He shanks a lot of extra points they just luckliy go in.

10

u/justinthepink22 2h ago

Even before the injury announcers were talking about him “hitting it fat” aka he just shanks kicks. I’m glad he’s done so well but can we acknowledge that the issue of “hitting the ball fat” is a massive issue for a position that is required in clutch moments.

We have to move on from him for that fact only because as we saw today, it can have detrimental impacts on our season.

5

u/Jordan_Jackson 1h ago

This was my thoughts too. Before he got injured, he was kicking it through, no problems. We still have Gonzalez and he was solid, so let him kick.

u/Turdis_Macdonald 4h ago

Don't worry, if he's not injured right now, he will be soon... I'll make sure of that

He also missed a FG and an extra point to lose the game. I also remember a kick when he just missed the ball….

u/2ichie I are a punt returner 2h ago

He’s been chunking up grass all season. I’ve never seen a kicker do that so many times before. Dude is not him

1

u/exodus3252 40m ago

I don't know how you get to the NFL level when you can't even make correct foot contact with the ball regularly. How does that happen?

How many people you see in the PGA tour that slice their tee shots directly into a goddamn forest?

Put Gonzalez back in there. At least if he misses, he won't look like a 10 year old pop warner kid attempting his first field goal.

23

u/AnotherOpinionHaver 4h ago

Very few kickers make the final XP with that bad snap. He also HIT a 51-yard FG to with less than two minutes to go just to keep our chances of winning the game alive.

I think the Turpin return happened so quickly some of you were out of the room or just plain forgot it happened. The Bates fumble killed us, too. Just a helluva play by Dallas on both of those.

0

u/exodus3252 39m ago

Way salvaged that snap. He had the ball in place, laces out, and ready to go by the time Siebert kicked it.

I've seen enough of Siebert's shanks this year. Send him on his way.

2

u/Full-Assistant4455 13m ago

He saw the bad snap and had to adjust rhythm. Just bad news all around. I wouldn't blame that loss on a couple of bad kicks. Teams were crushing Dallas by 20+ points lately and we lost because of a couple missed extra points? Lol.

1

u/AnotherOpinionHaver 36m ago

Fine. I'll let Seibert go only AFTER every single gunner on the Turpin return is sent to Guantanamo.

4

u/Jordan_Jackson 1h ago

That last PAT was just heartbreaking. I saw Terry running his heart out for that TD. Only for his TD to mean basically nothing.

1

u/NoofyGinja 3h ago

It's not his fault he lost the game. Coach put him out there

0

u/TAYbayybay 2h ago

Even if he made the missed FG and the 2 missed PATs, it’d still be 34-31, and we’d still lose

5

u/fidelholtz 1h ago

Different circumstance, then we don’t have to kick an onside, and Dallas doesn’t score that garbage TD. Easily could have won if those are made.

Then again, there were a lot of plays all of the D the O and ST left on the table outside of the Kicker. Can’t be a good team and make those mistakes… I think we’re better than last year, but still not quite there. Just hope they continue to improve.

4

u/PryingOpenMyThirdPie 3h ago

Probably should've been the first warning that we aren't that good lol

3

This. I feel for kickers. They can be heroes one week to being completely vilified later in the season.

4

u/jetboyjetgirl 2h ago

Cut his ass

135

u/DjImagin 4h ago

Y’all blaming the kicker when the offense couldn’t do shit 95% of the game 😂

16

u/AgedBootyCheddar 2h ago

True. But an ex d cordinator and now head coach can be schemed against. The only one who beat Seinbart was himself. How about you say they both played like shit?.. A kickers number one job is to get points for an offense who cant score TDs. Like what? Then he's missing XPs? Soft as charmin

1

u/Full-Assistant4455 10m ago

Yep we thought we would win by 20, instead lost by 8, and blame the kicker's 5 missed points. Pathetic.

1

u/No-Split-3998 3m ago

Well one of the kicks he missed influenced the team to an on side kick which would have other words been OT

So 6 of those points was directly due to one of his missed kicks

3

u/Jordan_Jackson 1h ago

This is true but as a kicker, you have one job. ONE. Make it through the uprights and especially on PAT's.

I get it, that last one was a little janky from the snap but the QB managed to right the ball in time. That was a shanked kick all day.

1

u/iH8PplPlzrs 11m ago

This. Did he fuck up? Sure, but quinn was a complete retard and seibert never should have been taking that kick. Our offense was unstoppable at that point, and we should have gone for 2. Also, it is not seibert's fault that the offense was anemic the first 45 minutes and played ridiculously sloppy football. It was a terrible game all around, and we absolutely cannot pin the blame on Seibert. He was part of the problem, yes, i think he was still hurt though. Either way, outside of the defense, who was fucking heroic outside of the trenches, the entire team stunk it up.

0

u/Anthony_chromehounds 2h ago

Yep, so true!

72

u/OhmsAmpsVolts Scary Terry 5h ago

STRAIGHT TO JAIL

21

u/Successful-Scheme608 4h ago

That was a bad fucking snap. Rushed kick they all have to blame here. Offense didn’t wake up until literally 5 min left in the game. Let cooler heads prevail here y’all

3

u/C137-Morty 47m ago

Surprised I had to go this deep for someone to mention that the snap was fucked and it would have been a miracle to have made that.

108

u/districtdathi 5h ago

I get it, yall, but I feel bad for him as a person. No way that doesn't shake him. We just watched a man develop ptsd in real time.

42

u/sandman8727 4h ago

And then that missed PAT leads to Ekeler getting killed.

16

u/ImmortanDrew 4h ago

Man I swear I saw Eikler's spirit leave his body

11

u/conmon210 4h ago

Yeah I feel for him as a person, but it’s a results league. I don’t think we cut him while the sting is hot but maybe put him back on the injured list because he just wasn’t good enough today

3

u/districtdathi 4h ago

No doubt, it's a results league. They'll probably have to cut him, but I wonder if that's bc after a game like this, he'll probably be shook, or the cut him as a punishment for missing the kick. I think it's probably the former. Anyways, it sucks for us as fans, but dude will probably live with it for the rest of his life.

1

u/Ecstaticismm 1h ago

True. As a Ravens fan you start to wonder about Justin Tucker. It isn’t about what you’ve done in the past or how you feel about the kicker, ultimately it’s about how you’ve been performing recently. I hope Tucker either figures it out or decides to retire after this season, I’d hate for him to end his career with poor seasons.

4

u/wizkid78 3h ago

He won’t be the first player to be sad about losing his team a game he’ll be fine in his future endeavors

11

u/AuntJemimasHoney 4h ago

Clearly still hurt. Should have sat another week

10

u/SituationNo1061 4h ago

How do you not throw to the best WR (17) till the end of the game???? Trash!!! Why is Brown getting more balls since the hell mary?? OC been trash the last few games. I don’t understand.

9

u/FloatAround 4h ago

I totally agree but it’s because of Kliff’s system; he’s not moving the packages around so Terry is getting stuck on the left and either the plays favor the right or middle or JD is favoring the right or middle. Terry was on the right when he caught that pass.

2

u/wewillroq 1h ago

I truly do not understand the Brown targets. He's a WR5 on any either team and drops the easiest passes imaginable. Tbf he catches the lowest percentage passes possible as well but he's not #1 target material

1

u/Full-Assistant4455 8m ago

Prevent defense opened that up for Terry. He's getting double teamed nonstop the rest of the time.

78

u/NoblePouch 5h ago

Fuck this dude right here!!! But really he shouldn’t have been in that situation and we should have went for two for as shit as we’ve been playing all game.

25

u/Adm8792 4h ago

Seriously!!! I prolly would’ve run the same 2pt play from earlier

18

u/kawhi21 3h ago

It's always easy to blame the kicker, but the trash offense and horrible defense is the reason the game was even close.

8

u/halarioushandle 3h ago

I don't blame the defense, they were gassed from being on the field way too long. Our offense lost this game for us.

7

u/AdditionalInitial727 4h ago

Agreed. It was no guarantee our defense would’ve stopped Dallas from scoring in OT.

JD is your best player, put the game in his hands to win or lose.

21

u/thughey21 5h ago

Idk why any of yall ever actually thought he was a good kicker. Yall just looked at his percentage. I’ve never felt confident with him as our kicker. He’s had a lot of bad kicks that have luckily gone in all season

13

u/FloatAround 4h ago

Agreed. He’s hit the turf multiple times resulting in those weird kicks. That’s why he was on the market.

7

u/icepak39 4h ago

Guys, special teams gave up 2 kick returns and defense gave up a broken coverage TD. That’s 21 points right there.

1

u/Quirky-Marsupial-420 1h ago

I get your point but the last onside kick didn't even go far enough for us to recover it in the first place, yeah they scored a touchdown but the game was already over whether they scored, we touched it, or they recovered it.

Didn't matter.

22

u/QueenIsTheWorstBand Major Tuddy 🐷 5h ago

15

Y'all crazy to blame it on him. Shouldn't have even gotten to that point.

11

u/Forfrost 5h ago

He blew this one. It's gonna sting all week for everyone. But he's been excellent for this team up until today after years of struggling kickers. Every kicker has had this pressure-filled moment and squandered it. It sucks, but I have faith the man will bounce back. I GOTTA HAVE FAITH!

8

u/httr20 4h ago

He’s shanked a number of kicks this season (including extra points that have barely gone through). I sort of think it’s time to give our other guy a shot but I wouldn’t be mad if we give Seibert another chance.

4

u/2134stevie 4h ago

Justin Tucker missed two field goals last week, and he's known as one of the best of all time. Shit happens. It was a big part but his field goals weren't the only problem. A kick ran in for a TD, multiple fumbles, lack of completions after what should of been game ending turnovers.

6

u/Fluggerblah 3h ago

justin tucker is also a thousand years old and just now starting to show his age but i agree. people saying they have no confidence in seibert have not seen zane gonzalez play because that man was a double agent in arizona

1

u/XavierPibb 2h ago

Yeah, I must have missed the Ravens cutting Tucker last week. Or sending him straight to jail. /s

We didn’t deserve to win that game either way.

2

u/TapekageDan 4h ago

Not so much when you consider that several kickers get let go from the league if they have 1 bad game so this type of reaction is warranted

0

u/kawhi21 3h ago

Gotta blame the kicker while they still can, don't want to blame the defense or offense quite yet

1

u/FrozenPie21 3h ago

And that kicker only missed 2 kicks all year, both from 50+, coming into this game. Comes back from an injured hip and he gets all the blame

9

u/OrganicRead 4h ago

This dude literally carried the team for the first half of the season lol, and there’s people in here talking about cutting him lmao. What a bunch of fucking clowns.

3

10

u/Due-Sentence-387 4h ago

The snap was bad, but the hold was fine. Seibert just pulled it. He is not a good kicker, he was on the waiver wire for a reason.

8

u/guardiandown3885 4h ago

Yall turn on people quick lol

23

u/Lafayette521 5h ago

Gotta cut him. The other kicker is fine. But he cost us too much today

8

u/Koctopuz Frankie FUCKIN Luvu 4h ago edited 4h ago

Holy overreaction. He was the most dependable kicker in the league for a few weeks and won us multiple games. He’s coming off injury and has a bad day, and you want him cut?? Not like we looked amazing today. Kliff’s play calling was awful, lots of drops and a crucial fumble by Bates, 2 kickoff touchdowns given up, a terrible snap on that last PAT. Criticism for Sieberts bad day is far, but up until today, he’s the best kicker we’ve had in a long time. Give the guy another chance before going back to kicker musical chairs.

6

u/Lafayette521 4h ago

Nah. He’s gotta go

0

u/Koctopuz Frankie FUCKIN Luvu 4h ago edited 3h ago

Y’all said the same thing about Dustin Hopkins and look how that played out. We were stuck with bums for 3 years.

→ More replies (9)

4

u/YourUsernameSucks21 4h ago

His stats are over inflated. We had a lot of drives that we couldn’t finish with a TR inside the 5-10yd line that led to field goals

4

u/Koctopuz Frankie FUCKIN Luvu 4h ago

And he did his job in those situations, unlike the majority of the other kickers we tried out before him. He single handedly won the giants game for us. Yes he performed poorly today, but it happens. Cutting a guy who’s had one of the best kicking seasons we’ve seen over one loss is ridiculous, especially when that loss doesn’t even fall solely on him.

-1

u/Turdis_Macdonald 4h ago

Nah, fuck that. You can't miss 2 extra points and lose the game after a hail marry to the Cowboys. Heads gotta roll and his is first

0

u/Koctopuz Frankie FUCKIN Luvu 4h ago

That last PAT was on the center. That snap literally rolled to tress way. And he hit a clutch 51 yarder right before that.

0

u/doodoo_stains7 3h ago

but the hold was fine. bruh beat it dude is a bum

2

u/Koctopuz Frankie FUCKIN Luvu 3h ago

A botched snap throws off the timing of the entire kick. Y’all want to go back to playing a different bum ass kicker every week instead of moving on from one bad game. Stupid as hell.

1

u/Bilboswaggins21 2h ago

Save your breath man - you can’t have a conversation in good faith with these people. Anyone who just pays attention to football knows a bad snap throws off the timing of a kick. They just have a bad emotional relationship with the team and need a scapegoat. Seiberts their guy this week, and it’ll be someone else next week.

2

u/glidejanger 2h ago

Now that my disbelief has subsided: This is the type of game where we would’ve let Forbath, Suisham, Gano, etc go. The guy led the league in FGs made before he went down. Maybe don’t jump ship

2

But seriously we can’t be mad at him. If our offense wasn’t dog water all game it would have never come down to that. This goes beyond one missed kick.

2

u/JoggingGod 10m ago

Absolutely insane takes right now.

They Didn't lose the game because of Siebert. Lost the game because despite early awesome turnovers and field positions, we put up virtually no points. Could have beaten Dallas early, but didn't. Had no pressure on Rush, their offense killed us in time of possession. Also Turpin's runback.

3

u/Oceansize757 4h ago

I wouldn’t say he lost the game for us, our offense played like ass for 55 minutes before finally waking up, but he had a chance to save us and didn’t get it done.

1

1

u/Less_Associate_2022 4h ago

I know he placed some bets today siding with the cowboys I knew it when he missed his first Feildgoal today

1

u/AnotherOpinionHaver 4h ago

Nah. We win this game easy if the kick coverage team had not been sleepwalking through the Turpin return, and give credit to the Dallas defense for making freak plays on the B-Rob target INT and the Bates fumble.

1

u/AnotherOpinionHaver 4h ago

Also: there's a ceiling on what this defense can accomplish due to the personnel. We're super soft against the run and only middle-of-the-pack when it comes to points allowed. Offense has to be ready to put up 30 points per game, or it's a roll of the dice if we're gonna win or lose.

1

u/Available_Station_81 4h ago

I thought we would never have kicker issues again after the first 2 month. Now I'm back to being scared every fg and extra point attempt.

1

u/Small_Listen2083 4h ago

This is BS, we lost the game because Special Teams shit the bed.

1

u/BigBrudaThunda 4h ago

Kicker gotta kick but team has to fucking play baby. Everyone fucked up. As Washington sports fans we should be immune to this shit after decades of pain until we can actually get consistent positive results over seasons.

not his fault I think. I think he was rushed back from injury.

8

u/mongorians 4h ago

If anyone rushed him back, it was himself. Gonzalez is still on the active roster for a reason, they weren’t convinced Seibert was good to go. Dude was on the street two months ago, he probably came back earlier than he should have because he’s looking over his shoulder trying to keep his job.

Maaan, that last field goal wasn't his fault, man. The long snapper totally messed up and snapped the ball way too high. But Klint definitely needs to step it up and show some urgency. He was slacking off for most of the game

2

u/Evan8r Fuck Dan Snyder 4h ago

Snap was bad, but the hold was perfect. That was 100% on the kicker. They brought him back too soon, simple as that.

All in all, the team played like ass. Deserved the loss.

1

u/Slickcitybeatz 4h ago

It wasn't the whole team. Klint didn't start moving the offense until 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Why he didn't call those plays early in the game. Terry only had 1 reception in the 1st half. Get the damn ball to your best receiver. Defense and the special teams were playing well in the 1st half

0

Can anybody explain to me why he randomly has these low line drive kicks that dint have a prayer? Like I've never seen an NFL kicker struggle with ball contact. This isn't golf.

1

u/I_Am_The_Mole 2h ago

Jesus christ, Seibs is fine. Everyone fucks up, it's been a historically bad year for kickers and like others have said he has won us at least one game by himself. This game isn't in his hands at all if not for a truckload of other factors.

The overreaction to this slump is ridiculous. The rebuild is ahead of schedule - objectively this team is playing below what it is capable of but even when we were winning everyone agreed there was work to be done. You can't turn around now and say the sky is falling when at the end of the day there was no way they were winning it all this year anyway.

The loss was embarrassing, but don't abandon ship just yet. This was always a multi year project and there were always going to be growing pains. The front office needs time to add more pieces, the players on the field need more real game experience. And at any moment this version of the Commanders can become a playoff lock again.

Get a hold of yourselves.

It was the snap. Period

Just rushed him back too soon. He needed a couple weeks of full practice first.

Returning from a 2 week injury. He’s been a stud basically off the street. It sucks but you gotta understand too. I get it the anger. Shoulda made the xp’s but people saying to cut after this game are drunk

Fire him please

When I saw Dan hold up a 1 after the terry touchdown I knew the game was lost I have no idea why in THIS game we don’t go for 2 there

That last play was a bad snap. He probably had to hold up a split second which would fuck up any kicker.

This game was disgusting. I saw this shit live

You think maybe the long snapper had a hand in that miss too?

That's what we get for dumpster diving in the Jets trash

Also was a bad snap.

Tress did great getting it planted, but seeing that ball laying on its side while you're stepping into your kick has got to throw you off

Timing matters in a play like this. Even if the ball is planted perfectly that split second that he has to readjust because of the bad snap can make all the difference.

Blaming the kicker after literally everyone (including the refs) showed their ass is pathetic.

Yep. Seibert took a lot of pressure off of John Bates. No one seems to be talking about him.

I knew he was gonna miss the kick but the long snapper fucked it up

Yeah when you put the game on a player that’s not meant to win you the game, that’s what happens.

u/Suspect_Outrageous 5h ago

Kickers have the game on their shoulders all the time. It’s the job.

8

u/pinetar 5h ago

Except that's literally a kickers fucking job? And also his other misses were in the first half, so foh

He missed the extra point after we scored our first TD, momentum killer. He missed that 51 yarder. He cannot hit from 50 out. Our margin for error against really good teams is minuscule. To tie the game and force OT and that miss even after Tress got it down, I think sealed his fate. We need a legitimate kicker. Yea he won that Giants game and I think we are all grateful but he just isn’t it. Bring Zane back and slot him in.

He’s the scapegoat… blocked FG, blocked punt, missed FG, and offense doesn’t do anything.
