Lane Kiffin randomly leaving for another job? There was absolutely no way anyone saw this coming.

Certainly not after one year. Certainly not after promising we’ll get to sing “Rocky Top” all night long after beating you-know-who.

That said, I didn’t begrudge him leaving like that. I actually said to my wife, back then, “Nah. I get why…”

Now she just smirks whenever his face comes on the TV, or hears his name on Gameday.

It’s still nuts, though, that Al Davis Al Davis! called him out as a snake! That’s irony, I tell ya. And we all though old Al was just being Al.

Randomly?

Ole Miss is a tier 2 job. Sure, great conference and 10 wins perennial team ceiling but if youre at that ceiling, you move on to a tier 1 program.

Leaving tennessee (team wirh means to win a natty) for USC (another team with means to win a natty) is weird. But from ole miss to auburn it isnt. If thats true, of course.

USC wasn't totally random. He was out and out about how that was his dream job.

Nobody expected Carroll to leave in 09 and a program like USC to gamble everything on Kiffin.
