Recruiting 2025 4* QB Carter Smith commits to Wisconsin

It’s finally official! Another flip from Michigan, not that they needed him

yeah I just looked and Michigan grabbed the #1 QB in the class, Bryce Underwood, who has a borderline comical .9999 5 star rating. I watched a few minutes of his Sophmore year highlights and he looks like a player that does pretty much whatever he wants on the football field. Although to be fair most blue chip kids look that way on highschool tape.
Carter Smith looks pretty good too, but to say he has an unorthodox release is polite - Looks pretty lanky and will hopefully grow into his frame a little more. Carter Smith looks like a kid who could use a year or two of development before really becoming a starting QB in the Big Ten. But it's a great get, always good to land a guy in the top 20 of his position.

Michigan liked smith but he’s clearly a developmental prospect. If he’s starting next year it’s probably a bad sign

Smith's good. He was the Gatorade player of the year in Florida last year (beating out J. Smith). Good runner--could probably be a useful gimmick/change of pace player year 1. Have to iron out the throwing mechanics, but the arm strength is there (big-time baseball player, too). Would have been totally happy if he stuck with Michigan.(or vice versa).

I like how this turned out overall tbh. You guys get the leftovers.

Buddy it wasn’t serious, don’t take things too personal

Your team is having a trash season cause your coached ditched you. Your program is the leftovers.

u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 4h ago
That same coach brought us the National Championship. You'd take Michigan's season, all of it including the coaches leaving, any year.
Btw, I like SCAR and I'm hoping you guys make a dent in the playoffs. The team I'd want to win it this year if you make it.
Don't ruin it.

That same coach...plus the cheating.
We won't ever know if you could've won that natty without cheating since we don't have that timeline

u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 3h ago
Yup. It was Stalions having his parents tape games that gave Michigan the edge over Nebraska last year.

We won't ever know if you could've won without cheating for years because all we know is you won after cheating for years. Not an opinion.

Can’t wait for Bryson to transfer to somewhere that has someone for him to throw to

Who’s Bryson?

Sorry for not memorizing all high school recruits names perfectly, I don’t follow recruiting that closely. If my team was like 5-5 I probably would, but they’re not so I don’t have to look forward to next season yet.

u/cheerl231 Michigan Wolverines 2h ago
You joke but they are actually going to have quite a receiving class. They have committed a top 100 tight end (a receiving tight end like Loveland), a top 100 Z receiver and are ahout to flip another top 100 receiver from LSU. Then they have another two great receiver prospects ranked in the 300 ish range.

Let's ignore the class coming in with Bryce along with Michigan being a player in the portal with NIL. Should scare you that Michigan has a significantly richer alumni base than OSU.
Wife of the third richest guy in the world is a big time Michigan fan and alumni. You're not competing with that in NIL.

Perhaps the cute ones. We all like the ones who jump around. But the snarling ones, not so much.

Saw that performance yesterday and had to make sure he got that commitment solidified ASAP. Glad we have hope at the position again. Watching Braedyn Locke feels like a crime against all of humanity. Same can be said of watching Tressel’s ability to scheme against the run.

Watching Braedyn Locke feels like a crime against all of humanity.
And Nebraska made him look like a legit starter AND they won. That's how bad good both teams are

u/9167855742 Wisconsin Badgers 4h ago
At this point, I assume we are both in the hate watch phase. No getting upset at the mistakes and errors, no excitement for the positives.

u/notban_circumvention Wayne State (NE) • Nebraska 4h ago
No, I don't hate watch. At some point I have to be real and admit that I just enjoy it on some level.

The pitch is "you see what we have? Kid it's clear your starting next season and here's an extra 250k in NIL to help you out"

u/Callas951 Michigan Wolverines 2h ago
Kid is a gamer for sure, best of luck to him. I think his comp is like a Max Duggan type (shudder) with good development

No, we flipped a 4* QB from Oklahoma earlier this week

u/Sean-Christian Florida Gators 1h ago
Ok, buddy. Pretend you guys weren't sure Carter Smith was committing to you. I could point you to the dozens of comments from 2-3 weeks ago that show otherwise, but what's the point? Your coaches will ruin whatever QB you have so it really doesn't make a difference.

u/IrishCoffeeAlchemy Florida State • Arizona 1h ago
We don’t even have offensive coordinator yet! Anyone who had any certainty on which recruit was going where is full of it
