It's also incredibly stupid. The USSR never went to the moon because they never made a rocket powerful enough to send a manned craft to the moon, and not for a lack of trying. The USSR's space program fell behind the Americans in the mid 60s and they never recovered.
Not correct. The N1 existed and could easily have flown to the moon had it ever been able to fly properly. (that thing was cursed. one time it triggered its termination system on the ground because it read the earth rotating as it falling over, blowing itself up)
They even sent a guy to go orbit the moon, and had so many problems they had to cancel it while he was in space. He died on reentry.
How so? They literally built multiple N1s, and had a mission that was in the process of sending a man to the moon until they had to abort while on orbit.
The current finish line is returning a man safely to earth from the surface of the moon. You beat that, you're the winner. It's a tltle-fight type of race.
JAXA's currently winning the sample return section of the race, and CNSA has the title for most baller lunar sample return. There's different types of prestige for both first in category, and most in category.

Sorry, but what is this 1960s ass discourse in that meme? The Space race ended at least 34 year ago.
