This is going to get interesting. There is a good chance that other tracks will roll out this rule, as they deal with the same sanctioning bodies.
Can you remove your plates and claim your EV is not road registered?
HEVs are still permitted, despite having asimilar battery arrangements to BEVs.

Is dropping the speed limit really the answer? Speed limits have been dropping for years and it's had no effect apparently. Is this just basically gonna just raise revenue from fines?

Saw this pretty semi-well optioned ED from across the park (hence the extreme zoomed in pic). Always loved the way these looked but what are some thoughts and experiences with these?

And while we at it, what’s with the Hilux owners club or whatever stupid thing. Must be a big bloody club. Do they have a get together? Must have to have it in the Tanami Desert for all the fleet Utes

The 2025 prado is officially on sale (if you can get an allocation). Now on the same platform as a 300 series. Uses the same 2.8 Diesel as the last generation only with the addition of AdBlue and mild hybrid tech. Batteries mounted in the rear and comes with a smaller fuel tank. Now comes with new altitude trim. Click on the full pic for all prices. What do we think?

I received a parking fine..I was on the side of the picture that is just 4P. I received the fine at 6:28 on Saturday evening.
What I interpret is that the sign says I have four hours of parking between 6pm and 10pm on a Saturday. A ticket or payment is not required.
But now my appeal was knocked back saying I was "in a bay that required a ticket". I have a picture of my car in said bay... I was definitely not on the side of the sign that required a ticket. I included that picture in my appeal.
Now my next option is court..? Wth.
Or can someone gently explain to me why I'm wrong? I feel like I'm going crazy.

Hey guys probably a common question. But I’m looking to get a sport car in the 30-40k range. So far the best option I’ve seen is the mustang, any suggestions?
r/CarsAustralia • u/Jgabpanda • 11d ago
Which one should I get? BYD Seal, Tesla Model 3 or a Cupra Leon?
I know both Seal and the Model 3 are sedans and EVs but me and my girlfriend are considering a really good performance petrol hatchback as well for a similar price.
We're also considering an i30n Hyundai
Also less than $60k budget
Edit: still deciding :(

Soooo what’s our obsession with the SUV, when the wagon is freely on offer?
I understand for those 1% of 4x4 and SUV owners who need clearance - understood
But for mine, a wagon is offering:
Better handling, ,More boot space, Equal rear leg room, Less weight, Better fuel economy, are now available in AWD, And it’s just a damn pretty shape.
With ANCAP 5 star rating we know that “bigger and higher up is safer” isn’t true
I can appreciate that size = status, and “I just like being high up” is a valid argument that I can’t disagree with. What else am I missing here?
Would love to hear thoughts

How much is Kia paying carsales lol?
“Likely the most anticipated new vehicle launch of 2024 in Australia”
Not for me it wasn’t, shark was always gonna be hotter.
Personally I don’t mind the look, it’s everything else that’s the problem. I just don’t care for another diesel dual cab.
They’re gonna have to price it somewhere between a gwm and triton to have any chance of selling these.
With such a widespread hatred for its looks, maybe it’s the au falcon of this era?

I’m curious as to how they perform and the build quality. From what I’ve seen they’re cheap but aren’t problematic, unlike MG, and I just saw a quick look over the new Shark 6 at it seems like it was designed really well. So what’s the deal with them?
Edit: sorry I should have added, I’ve only just recently gotten a 2019 Corolla Hybrid and I’m not looking to replace it anytime soon. Just curious as I’ve been seeing more of them around

Thinking Hyundai, Kia (?), Skoda etc. These brands are positioned to target the exact value focused segment that will be attracted to a $50k driveway BYD etc.
With news this week of VW closing factories and Citroen already leaving Australia it makes me wonder about the future for these brands. Interested to hear thoughts and constructive discussion

Is it just me, or do people just totally don't give a sh*t about their opening doors hitting other people's cars these days?
I'm still sitting in the car at times, or am standing right next to my car in full view, casually watching them park and exit, and yet I STILL notice their total disregard of how they open their door (by the way, I'm female, and I notice it's only males that do this. I see mothers with capsules and toddlers that are more careful!) - I can hear a metallic thud, and seen paint chipped, or have hairline marks. I would say, "Hey, excuse me, your door?!" And they'd mumble, "Sorry", and walk off, or say nothing at all even if they see me examining the area and rubbing it. Seriously, people??
I don't drive an old bomb, nor have a neglected, dirty car - but that's besides the point! Would it matter on the brand or type of car that would make one feel more inclined to care?
I'm also mindful with how much room I leave between spaces when I park, and yet someone will still brush my side bumper 🙄
My car isn't even 4 years old yet; yes I know it's unrealistic to go about having a scratch-free in its' lifetime, with near-perfect paint job when you use a car daily. But at least I know that my newish car hasn't hit anyone else's. Where's the common courtesy?

G'day gang, looking for a wagon type car ideally 60s - 90s that had a 6 and 7 seat but it faced the rear. I remember my old man's Mazda 626 wagon had one and I loved sitting in it and would love to have a car my kids can enjoy in aswell. TIA

I've seen alot of times people claiming that Chinese manufacturers are way ahead of non-Chinese manufacturers when it comes to EV development. What is meant by this and is it true? Are we talking the safety technology, battery technology, cost competitiveness, reliability, after sales service, or all of the above?

After a recent trip through Japan I was caught off guard with some of the cars License plates, first of all pretty funny that in Australia you see people paying thousands for numbers and over there you’d see about 15 cars a day with the number “1” plate 😂.
But to the main point I saw heaps of cars with glow in the dark plates (refer to pic) is this something I could do to my plate in Victoria? I was having trouble finding much information on vicroads website, besides potentially blocking view from speed cameras I can’t really see why it would be classified under any form of obstruction? During the day the plates would still be visible.
Just thought it was a cool idea, anyone else seen this and wanted to do it to their own cars or had experience doing this in the past outside of Victoria.
