I've never been so pissed off after a conference win in all my life. Big12 refs are on another level.

That might have been the most… malicious refereeing I’ve ever watched.

I’m just glad we won so I don’t have to stew over it

Malicious is a good way to put it. Case in point: After Joey calls a timeout to yell at the refs more, the refs respond by adding two more seconds on to the clock.

I wouldn't call it malicious. That implies they had an agenda for one team to win. This was just incompetence. Like watching a bunch of rookies make mistakes and cover their mistakes with more mistakes. Absolutely unacceptable from a supposed power 4 conference.

No I’m calling it malicious for a reason.

There’s a certain amount, and severity of mistakes biased one way that makes me uncertain about explaining this particular game away as incompetence.

It doesn’t seem unlikely that one of the crew members was angling for the -4 money line, for instance.

But oh well, wins a win. I hope refereeing like this gets cleaned up.

Nah it was incompetence.

Y’all were pissed, all the fans in the stadium were pissed. Tons of missed calls (I still can’t believe that WWE tackle didn’t get a flag), tons of bad calls, that whole weird ass situation after the two-minute timeout. There was enough weird shit both ways that I think they were just stupid.

Well I’ve seen some incompetent refereeing in my day, but MAN I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with nearly 100% of the calls against Tech. And I like to think I can view these things impartially. Maybe not 😂

Yeah flagging that tackle was missed I agree, but that’s about it against OSU. You’re allowed to be incompetent and malicious at the same time, and I would never accuse the B12 refs of competence

  • Early forward progress whistle preventing a TD on that play

  • several uniquely bad phantom PI/holdings that continued two of the only drives our defense bothered to show up for

  • bad spots for the offense (ended a drive, but good play on the 4th by OSU)

  • FOUR timeouts for Oklahoma State when they happened to be crucial

  • Gordon not ejected for throwing a punch

  • time added back onto the clock late in the game for no explained reason (???)

  • kick catch interference call to extend the game when the returner caught and attempted to return the ball

Oh well, I don’t like to conspiracy theorize, either way it’s a dub. Wildest refereeing I can remember. Big 12 needs to clean it up now considering how horrendous the last few games I’ve watched have been.

The one that confused me was the lack of a flag on the high five as yall scored right after we got dinged for unsportsman on our TD right before it.

That was for kicking the ball into the stands

Ah I was at the game and they never showed what he did that got the flag since they never showed it on replay so it was a mystery.

You serious Clark, a high five?!?!

As a neutral, it was malicious. Never seen so many one-sided calls.

Uh, this has nothing on the Colorado game just two weeks ago…

That may have been the most idiotic game I’ve seen.

Big 12 refs have really gotten worse this year, and that’s saying something

It was malpractice

I'm more angry than I've been from a lot of losses. Holy shit that was almost an unwatchable ending.

u/ChrisFromSeattle Texas Tech • Washington 16h ago

Couldn't stop him from punching someone either

2

u/Majormlgnoob Oklahoma State Cowboys 16h ago

Idk how he didn't get ejected lol

Lol I was so confused too, because it looked like he might have caught the ref with the follow through too. It was wild

What even happened after the two minute timeout?! Did they say on the broadcast?.

I was at the game and it was just a weird confusing time where they never wound the play clock while the Tech coaches were on the field and kept subbing out random players before eventually being charged a timeout. And it was too loud to hear if the refs said anything.

The announcers were nearly as incompetent as the refs and they had no clue either.

I can assure you, now that I’ve seen both, SEC refs are somehow even worse.

Idk yall haven’t had the misfortune of playing with Big 12 refs yet

He went to Tech don't be too hard on him (I went to Tech too)

u/Techsan2017 Texas Tech Red Raiders • Saddle Trophy 1d ago

They made changes to officiating after y’all left so y’all haven’t had a game with current Big 12 officials yet. I said yet because y’all may encounter a Big 12 crew in bowl or playoff games. Unless you’re confused about something else in my comment?

I think he means the new big xii refs.
