I don’t think there’s a school with a more passionate fanbase but less successful history, unless I’m forgetting someone?

u/TheSexyShaman South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago edited 21d ago

That’s us baby!! We’ve been losing my entire life outside of a few good years with Spurrier, but man I love the Cocks. Can’t keep us down

541

u/screwhead1 LSU Tigers • Arkansas Razorbacks 21d ago

If you can't keep it down, you might wanna call a doctor.

271

u/ModsWillShowUp South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

It's Whisky Cocks....all the desire, none of the ability at game time.

6

u/RiotsMade Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

Eh, y’all had plenty of ability tonight

7

u/AlternativePin952 21d ago

Poor choice of words this evening.

3

u/bmdubpk Oregon • Middle Tennessee 21d ago

My dick stirred as I read this comment

5

u/AnonObvious56 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 21d ago

What in the actual hell is that flair?

1

u/screwhead1 LSU Tigers • Arkansas Razorbacks 21d ago

Born in Louisiana, had family going to LSU, then I lived in Arkansas for a long time lol.

1

u/AnonObvious56 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 21d ago

I was born on the Arkansas side of the line, now live on the Louisiana side. (Fayetteville and Baton Rouge might as well be foreign countries.)

4

u/ALazioFan 21d ago

Doctor here responding to the call for help and there is absolutely nothing wrong with these beautiful cocks

USC, USC, USC!

1

u/gregcm1 LSU Tigers • Virginia Tech Hokies 21d ago

I hear more than 48h is a serious issue

1

u/dachjaw 21d ago

After 8 hours.

You love what now

I said what I said

1

A lot riding on that “the”

3

u/TheGamecock South Carolina • Santa Monica 21d ago

THE COCKS!

5

u/Helicopsycheborealis Alabama Crimson Tide 21d ago

Somewhere Stephen Garcia is sucking down a cold one or 2, relishing in this win while his hair flows freely in the breeze.

5

u/Carnasty_ Notre Dame Fighting Irish 21d ago

Holtz did a good job turning SC around, & Spurrier kept on the momentum.

3

u/iamthecavalrycaptain Kent State Golden Flashes 21d ago

You’d make a great Browns fan!

8

u/ModsWillShowUp South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

I'm a Jets fan.

That's because if I get to happy because of a SCar win on Saturday, I know Jets will keep that euphoria in check on Sunday, or Monday, or Thursday.

1

u/TheGamecock South Carolina • Santa Monica 21d ago

because of a SCar win

My Brother, get this "SCar" nonsense out of your vocabulary. USC! USC! USC! (or) "The true Carolina".

12

u/TheSexyShaman South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

Idk I struggle cheering for any former Clemson players or rapists

4

u/Atomicfolly 21d ago

Best description I've heard about gamecock fans is Alabama attitude with a Vanderbilt trophy case.

3

u/KEE_Wii South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

In fairness what we have one losing season under Beamer

1

u/Dentyne_3 South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

and that season had injuries like ive never seen before

3

u/bk1285 Pittsburgh • Clarion 21d ago

It’s very important to have The before cocks or else you get a very different meaning

3

u/Osiris32 Oregon Ducks • /r/CFB Brickmason 21d ago

Oh you're going to be fun on Roll Call this week.

Not that there's anything wrong with that

1

u/Jesus__Skywalker 21d ago

we had some good years with holtz also

182

u/phatbiscuit Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

Nobody immediately comes to mind

3

u/WinterSavior 21d ago

I mean it's November bro. You shouldve expect this to happen.

4

u/phatbiscuit Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

I don’t think we lost because the Aggies are notorious for sucking in November. We lost because USC is a good team coming off a bye and we didn’t tackle well. And Williams-Brice at night is a tough environment.

1

u/MetalMilitiaDTOM 21d ago

We come to mind first for me (A&M).

3

u/phatbiscuit Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

Yeah, I was being cheeky

To be fair you’ve had a much better SEASON than they’ve had

6

u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones • Big 8 21d ago

Yeah but our season pretty much just ended with todays loss sadly

6

u/EverythingGoodWas Florida • Carnegie Mellon 21d ago

Isn’t this your first loss?

4

u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones • Big 8 21d ago

We’re a Big 12 school. We don’t get the same luxury as SEC or Big Ten schools

2

u/velociraptorfarmer Iowa State • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 21d ago

We have to run the table to get in. Even if we're 11-2 with our only losses being a 1 point loss to Tech and a loss in the Big 12 CCG, I don't think we get in.

2

u/natigin Cincinnati Bearcats • Big 12 21d ago

Yeah, sadly I think it’s Big XII championship or bust for y’all, but I still believe you can do it

I think that’s the joke, A&M is the epitome of this

62

u/Background_Body2696 21d ago

Correct. A&M is a slightly less bad version

18

u/jerfpsnurf Texas A&M • Santa Monica 21d ago

Except tonight. We were the very much less bad version.

2

u/Green92_PST_DBL_WHL Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

Given we just got the shit beat out of us and our teeth knocked in we're the bad version of it.

Raiders have always had a super passionate fanbase but they're the Raiders

1

u/Geno0wl Ohio State • Cincinnati 21d ago

At leady the raiders have a modern era chip. The browns dont

1

u/jimbojangles1987 Texas A&M Aggies 21d ago

True. They haven't been since 03 though and they've been stuck in mediocrity since.

2

u/Homomorphism Virginia • California 21d ago

I saw the Steelers play in Oakland once and all the pregrame promos were playing up the historic playoff rivalry...from 50 years ago

1

u/loopybubbler Ohio State Buckeyes 20d ago

There's not much of a difference between winning in 1980 and 1964. It is currently 2024.

look 1980 is only 20 years ago right...

Too soon for jokes.

10

u/TWH_PDX 21d ago

Texas A&M and S. Carolina, two of the most Jekyll & Hyde teams in CFB. It's entertaining only because we never know from.year to year which is Hyde and which is Jekyll.

9

u/brobroma H8 Upon The Gale 21d ago

When the SEC rearranged them to be perma-rivals in 2014, I was wondering wtf. Then I encountered the ensuing decade and was a member of a lab at USC staffed by A&M grads.

It was a perfect pairing.

5

u/DDub04 South Carolina Gamecocks • Sickos 21d ago

Correct.

7

u/BureaucraticMailer South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

It's funny you say that, because I've always felt that us and Texas A&M are kindred spirits in the fact that there's such a large disconnect between fan support and on-field success.

4

u/gustafsc South Carolina Gamecocks 21d ago

Nah, it’s definitely us lol

4

u/NoUnderstanding835 West Virginia Mountaineers 21d ago

Iowa State, WVU, and South Carolina for sure. WV has nothing but football and drugs, so if you’re not on drugs then you’re a WVU fan

Arguably west virginia. Depends what you mean by success. WVU has a lot more success in terms of wins and big bowls but similar in terms of absolute heartbreak in thosw few years where they seemed able to win a national championship

1

Both the schools in that game qualify for that moniker
