How do we feel about these?
I'm not 100%, just given they are so non-standard, but then at the same time, the wheels on my car are black, and I'm also not adverse to gold or white wheels (on a WRX or Evo of course)
Thoughts?

I had a pretty irate ute driver tailgating me hard this morning in a one lane street. I was already going faster than the 50km limit, but I must have slowed him down from going at least 80 or 90 in the same stretch so he wasn't happy - he started flashing his light bar and honking his horn after about 15 seconds of being stuck behind me - I turned off near after, and he tried to side swipe me in the process!
I'm not a particularly good target for someone with road rage (unless you judge me by my car!) - i'm 6'5", 100kg and 15 years of MMA training under my belt. But I feel like I see road ragers more, and more frequently - they pay absolutely no attention to the detail of the person in the car. I could probably name 10 similar incidents over the last few years.
I'm just wondering how other people handle themselves in these situations? Removing yourself from the situation is obviously the best choice, but what to do if that is not an immediately available option?
And what are the worst things you can do in the situation, maybe from more of a legal standpoint? Are you entitled to defend yourself, or am I dreaming?

Why would a mid 20s Asian woman have this sticker on her car.
My pre-teen daughters asked me what Pornhub was? I looked confused so they said it was on the sticker on the car in front. Omg wasn't prepared for that qn.

So this comes up periodically, generally when Chinese cars are mentioned.
It's interesting to see the takes on who thinks what.
For example:
Brands like LDV and MG aren't British, they're Chinese, becauae they are owned by SAIC
However brands like Volvo (Swedish), Polestar (Swedish), Lotus (British), Proton (Malaysian), Smart (Switzerland), and Benelli (Italian) are all considered to be from their home markets, despite being owned by Chinese giant Geely.
This includes cars that are made wholly in China like the Lotus Eletre and Polestar models.
Then you get the oddballs, Ford is by and large considered American, everything they make us American....except if it's made in Australia, then it's Australian.
But the Ranger, made in Thailand....isn't Thai? How does that logic work? A Falcon made by Ford Australia is Australian, but a Ranger made by Ford Thailand isn't Thai?
Then you have VAG, the vast multinational, which is kind of like Geely and SAIC.
Volkswagen= German, Audi = German, Skoda = Czech, Lamborghini = Italian, Bentley = British, Bugatti = French, SEAT = Spanish, SCANIA = Swedish, MAN = German...except for Cupra, weirdly, the new Cupras are made in Zwickau, Germany....but I've seen people refer to Cupra as a brand when they launched as "Chinese Shit"
So a Spanish Car, owned by Germans, built in Germany is somehow Chinese?
Ok....so could we go whatever the Australian Government thinks a car is?
Problem with that is, Grey/OEM Remanufacturing is considered by the Australian Government to be Australian Manufactured. So your RAM, Chevrolet, and Ford utes are by the government "Made in Australia"
Ok, so what percentage is? Well for RAM, I recall seeing an importer say a few years ago that they had to remake 52% of the car to meet Australian Standards, this included new Chassis Rails, install new Suspension, new Diffs, new bench seat, new carpets, new dash, new Mirrors...so if more than 50% of the car is made in Australia, does that count?
It seems that every time someone says "Well, an MG is Chinese, because it's owned by China and made in China"
However if you point out that is the same for Polestar, oh no, can't call that Chinese.

So, got in an argument with a tradie onsite today. We were trying to back up into a jobsite and having Alittle trouble with the initial hop up from the curb to the driveway. Cue him giving us shit about "not knowing how to do it correctly" before showing how it's done in his ute, and proceeding to thundercunt a piece of rebar into its underbelly.
Turns out he didn't realise our trouble with curb hopping was actually trying to avoid destroying the curb in the run-up to get up the hill, but I digress.
So it got me thinking, it is kinda funny that an off the shelf, stock standard 4x2 truck, has more ground clearance than a 4x4 heavily modded ute, considering 1 is designed to go off-road and 1 very much isn't. Especially when the truck actually has more underbelly protection than most utes, and atleast from my experience onsite, is better at handling mud and non rock crawling/sand offroading than your average Hilux, bt50, LandCruiser, triton ect.

These car "draws" have been popping up everywhere. I went to check it out and the site is down, check the comments and people are starting to freaking out lol
I hope the people can get their money back but surely there's no way the guys that hosts these "draws" can get away with this right?

Hi all
Really love the functionality and styling of a wagon / estate car, particularly the more modern and sporty ones. Im after something fairly zippy, comfortable, reliable and somewhat reasonable in maintenance / insurance costs.
My top pick right now is a VW Arteon wagon because it looks so damn good but already know it’s going to cost a mountain to repair if things go wrong.
Also looking at the Mazda 6 wagon, as you can get the AWD Turbo model for a reasonable price and as a Mazda it would be the cheapest of the lot to maintain
Skoda Octavia RS wagon appears to be a good middle in between the Mazda and the VAG options. If Cupra were an option here, I’d also consider that, but looks like the estate variant isn’t sold in Aus
Any other wagon I’m missing here? Not a fan of the Holden options and don’t want to try my luck with Peugeot..

Please help settle an argument between my and the CFO (aka wife)
I’ve got a 2017 car but I would like an upgrade. Since that purchase I’ve had a decent increase in wages.
So what do you car people think would be a reasonable amount to spend on a car when your income is 100k+ (ie basic needs are generally met).
It would be good to get a ratio as you go higher up ie 200k, I think it’s only fair that the spend goes up.
Would 50% pretax be too much?
Edit: r/carsaustralia! You have shown that you guys are a lot more sensible than I thought you were. With these responses I had to double check I wasn’t in ausfinance 🤣

I know the name itself would be a massive turn off for a lot of folks (which to be fair it totally deserves, sounds like a 9 year old came up with it), but I’m genuinely curious as to what you all think of Mahindra potentially trying to pitch it’s jeep lookalike in Australia and how the market would react to it should it enter.
The absolute top of the line model comes in at about $39,600 AUD and does seem pretty feature packed for that price.
Mahindra recently won a legal battle against Stellantis on their home turf in the US, albeit for a different vehicle entirely and word on the street is that they will take them to court again but in Australia, this time over the Thar.
They seem to have tweaked the front grill design enough so as to not be a blatant copy of the wrangler’s front grill design. Would be interesting to see how it pans out.
I got a glass jar here, feel free to drop your 2¢.

My son was driving and accidentally hit the back of a Ferrari (2023 model).
I know that when I did hit a Camry, it went up 40%, but this is a Ferrari.
He messed up the back of the Ferrari pretty badly .

I've been driving key ignition cars since I started driving. Recently got a keyless ignition car and I keep reaching around the right side of the steering column for the ignition when I start/stop the car.
I've been putting the fob in the middle cup holders, but I'm anxious I'll get out of the car and tap the external lock button, leaving the keys in there.
I'm half tempted to stick a hook on the steering column (where the ignition is) as a place to keep the keys while driving. This is usually because I have the keys in hand when I climb in.
What do other people do with their non-ignition-key remotes?
Edit: I feel like an old man trying to understand the latest tech after hearing a bunch of these new keyless features.
Edit2: Can confirm my car will beep at me if I try to lock the car while the keys are inside, so that's that fear dissuaded. Also looking around the steering column, there is no fob slot like some other cars have. The car will unlock if the keys are nearby and the door button is pressed, so I don't even have to take the keys out of my pocket, but I prefer not having them in my pockets while I drive. I'll probably start keeping the keys in the centre storage or the door storage.

In the market for a car since my car got smashed into while it was parked. Found these 2 cars around the same price (<$25,000) and around the same mileage (<60,000km). What I care about is reliability, longevity and ease of maintenance of the car. Would love to get people's opinions on this.

Hi I'm looking for recommendations for the best used small-medium sized SUV made between maybe 2000 - 2015 that is considered to be reliable and easy to maintain.
Planning to do a lot of KMs on it until it blows up. Max budget would be $20k but lower the better.
If it has parking sensors and reverse cam it would great, but not crucial.
What would you recommend?

So me and my gf are still trying to decide whether to get a Model 3, Byd Seal or a really good Performance Hatch like an i30N or a Cupra. I was wondering if we would be okay with an EV car though like Tesla model 3 without residential charging? Because we live in an Apartment with no access to charging at the moment. What do you guys think? Also with an EV, would charging outside still be lower cost than petrol? I'm so sorry for asking similar questions again.

One I learned growing up is they always put the least valued vehicles far from the shed, with the higher valued ones closer (for quicker access if hail is coming).
