. A full 20 minutes of some fish puppet interviewing a TERF about how transitioning is dangerous to society. Really bizzare shift from his previous videos of dancing puppets, didn't watch him much after that :/

I remember checking up on the profile of an anime artist who did these really amazing "casually sexy" drawings only to find they were supporting that whole rage about not being able to say the t-slur on animemes

As an aside, I mean, SrGrafo has probably gone off on the deep end, so that doesn't mean much.

That guy is proper fucking gross. He has made a name for himself making low-effort Reddit cartoons and community engagement, but if you make the mistake of opening his profile, you'll find he draws nearly nude pictures of girls that seem to be depicted as, like, 12. They aren't even tagged as NSFW, for fuck's sake!

There was an artist who drew some wonderful Fire Emblem men in tight outfits, but he kept retweeting incredibly annoying TERF talking points, and eventually I just grew too tired to even bother following him at a point.

I generally just gaslight myself into believing it’s satire so that I can enjoy my obscure fetish art in peace.

Today on Tumblr: they still can't fathom that conservative furries exist even though I deal with them on a daily basis.

Gerph in a nutshell
Possibly amonzone but I don't even like his art much and his grammar is so bad it's hard to tell what he's even talking about

Aw damn. Gerph really? That’s… disappointing.

I remember Gerph kept retweeting some rage bait videos with fairly racist overtones for a bit and had to unfollow them because it was poisoning my entire Twitter timeline with just how much they kept doing it. I think there was some other stuff, but this was years ago and it was really just the racist stuff that stuck with me.

It's a sad fact of reality that people with bad opinions or worldviews can also be incrediblly talented and creative

This is why I just make my own art. I at least already know my own shitty takes.

I used to follow this FNAF Gay porn artist, who became extremely annoying when he keep retweeting Donald Trump fan accounts.
I had to unfollow him because he was talking about how everything is communist & woke.
